Wild episode. Applejack overcompensating trying to force memories and bonding. We needed twilight to organize this π
Ah okay. Moons is an interesting way to say time. Confused me.
Ooooo more towns. You know I love world building π
Oh wow. Yeah I never actually thought about the parents. Got caught up in granny and tosh that this would totally dismiss their mother and father. Now come to think about it, we donβt know the parents of a lot of the other ponies as well. Potential trauma and emotional bigger stories? π€π€π€π€

The "Apple Family Reunion" is a decent episode about the get-together of the whole Apple-Family with are coming to Sweet Apple Acres from far away to have a good time and to reconnect together, weren't it for Applejack who is zealously taking over and disrupt the family atmosphere with extreme activities resulting in a destroyed barn. After a short compassionate intervention by Granny Smith, Applejack understands her role and raises the barn in a cozy manner together with her whole family.
- Some further notes/thoughts/facts: -
The transkript in this video is wild... it showed me "My Little Pony: French Miss Magic" XD
They often refer to past things with "moons" as time interval:
Granny Smith: "I still can't believe it's been almost one hundred moons since our last family reunion."
It seem to depict the moon phases - But it's never told how long it is in MLP. Jayson Thiessen the showrunner of the show was once asked about it, but he just said "it's a unit of time with no human equivalent."
But if we take human measuring as a reference, one moonphase is 29,53 Days. - So 100 moons tell us its approximately 8 Years (2.953 Days) since the last reunion, considering one year has 365 days, which also could be different.
Now there is some contradiction with Season 1 episode 4 "Applebuck Season", in which Applejack told Twilight that she cant get help from all the Apple Members that were in the Pilot episode when Twilight was the first time in Ponyville and invited to supper, because they were just there for the family reunion... 8 years seem too much then..? π€π€―
We get to hear about more Towns in Equestria: Yonder Hill, Hollow Shades, Galloping Gorge, Foal Mountain, Tall Tale Town
Applejack: "You may be a tad old Granny, but you're as feisty and full of spark than eveβ"
Granny Smith: "Who you callin' old!?" π€£
Young Granny Smith is truly a beauty
Awwww, Baby Applejack is too cute π₯°
Yeah i think Applejack is overthinking it - it's about tradition and the process and the get-together and making memories - Oh you took the words right out of my mind :D
Applejack: "you won't even have a minute to rest" - i am Afraid to hear that...
All these ponies from whoknowswhere coming by foot, cart and even an airship? Awesome!
Oh no Applejack, please don't force all the event's on them :o
"After the seven-legged race, you're gonna wanna hurry up and head over here, where you'll be bobbin' for apples!
Then you'll run around these trees fifty times until you're real good and dizzy. Then you'll jump these big wooden hurdles. And then there's the final leg, where you'll balance plates on your head while sayin' "Pappy pony picked a pluck of prickly pluffnuggets" over and over and over again. Last pony standin' wins!"
Wow, thats no obstacle course for kids - it's an Olympic triathlon...
Bonding time over loud sewing machines straight out of the steampunk era XD
The scream is the so called "wilhelm scream"... you will hear it often in the show :D
The applefritter making feels more like a processing assembly in a company...
All in all it doesn't feel like a nice reunion its all ridiculous!
Well the fruit bats are looking nice...
Welp... it's the 4th time the barn got destroyed: "Swarm of the Century", "Lesson Zero", "Too Many Pinkie Pies" and this time...
Sweet moment here:
Granny Smith: "Applejack, you had us so caught up in all the doin', we haven't had a second to enjoy the company of the folks we've been doin' it with!"
Applejack: "Oh, Granny Smith, here you let me be in charge of creatin' great memories, and the only thing anypony's gonna remember about this reunion... is that it was the worst one we ever had."
Granny Smith: "Oh, hey now... everypony's still here, ain't they? Still plenty of time to make good memories! You've just got to give everypony a chance to actually make 'em."
It says a lot if the family is still staying, even even through this disaster.
The song "Raise this barn" is standard, but pretty decent... One could mistake it as "racist barn" which was a meme back then... π
Maybe you meant "decrescendo"? - yeah that could be.
Yea technically Applejack did the same, but... this time she gave them leeway to have some time together and making memories, instead of a forced activity.
I dont know if you saw the two stars at 6:18 and 22:18?
At the first occurrence Granny Smith says "Who knows if they'll all be able to make the next one?" while Applejack adds: "That's true! Busy as everypony's lives are gettin' these days, chances are pretty slim we'll be this lucky next time 'round." and at the second occurence was after the Reunion while remembering about it. With this it was heavily implied that the parents of Applejack and Apple Bloom are dead... and now watching over them. It was accepted canon by the community.
---
This episode was all in all decent and cozy - it had an impactful message about the family being the first group of friends you will ever make and that you can have a memorable time with lot's of meaning, even if you do the simplest of activities with them.
Also there is some confirmed inklings about the deceased parents. π’
Thank you for your reaction π

Had good intentions but yes she missed the assignment and true intention of it.
Definitely wanted more of babs but letβs blame applejack!
Never rush or over complicate the simple stuff. Great lesson!

Apple jack was going about it the wrong way, but Iβm glad it turned out good in the end, also I enjoyed seeing babs again I was hoping to hear more about what was going on with her though, the song was pretty good itβs a catchy one, the message was really good I had never thought about family being the first friends we ever make till I first watched this episode, and itβs a really good way to look at it, also apple jack learning you shouldnβt rush these types of things you have to slow down and enjoy the company your with instead of creating all these complicated activities to make memories happen, you just gotta let it happen naturally.
