Crazy world building and an unexpected return that ended up being one of my favorites of the season. This show is showing me it’s not impossible to be redeemed (down the line as well 😉 )
That is true with Pinkie and RD. There was no need to conflict and more just go about it differently.
I felt so bad for twilight. Hopefully she gets to go there now that it’s back to glory
Yes that griffon history! Loved it as it perfectly explained the current state of what’s going on.
Yes no more b words. It I got my eyes on her
I do get ppl wanting more from he to “earn it” but at the same time, I think this series does well with one time appearances and then building them up. We usually get one interaction and impression so I’d like to think the show make us remember that which reinforces their story and situation.
I’m glad you enjoyed! I was excited for continuity and a new world!

And here we are at "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone" - the second adventurous episode led by the friendship-map pointing Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie to Griffonstone. The pair-up adventures you always wanted begin here :D
- Some notes/thoughts/facts: -
I love Pinkies interactions with Gummy.
WORLDBUILDING!
- Griffonstone in the "Griffon Kingdom", home of the Griffins
- Legend says the Idol of Boreas was made from the dust of golden sunsets, blown across the mountains by the north winds (Boreas = north winds)
Twilight Sparkle: "No, no, if the map wanted me to go to the coolest kingdom in all of Equestria and tour the palace and see the actual idol that unites an entire species, which would be super amazing, I'm sure it would've said so."

That is one disappointed looking Twilight ^^' - if stares could kill...
At least, she possed Rainbow Dash for a short time as a spiritual follower 🤣

How expensive are these sweets/snacks for Pinkie to pay this hefty amount of bits?

"Hello B-Word" 🤣 - Gilda is back! - And she is as lovely as ever...
We also get a little loredump about Griffon history through Grampa Gruff, a very eccentric Griffon it seems.
- The Arimaspi stealing the Idol of Boreas is a reference to a greek myth about the Arimaspi-griffon fight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arimaspi
Gilda: "Ha-ha. Here we go – typical pony hero complex."
- Wow there seems to be some animosity between the Griffins and the Equestrians, still there are Griffins at Equestrian events like the Equestria Games and so on - what does that tell us?
- Well there is a theory about it that i quite like:
It is said that after the downfall of the Griffin Kingdom (because of the loss of their treasure), the last King Guto tried to preserve their integrity and to prevent a civil war by abdicating as a king, surrendering his crown to their ally's (Celestias) under the premise to allow every griffin to live in Equestria if they want to and to respect the ones that want to stay isolated in the Griffin Kingdom. - but this well intentioned endeavor seemed to be frowned upon by some of the griffins labeling it as a hero-complex, because the ponies all have to always meddle in their affairs...
"Can't sing here!" - i get the feeling, that the griffons are portrayed as the anti-thesis to Ponies here XD
Literal Griffin-stones which are also hard as stones...
Pinkie Pie: "[chewing] Grampa Gruff's recipe is good, but it's missing one important ingredient."
Gilda: "Don't tell me. "Friendship"?"
Pinkie Pie: "Uh, no. Baking powder."
🤣
Wow this abandonment by that storekeeper was on a whole another level...Rainbow Dash could have died there.
luckily Pinkie Pie found her, and was able to convince Gilda to help her. She also was kinda temped by the idol but she rescued them both. - She even apologized! - She redeemed herself! - So no more B-Words for you here 😅
Pinkies 4th wall breaks are always a delight.
Looking back now, Gilda was never truly heartless or unfriendly. She was just insecure. Deep down, she always wanted a friend, and she found that in Rainbow Dash at the "Junior Speedsters flight camp" in Cloudsdale. But after camp, she spent a lot of time in Griffonstone, only occasionally visiting Rainbow Dash in Ponyville. This insecurity led her to adopt the tough and unfriendly lifestyle of her Griffonstone neighbors, but was still able to maintain a good relationship with Rainbow Dash.
Everything changed when she was pulled out of her comfort zone by Pinkie Pie, who was also Rainbow Dash's friend. Pinkie's presence added fuel to Gilda's insecurity (kinda like Discord before), leading to her infamous outburst against Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash in Season 1. While her behavior wasn't excusable, it was clear that it stemmed from her deep-seated fears and insecurities.
But Gilda was able to change. It was so heartwarming to see her grow and become a better friend than before, trying to do better and even willing to spread it amongst her own kind. - She is also kinda the friendship ambassador for Griffinstone now 😅
---
This concludes the episode which serves as a powerful narrative about the restoration of a fallen community through the values of friendship and cooperation. The episode uses the decline and potential revival of Griffonstone as a narrative for Gilda's redemption.
It was great seeing Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie on a mission together and while you might have enjoyed more conflict between the two, it's kinda difficult to clash with each other, if Rainbow Dash isn't caring much about Pinkies shenanigans, because she knows its futile to go against them.
This episode had great worldbuilding and continuity. It delves into the folklore of the griffins, explaining how their community fell apart due to disunity after the idol was stolen. This background enriches the story and provides us a better insight about Gildas situation which led us to Gilda's redemption who was originally one of the most disliked side characters in the show. Gilda's return and transformation added depth to her character, showing that even the most unlikely individuals can change for the better if given the chance.
The overall reception by the fandom is mixed regarding Gilda's redemption. While some fans found it satisfying, others wished for her to return in a more significant role. - But i personally am ok with that.
Still this episode rises some questions how the map knew that only Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were needed for this mission. Does the map possess omniscience, or is there another explanation? These questions add an element of mystery to the story.
Overall, this episode successfully intertwines humor, character growth, and cultural insights, making it a memorable part of the series.
"Its Spreading joy, its spreading friendship, its spreading ourselves" - Well said Ed, well said! 💙😄
I love how you freaked out about all of it :D

I still can’t believe it. What a redemption! Even added on new species, emotional, new pony duo, and world building. Amazing.
It’s funny because the site I mark my episodes has this as a 3.13 so I thought it was a very low rated episode or disliked. Felt crazy when I first saw it
