2025-03-26 21:30:13 +0000 UTCtbf its still spelled "danger" even if its pronounced "don-ger", but yea you're right that it isn't a dutch word regardless (GODDAMN im wayy high and typed wayy too much lmao, shoulda left it at the above line, but if you wanna read a nice unimportant ramble, with countless run-on sentences and commas farther than the eye can see, please enjoy the read lmao) cuz yea looking that up just to triple check, tho tbf i was 90% sure lmao, but looking it up, danger is also not a dutch word, there's no dutch word, even with like accents or something on it, thats spelled the same as "danger" SO, TL:DR, you're still 100% right, im just being a nitpicky asshole, dont mind me lmao but yea no one was arguing that the word "donger" was a dutch word, it was supposed to be "danger", but the "dan" is prounced like don, and the g is a hard g instead of soft (at least if i rem correctly, thats what hard/soft refers to with letters, meaning like, dain-jer (danger) has a soft g, but his name spelled the same, had a hard g, where it was like a guh sound, instead of a je sound, like "anger" would be pronounced by itself) i believe the subtitles just spelled it like that because its the name being dumb that matters, and seeing "danger" in the subtitles, but hearing "donger", would throw ppl off, so they just decided to make the spelling match the pronunciation reason i know the above fs, is boyle mentioned the name is danger.....he wouldnt have read "donger" as "danger", unless he just misread it by mistake, BUT......if it was misread, then jack would have said something like "oh my name is actually donger", not what he did say, which was something like " oh its actually *pronounced* donger", meaning he believes they read the name right, but didnt say it right, as opposed to thinking they had the wrong name/read the name wrong.....if that makes sense? lmao ive typed too long alr, time to write a lil disclaimer.....if you made it this far, you prob read the disclaimer first, so congrats! you get the behind the scene view of when that decision was made lmao
