Applejacks's Childhood Friend? | My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 5 Episode 24 REACTION

Applejacks's Childhood Friend? | My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 5 Episode 24 REACTION

Comments

Worst character now goes to Svengallop especially after the redemption this season. Yeah it is usually show biz and how it goes so she isn’t wrong but yeah we can still dislike it. Also funny how we have an old friend and past story for Twilight and AJ! Those were some honest but damn true words. AJ not phased at all Rara had a beaaaaauitful design. Just ever so magical and pretty. Yeah that is true of the after 10 years. I think that’s why I like this episode since you can view it from many different angles and it’s still correct since Rara’s entire thing was submitting to that life and letting herself go and her beliefs which was a big part of AJ smelling the fakeness. Amazing stuff!

In "The Mane Attraction", the narrative delves into the theme of "losing oneself to fame," a concept brought to life through the characters Applejack and her childhood friend Coloratura (Rara). AJ and Rara, who first met at Camp Friendship, find themselves reunited after many years, only to discover that fame has transformed Rara in ways that neither of them anticipated, due to the impact of a manipulative manager, who coerces Rara into adopting a fabricated persona to maintain an image she doesn't truly believe in. - Some notes/thoughts/facts: - The "Ponypalooza Rock Concert" is a reference to the "Lollapalooza Festival". "Countess Coloratura" or "Rara" is voiced by Lena Hall, a well known singer and actress from Broadway Musical and in some other television films - The story about Lena Halls involvement is an interesting one: At the Tony Awards 2014 she won the prize "Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Mh2FQxwsM She closed her acceptance speech with ("Friendship is Magic!") which was very surprising - later in the awards press room she confirmed it was an intentional reference to the show: https://youtu.be/WfxLOAz9sgw?t=253 This earned her the attention of the producers of MLP and they made this episode together. She later even reacted to it and provided her own insight of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka-ZHN91198 I absolutely loved the flashback, with AJ and Rara as kids, even the song "Equestria, the Land I Love" was very sweet, especially at the end when the CMC participated - it is such an interesting song, kinda an unofficial anthem for Equestria. It was just way too short... - Anyway, here is a little Rock Version of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5whDkbOL84M Svengallop just spoke a couple of sentences and i knew he was trouble... i dislike him very much. Its funny how "The Spectacle" song was originally planned as a ironical and critic take on modern over-stylized over the top pop-songs, to highlight Countess Coloraturas overstylized facade but Daniel Ingram still surprisingly managed to make this song way too good to be just that... and it somehow has very much Lady gaga vibes... - I also found it interesting how the vocal effects were made with magic (similar to the royal canterlot voice that Luna had in "Nightmare Night"), its was a nice little addition. - Anyway, there are some good remixes/covers of the song: VocalScorePony (cover): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lceBvFnF7ag Silva Hound Remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg2dpLss-pM PrinceWhateverer (extended cover): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFoiaVJyxRI StrachAttack Remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUk2CuBD02s Svengallop: "Oh, my shining star! Thanks to the sparkling costumes, dazzling choreography, and brilliant vocal effects that I designed, your performance was spectacular, Countess Coloratura!" - Oh yes... i am right to dislike him... this is such a self-adulation its downright obnoxious. But its funny how Rarity always steps in says how normal this is in this business and yeah - she may be right... but i don't have to like this. Applejack: "Jealous of what? A pony who hides behind a veil so thick she can't see when somepony's usin' her? No, I'm not jealous of that, Rara!" - True words were spoken... - Element of honesty speaking here! Svengallop emphasis of his achievements are truly obnoxious -.- Luckily AJ was able to prevent him from using Rara any further. I absolutely love her Rara-Design its beautiful. But her following performance is even better: The song "The Magic Inside / I Am Just a Pony" - the first time i heard this after the whole ordeal with Sven Gallop and her expressing her real feelings was such a great moment - i had truly the feeling like AJ in that moment and some tears in my eyes... I consider this one of the best songs in the entire series. Lena Hall did such a great job here! It was even nominated for "Outstanding Original Song" at the 43rd Daytime Emmy Awards. Its absolutely difficult to top this song and seldom does a remix do it justice, but one did a surprisingly good job with it: JoinedTheHerd Remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ftJd8J9W20 That Salute! 🤣 - I think its a patriotic song, so it is fine to do that 😄 --- This concludes said episode which gave us a little glimpse of AJ's background and how she met her childhood-friends Rara at the "Friendship"-Camp as fillies. Ed you arent wrong about the expectation part to expect someone to be the same after 10 years, but its another thing if you changed your identity on a fake believe made up by someone, who just took an advantage of you, like Svengallop did... Rara's journey into fame, and the way it changed her, was example about how easy it is to lose oneself when manipulated by someone with a questionably agenda. And after that he downright exploited her false beliefs which undermined her personal growth and genuine self-discovery. Anyway, i loved how this episode was described by many as lovely, heartwarming, and beautiful. The interaction between Rara and Applejack was particularly touching, showing the depth of their friendship despite the years they were apart. Rara's character was not only fun and interesting but also relatable, and her songs were simply stunning. - Its always a bliss to see Daniel Ingram's musical flexibility - he never fails to amaze me. 🤩 It also one of the rare episodes that had an interesting modern twist to the MLP-world, with the music festival setting, which was quite cool. Overall it was one of the greatest episodes of Season 5 - it had a lot going for it and i liked it very much. - It was nice that you shared the same view as us and were amazed by it. 😁 Great reaction! - Thank you! 💙

Lena Hall is a Broadway actress who was a fan of the show and asked to be on it. She actually recorded her reaction to this episode live as it aired on TV. You can still find that reaction on YouTube today I believe
