Finally a gooooood spike episode!!!! And one that includes ember who also somewhat bridges the gap between dragons and ponies. This also furthers the world building and their society which was awesome to get a better look at!
I will always love the costumes and the rarity/twilight combo π
And I love the partnership of ember and spike and also how they learned from each other. I hope to see them again in the future! And the father daughter was a big obvious but itβs a classic story that is true as he doesnβt believe in her ability or want her to be in that role.
We can rejoice in a great spike episode and it seems there might be another one on the horizon? π

You again with your OnlyFans... Now that i think about it... Isn't OnlyFans not just an NSFW Version of Patreon? π - That said... you are also able to upload the same stuff on Patreon... π ... hm....
- Some notes/thoughts/facts: -
"Gauntlet of Fire" is a reference to Harry Potters "Goblet of Fire" and the episode draws parallels to How to Train Your Dragon with elements such as the giant Dragonlord, dragons flying through rocky islands and Ember's armor.
Its another Spike centric episode... did you have any hope that this will be a decent one?
Twilight Sparkle: "I'm so glad you two could come!"
Princess Luna: "Of course. We so rarely get a chance to relax and just visit."
Princess Celestia: "There's usually some crisis we have to deal with. Somepony always needs our help. But todayβ"
Rarity: "[muffled, wailing] Help!"
- You were saying? π€£
"The call of the Dragon Lord" - this looks promising...
Twilight Sparkle: "Ooh! Oh my goodness, I'd love to! We are sadly lacking any information on dragon culture and customs. I could research them β maybe even write an article! This could be my chance to make a great contribution to the knowledge of Equestria! [beat] And be there for Spike, heh, of course."
- A-d-o-r-a-b-l-e... and soooo like Twilight.
The last time was with Twilight Rarity AND Rainbow Dash with that ridiculous dragon-costume...
Twilight Sparkle: "I think we might want something a little more practical this time."
- I love all these "practical" costumes Rarity made... they're all great:

Dragon Lord "Torch" has a cool design and doesn't just look like any of the other grown up dragons before, i like it:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/b/bd/The_dragons_listen_to_Dragon_Lord_Torch_S6E5.png
I also love Princess Embers design:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/cc/Princess_Ember_S6E5.png
A series called "My little Dragon's"... wouldn't that be interesting?
Dragon Lord Torch: "Unfortunately, according to dragon law, it is time for me to step down."
- There is a dragon law? thats interesting...
Dragon Lord Torch: "He is rather tiny, heh-heh. I could squish him with my pinky claw. [chuckles] That wasn't a joke. It was a fact."
- this must be terrifying π¨
Embers and Torch realtionship is difficult it seems, he doesn't accept her own strength through wisdom and wits to compete... but she competes anyway with a disguise and armor. - She is not your typical princess either...
Spike: "There's only one thing to do, and only I can do it! I have to win the Gauntlet of Fire!"
- Big words Spike... you dont even have wings... - and the first time i watched it, i thought some kind of deus ex machina event will help him, but it turned out better than i anticipated.
Spike rescues Ember and she repays him back by covering for his pony friends. She also magrees to a mutual partnership with Spike to work together to get through all these traps. - They make a good team...
Twilight Sparkle: "Her behavior does seem contradictory to everything I've noted about dragons so far."
- yes, but thats not a bad thing... is it?
Still that competition is no joke... it had quite some nasty traps:

