Pokémon season 1 when ash gets pikachu. They had a battle against Raichu and lost. Ash then offers the thunder stone to pikachu and pikachu pushes it away refusing to evolve. Proving that a Pokémon doesn’t need to evolve to overcome obstacles in a battle. Ash has never since forced or even talked about evolving pikachu. IMO I think pikachu looks better. Plus Raichu you can’t have out all the time like pikachu.
