It was time for her to let it go, and forgive herself. The end showing Luna finally resting with ease was such a sweet moment” put it perfectly. What an adventure and emotionally complex episode. Ep 12 and 13 back to back?!?! My god that was inspirational. Yeah the quick resolution was a bit of a weak spot but I gotta give it up for the darker and abstract-ness of it all. Oh I will always fan girl for Luna 😂

2024-07-27 06:34:19 +0000 UTCHere we go with "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?" which is another great contender of one of the best episodes in the series. - Some notes/thoughts/facts: - There is no real distinction of mid-season and often no overall plotwise change, but the episodes around 12/13 seem often to be on the stronger side, so yeah: you could compare that with it. LUNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 😍 Princess Luna: "[gasps] What? My dream ended... happily? That. Cannot. Happen!" - why doesnt that sound good? Princess Luna has a nice designed room: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/f3/Princess_Luna%27s_bedroom_S5E13.png but one thing strikes me... she has slippers, but wears her royal horseshoes in bed? - i smell animation error here 😅 Sure Tank is back, its no winter anymore :D Everyone has nightmares... but Pinkie is completely unfazed by it 😅 Spike: "Huh. I wonder why I didn't have that nightmare. I slept great!" Way to go Spike... Spike: "Whoa-whoa-whoa. So what you're saying is... you dreamt about all of them, and not me? [whimpers]" You had it coming Spike 🤣 Holy shit how fast was Luna? She must have broken the sonic-barrier multiple times or she teleported, but it wasnt even time to read the letter... wth... 🤔 Its a "Tantabus" - its name is a corruption of "tantibus", a Latin word for nightmare. The creature itself is based off baku, that are spirits in Japanese mythology that devour dreams and nightmares. In this case though it was a creation by Luna herself. But if you think about it, Luna is the ruler of the Dreamscape and is able to create a creature that is able to grow stronger and change the very fabric of reality itself if it escapes into the real world... sooo how (potentially) powerful is the Dreamscape (Realm of Sleep) and therefore Luna (if she is able to utilize any of it)? I absolutely wouldn't question it if Pinkie were able to hop between dreams... I dont trust it :o Here we see how Luna seems to connect different dreams together, just she herself (and the Tantabus) seem to be able to walk between their dreams represented by a passageway of doors if needed, but to connect dreams she needs to span a connection-thread to all participants. You recognized CatDog! Im so proud of ya 😅 - but its not just "the Spy", its Bon Bon. Flutterbad! and all the other cameos like the Power Ponies etc. - even Spike as the dragon-knight originating from the season 1 "Diamond Dogs" Episode. Big McIntoshs transformation into an Alicorn is similar to the the transformation sequences of Sailor Moon from the 1992 anime series Sailor Moon. Its even sound-alike. Her name is Minuette. - Originally called Colgate by the fandom because her colorsheme resembled toothpaste... there were a lot of memes going around: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQv_pRJYFY4 But then Hasbro decided on the name to be Minuette. The exploration of Luna's guilt and self-punishment introduces a complex and darker theme, effectively using the Tantabus as a manifestation of her inner turmoil. This episode marks a pivotal moment for Luna's character development, showcasing a bold narrative choice that departs significantly from the show's typical light-hearted tone. By addressing profound emotional and psychological issues, the last 2 episodes demonstrated that even a show aimed at younger audiences can tackle such mature themes. And while it received high ratings from some viewers for its exciting plot and well-written story, others (me and you inclusive) understandably critiqued it for its dark theme and sudden resolution. Despite the mixed reception, the episodes ambitious approach and depth make it a memorable and significant addition to the series. Overall it was a great mid-season finale! Again another great reaction, it was such a delight to see you being flabberghasted at first and gradually grasping what is going on while fanboying over Luna. 💙😏