Spike: "[sighs] It was nothing."
Princess Ember: "Nothing? You just risked everything to save her! And they're putting themselves in danger just to support you!"
Spike: "Well, that's just what friends do. Don't you have anyone who looks out for you?"
Princess Ember: "Not really. Unless I count you. [beat] Which I don't! Because we were only helping each other get through the tunnel, and now we're through the tunnel, so that's it."
- Oh... did she just... admit that Spike is her friend? But she is too tsundere to accept that?
Spike: "[screaming] Ember! I thought it was every dragon for themselves! Why did you save me?!"
Princess Ember: "That's what friends do! And I am. I mean, we are. I never should have left you back there. Agh, please don't make me talk about my feelings!"
- Yes she did... and she has feelings about it ππ
The fighting between Spike, Ember and Garble was exciting to watch.
And ultimately Spike did it, he got the scepter and became the Dragon Lord... even though just for a short amount of time... to give it back to Ember, who is considered to favor the ponies now instead of hating them like Garble did.
Garble got kicked in the ass by Spike and Ember in the end and even commanded to do some embarrassing stuff to every dragon he meets... such sweet revenge π
Princess Ember: "I'm not big and strong. I know. But you know what? I won anyway. So maybe it takes more than just being big and strong to be a good Dragon Lord!"
Dragon Lord Torch: "I was wrong, Ember. You might not be big, but you are strong and smart, and perhaps that counts for more than I thought. And you will make an excellent leader."
- Its great to see "Torch" recognizing her "strength", hopefully this will lead to some kind of change amongst the dragon-folk...
And Ponykind got a new ally... that was great!
---
"Gauntlet of Fire" stands out as a pivotal episode for Spike, showcasing his growth and depth as a character far beyond the sidekick or comic relief he's often portrayed as. Spike's decision to enter the Gauntlet not for personal gain but to protect his friends and Equestria speaks volumes about his bravery and selflessness. His honorable actions, particularly in standing up to Garble and supporting Ember, truly earned my respect.
Princess Ember quickly became a fan-favorite, as she defies the typical dragon stereotypes in the series. She is depicted as intelligent, strong-willed, and caring, which challenges the notion that dragons are inherently selfish and brutal. Her friendship and alliance with Spike mark a significant shift in dragon-pony relations, establishing her as a potential ally for ponies and a key figure in further developing these bonds of friendship. Ember's ability to understand and practice empathy, combined with her sharp wit, wisdom, and strength, allows her to outmaneuver other dragons who rely solely on brute force. This is why Spike recognized her as the rightful Dragon Lord, seeing her as a worthy leader. Her character subverts expectations of what a dragon should be, so much so that even Twilight is fascinated by her.
The friendship between Spike and Ember serves as a powerful symbol of bridging cultural gaps, highlighting the differences and similarities between ponies and dragons. Through their interactions, we gain insight into dragon customs and the intricacies of their political landscape. The episode also introduces us to the former Dragon Lord, Torch, the only adult dragon we encounter in this setting. Notably, the larger dragons appear to reside elsewhere, possibly in caves guarding their hoards of gold and treasures, emerging only during events like the Dragon Migration. The episode emphasizes the dynamic between the younger dragons, who seem to be the primary residents of the dragon lands.
"Gauntlet of Fire" deepens the lore of dragons in the MLP universe, revealing a more complex and structured society than previously shown. The episode introduces the Dragon Lord, the Bloodstone Scepter, and the Flamecano, highlighting traditions and rituals that govern dragon culture. This adds richness to the MLP world, shifting the perception of dragons from being wild and anarchistic to having a somewhat organized community with its own unique customs. Through this expanded world-building, we gain a broader understanding of the diverse inhabitants within the MLP universe.
This episode is widely regarded as one of Spikes best. His actions to defend Equestria from an impending danger or befriending a dragon, were standout moments that resonated with viewers. It's rare to see such a strong Spike-centric episode, and it showcased how his character should be portrayed more often. The episode also serves as a reminder of MLPβs broader themes of diversity and inclusion by depicting dragons, who are often portrayed as villains in many stories, in a more nuanced and relatable way, the episode reinforces the series emphasis on understanding and accepting different cultures and species.
It was another great reaction, thank you for reacting to this π
P.S.:
There were some good Spike episodes before, if i had to rate these it would be like this:
01. (S6E05) "Gauntlet of Fire" - best one so far.
02. (S4E06) "Power Ponies" - it was good
03. (S2E21) "Dragon Quest" - it was nice because of the introduction to other dragons
04. All the episodes not centered around him, but he is taking a part in it.
After that are the mid-to-low rated ones - these are difficult to place...:
05. (S4E23) "Inspiration Manifestation" - was an ok episode
06. (S5E10) "Princess Spike" - despite the deliberate fault of set-up it was an ok episode
07. (S3E11) "Just for Sidekicks" - difficult to place... the same lesson and setup as in "Secret of My Excess" but better executed - an okay episode
08. (S1E24) "Owl's Well That Ends Well" - Only good as Owlowiscious is introduced here.
09. (S2E10) "Secret of My Excess" - Wth. Spike...
10. (S4E24) "Equestria Games" - WHYYYY did you rob us of a proper sports-event Spike!?
... Anything else
β. (S3E09) "Spike at Your Service" - Just dumb... and only good for all the jokes that any other character made π

Good pun π₯ but finally a good spike ep! Need him more in this role or personal ones rather than just comic relief.
The costumes return and they are better π€£
I agree! Ember is awesome and Iβve wanted dragon inclusion so itβs awesome to see this droplet.
And I need twilight to geek out at griffinstone still!

A good spike episode is a rarity! this is how spike should be in all his episodes, I loved rarityβs camouflage costumes lol, I love ember sheβs really cool, glad we get a new character, the dragons definitely need development so this episode was much needed, also twilight being here made it perfect.
