As i said thats up to you 😏 Yeah i got your "romantic" vibe at that moment 😁 I also love some fan-service and hidden fan-engagement - that just shows that producers care 😀 Elitism? how so? do you wanna elaborate at Discord? Its only natural that there is some opinion about how every Seasons or group of seasons are rated, but i wont go into detail here for now😉

I’m unsure if my enthusiasm, love, and knowledge matches the fandoms so perhaps I don’t consider myself one. But I don’t need to in order to enjoy the show! I meant not a romantic development but just two mega fans bonding 😅. Ships and my hopeless romantic self 😂😂 Ahhh yes. I love the representation of fan bases and media critiquing. The Meta commentary of them being in a book was great as you said. The more you mention it, it is about the differing perspectives but still respecting that and being able to be friends. Even with general friendships I find myself struggling with this. Or maybe that’s my elitism 😂 But the great part of this episode was the discussion of fandoms. We’ll find it everywhere but I think some meta commentary of the series itself from the early seasons into later on is prevalent. This also made me think about if the MLP fanbase has these separations. “Oh season 1-3 is amazing” “4-6 is whatever” or “7-9” is PEAK or dragging on” or something. Still a bit early but I’ll ask this as we get towards the end of the series so I avoid expectations.

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: - Liking the show doesn't automatically make you a Brony - it's totally up to you. You can call yourself one if you want, or simply enjoy watching a cartoon about magical horses making friends and going on adventures. Maybe you're just a fan of cartoons in general! 😅 - That said, there is one exception... If you're diving deep into the lore, getting involved in the fandom, buying MLP merchandise like plushies, or even attending conventions - well, at that point, you're definitely a Brony, no question about it. 😏 Oh no, poor Twilight! She has to attend a friendship summit in Griffonstone, which really shows how far that city has come to host such an event. Still, being a princess is never easy, right? I feel for you, Twilight! 😅 I love all these little details... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/91/The_Daring_Do_convention_S6E13.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/33/Rainbow_wanders_the_convention_hall_S6E13.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9e/Quibble_pointing_at_a_convention_booth_S6E13.png - Bodypillows... and are these Fluttershy's manga-cutouts from "Scare Master"? 😅 Booksvocation... adventurecation...something-something-cation... can you really repurpose these words like that? 😅 We get introduced to "Quibble Pants" who is another fan of Daring-Do, he is also another guest voice actor in MLP played by the comedian and actor Patton Oswalt. @4:10 I am wondering what you meant by "...not really into it. But these could be two fans geeking out and not what i think it is..." - what were you thinking about..? 🤨😏 The pony you mentioned is unofficially called "Cascada": https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/84/Cascada_ID_S6E13.png Your realization was hilarious, yes its a commentary about fandoms in general and also geared at MLP-fans. Turns out Quibble is a purist, who only likes the first 3 books and doesn't even want to speak about the others... which is - you got that right - also a reference to "Star Wars". Daring-Do had always that hair. That's some cosplay... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/8e/Rainbow_passes_by_ponies_in_Ahuizotl_costume_S6E13.png - DERPY! She is cosplaying as Dr. Caballeron 😄 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/81/Derpy_cosplaying_as_Dr._Caballeron_S6E13.png Quibble's refusal to accept the truth, even when it was right in front of him, was genuinely hilarious. Quibble Pants: "Uh-huh, and Daring Do has the amulet so you came up with this over-complicated plot to lure her into the jungle and exchange it for us."- Yeah... the writings are sometimes this convoluted 😅 Rainbow and Quibble together in the Jungle are also just hilarious... Quibble Pants' hairstyle is just part of his look, not a cosplay. Maybe that's why he ended up liking Daring-Do in the first place..? Quibble Pants: "No, I'm talking! Generic jungle location – check. Overly complicated villain plot – check. Random coincidences that conveniently get us to the next big set piece – check!" - "The only thing this mess is missing is some giant Ahuizotl wannabe monster, and I have a feeling that would be a bit too much for you bargain-basement adventurers to pull off!" - I like how the episode makes fun of itself. 😄 - The writers must have had fun with it. That smug face.... i can't... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/e/e1/Rainbow_puts_a_wing_around_Daring_Do_S6E13.png That backseat talking indeed 😅 Quibble Pants: "I love the Daring Do that solves puzzles and uses her brain to get out of tough situations, and she did way more of that in the original trilogy! You love the Daring Do that is brave and awesome and comes out on top no matter what the odds!" - "And that's okay!" [...] Quibble Pants: "I guess we don't have to agree on everything to get along." - A great message right here! The credit-scene in which Quibble babbles on and on was also another hilarious bit! The title "Stranger Than Fan Fiction" suggests that the real-life events are even more bizarre than anything fan fiction could imagine. This, I believe, is the intended meaning behind it. Bad pun? nope it was just allright! - A "daring" episode 😅 --- I understand why