2024-08-02 18:20:38 +0000 UTCMyagi was in the American army not the Japanese army. Remember that the first 2 atomic bomb was dropped on japan in ww2 as they were on opposing sides. Because of this all Japanese citizens in America were placed in internment camps (like the camps the Jews were put in by the Nazis but supposedly a little nicer though that's debatable). Even if the Japanese person was an official American citizen they would be forced into one of these camps unless they were a male of fighting age in which case they would be drafted into the military like every other male at that time. Also the guy shouting "get him a body bag" was tommy and he isn't the one who cheated, the one who cheated was bobby though i can't blame you for mistaking them as they look very similar. Bobby is also the one who told Johnny that Daniel had had enough and to stop when they were all beating him before Myagi stepped in. This shows he has good in him and that it's Kreese's teachings that are the problem.

You wouldn't feel any of the payoff because you missed the build up that gives meaning and context to the payoff. Realistically all 3 of the original movies should be watched before cobra kai. There are references to the 3rd movie in season 1 and the references and call backs only increase as the show progresses.

In the same way that boxers can’t hit opponents when they’re down, there might’ve been something Jonny did that he wasn’t allowed to, so he wasn’t awarded the point for hitting Daniel in the face.

Had she been allowed to keep normal life and not been thrown in the prison camp she most likely would have been fine. That's why Miyagi yells "land of free home of brave" because even tho he was out fighting for America his reward is his wife being thrown into a prison camp just for being japanese and her and the son dying
