2025-09-07 00:06:03 +0000 UTCI would place the game into the Action-Adventure genre primarily, with RPG elements as the players interact with each other, and of course, cooperative play as you mentioned. I'm an avid gamer, but I wouldn't go for this sort of game because it's linear (must do tasks in order) and mission-based (must accomplish all tasks). I prefer open-world sandbox, especially RPGs, that allow you to do your own thing and not always follow the main questline.

The console seems like a generic "this is a game console" prop. It would have been cool if they had dug up an original PS1 for this Jumanji sequel. Maybe they didn't want to show a PS1 moldering in a school storage room?