you might not be fond of the meta-reference regarding Daring Do's existence in the "My Little Pony" universe, but I found it a refreshing and fun twist. And while I get why some people don't enjoy Daring Do-centered episodes, I personally love them - partly because of the nods to Indiana Jones and my general love for adventure episodes. This particular episode is packed with references to other fandoms and media, notably with Quibble Pants critique mirroring the backlash that many long-running franchises like Star Wars or Ghostbusters have faced in recent years. In a way, the episode serves as a commentary on how fans perceive changes to beloved series, incorporating clever meta-humor that pokes fun at the concept of realism within its own universe of MLP. Quibble's complaints about "unrealistic" plot elements seem like a tongue-in-cheek response to common criticisms leveled at fictional works. The dynamic between Quibble Pants and Rainbow Dash feels like a direct reflection of real-world fandom debates. Quibble represents fans unhappy with the direction of MLP after certain changes, such as Twilight's transformation into an Alicorn or the addition of the castle and Flurry Heart. It's a dynamic we've seen in other franchises like Indiana Jones or Star Wars, where newer installments received mixed reactions from fans. Many saw this episode as a representation of these complaints within the MLP fandom itself, particularly the divide between those who preferred earlier seasons and those who embraced the show's evolution. The convention setting was also a fantastic inclusion, filled with nods to real-life MLP conventions like BronyCon, Everfree Northwest, and BabsCon - events that were huge around 2017 - Some of them are still going strong today. This aspect resonates with many fandoms that gather for conventions, bringing a layer of authenticity to the episode that fans can easily relate to. Quibble Pants is the perfect embodiment of the critical fan who dislikes later Daring Do books for being too "unrealistic," while Rainbow Dash defends them, loving every part of the series, especially the awesome ones. Despite their differing perspectives, the resolution where they respect each other's opinions is key. Most fans appreciated that Quibble wasn't just a "strawman" hater - his critiques about the overuse of convenient solutions in adventure stories were valid, making him a more complex character. The reactions to him were mixed: some found him relatable and enjoyed his character arc, while others found him irritating, though that was clearly part of his personality. As for me, I thought he fitted in well to this narrative. It's also amusing that Quibble's disdain for the later books parallels the real-life opinions of his voice actor, Patton Oswalt, who famously disliked the Star Wars prequels. One of the episode's main takeaways is that friends don't need to agree on everything to get along, a message that's applicable to the MLP fandom itself. It encourages fans to respect differing opinions without letting these differences impact friendships. In a broader sense, it touches on the problem of hostility in fandom culture and modern discourse, where people are quick to attack rather than listen. The episode reminds us that mutual respect, even in disagreement, is essential - and that's a lesson that goes far beyond just fandoms and should be incorporated in any discussion-culture which is going on nowadays... I also agree with your point about Rainbow Dash's character development. She's gradually becoming more open about her interests, like her love for reading adventure books and enjoying massages, and it's great to see her growth. I appreciate how the show subtly develops all the characters, not always dedicating full episodes to it but instead sprinkling moments of growth throughout. That's part of what makes the show so enjoyable for me. Overall, I loved the humor and commentary on the fandom in this episode. It rings so true - many fandoms, including MLP, deal with the issue of people saying the earlier seasons are better, just like how Star Wars fans regard the original trilogy as the best and criticize the newer ones. The episode was clever in addressing these differences while keeping it lighthearted and funny. Watching Rainbow Dash nerd out at the convention, full of jokes and references, alongside Quibble Pants was entertaining. Also her struggle to prove Daring Do's existence, with Quibble constantly dismissing everything, was hilarious, while the "adventure-cation" bit was another great moment, adding to the overall charm of the episode. It was a fantastic episode; full of humor, commentary, and heart. - It was another great reaction, Your realization was hilarious and your engagement about the fandoms was an interesting insight, especially about your take on Daring Do. Still, i am glad that you were able to enjoy it. 💙

All fan bases can relate 😂😅

I do enjoy this episode a lot even though I do agree with you daring do has never been my favorite thing or storyline in the show, I do love the fandom commentary in this episode it’s so true most fandoms have that issue where the later seasons even of mlp people say aren’t as good as the earlier seasons and especially Star Wars with the first trilogy being the best and the newer ones being the worst it’s so real, and I like the message at the end even if they don’t like the same parts of the story they can still be friends, also the convention part is great a lot of people thought of bronycon the biggest mlp con that ended in 2019 although there’s still plenty of mlp cons going strong today! every fandom has a convention or at least is included in one.
