“An unusual blade cast by Lord Rencor’s court of secret swordsmiths; This blade was forged with the essence of several heinous monsters, trapping their spirit and influence within the blade. The idea was to control them. Use their power.

And it worked, in a way, but there was a cost…” 

You gain a +2 to Attack and Damage rolls made with this magical weapon.

Pristine Form - When kept clean, this sword deals an additional 1d6 Radiant damage. On a successful attack, a creature struck by this blade must make a DC16 Constitution saving throw, being Blinded on a failed save. At the end of your turn, you may use a Bonus Action to wipe the blade clean after killing a creature, to keep it in it’s Pristine Form. If you do not, the blade transforms into its Tenacious Form. 


Hungering Form - You may allow the blade to accumulate the viscera of previous battles. This film of gore feeds the blade, awakening the beasts inside. 

As the film sets and seeps into your blade, the monstrous form of the blade is brought force, along with a host of new abilities. For every creature slain, while in this form, the blade gains 1 charge. You can expend these charges to empower the various monstrous spirits within this blade and activate their abilities shown below.  Each of these features lasts until the start of your next turn. Using a Bonus Action to wipe the blade clean, resets the charges in the blade to 0. 

Mimic’s Lash - As a Bonus Action, you can expend 1 charge to call on the essence of the Mimic, causing the blade to open and produce a thick purple tongue. Make an attack roll at a creature within 20ft. A creature hit by this attack is grappled by the tongue and pulled into the blade’s hungry maw, dealing an additional 2d8 Piercing damage in addition to the weapon’s normal damage. 

Old Rusty - As a Bonus Action you may expend 2 charges to call upon the essence of the Rust Monster, causing the blade to take on a rusty patina. Until this effect ends, successful attacks against creatures wearing non-magical metal armor or wielding a metal shield (players choice), begin to degrade, taking a cumulative -1 penalty to the AC they offer. If a set of armor is ever reduced to 10 or a shield ever reduced to 0, it is destroyed. 

Additionally, if a creature ever fails an attack roll against you, you may use your reaction to corrode the weapon that made the attack, assuming it is metal and non-magical. Weapons corroded this way take a cumulative -1 to Attack Rolls and Damage. If this ever reaches -5, the weapon is destroyed. 

Aboleth Enslavement - As an action, you may expend 2 charges to call upon the essence of the Aboleth, causing 3 strange eyes to appear on the blade, and target any creature within 30ft. of you. That creature must make a DC16 Wisdom saving throw or be Charmed by you until the start of your next turn. A creature Charmed by you in this way shares a telepathic link with you and it will follow any of your commands, except those that would cause it direct harm.

Gibbering Mouths - As an action, you may expend 3 charges to call upon the essence of the Gibbering Mouther, causing small mouths to break out all over the sword and begin babbling incoherently. All creatures within 30ft. of you must make a DC15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature loses the ability to take Reactions until the start of your next turn. Additionally, the creature must roll a d8 to determine what it does on it’s next turn. 

On a 1 to 4, the creature does nothing. On a 5 or 6, the creature takes no action or bonus action and uses all its movement to move in a randomly determined direction. On a 7 or 8, the creature makes a melee attack against a randomly determined creature within its reach or does nothing if it can’t make such an attack.

Warping Flesh - As an action you may expend 5 charges to call upon the essence of the Sibriex, causing the form of the blade to warp and distort. Each creature within 5 ft. of you must make a DC15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target is poisoned, which causes it to also gain 1 level of exhaustion. While poisoned in this way, the target must repeat the saving throw at the start of each of its turns. Three successful saves against the poison end it, and ending the poison removes any levels of exhaustion caused by it. 

Each failed save causes the target to gain another level of exhaustion. Once the target reaches 6 levels of exhaustion, it dies and instantly transforms into a living Manes (MM pg60) under the sibriex's control. The transformation of the body can be undone only by a wish spell.


Curse of the Despoiled Blade - This weapon is cursed, but the nature of this curse remains hidden until the blade hits 10 Charges. If the blade is ever left with 10 charges for a period of 1 hour or longer, the creatures within the blade take control, causing the blood and flesh and gore absorbed by the blade to burst forth from the hilt of the blade, creating a horrific body to wield it. This creature desires nothing more than to kill and absorb the lifeforce of other living creatures. Defeating this creature returns the blade to it’s original form.
