CMC Build Karts! Not Really... | My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 6 Episode 14 REACTION + Discussion

Comments

I thought I am going to wrap up on some older reactions in a shorter manner to not get too much far behind πŸ˜… In this episode of My Little Pony, we see Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash imposing their own desires on their younger sisters instead of considering what the Cutie Mark Crusaders (CMC) truly wanted. Instead of letting Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo build their own carts, they took over the process, focusing more on their own preferences for tradition, creativity, or speed. It was clear that the CMC would have enjoyed the experience much more if they hadn't been overshadowed by their older sisters. As the episode progressed, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity eventually realized their mistake, but their behavior throughout felt selfish and, in some ways, uncharacteristic: - Rainbow Dash's focus on speed, driven by her love for competition and memories of her own childhood, felt similarly out of character. It didn't feel very loyal of her to completely dismiss Scootaloo's wishes. - Rarity, on the other hand, was consumed by her need for creative expression, stemming from a funny but somewhat trivial rivalry with Derpy over losing the "most creative" award during her childhood. Her obsession with winning this time, though humorous, wasn't reason enough to steamroll over Sweetie Belle's ideas. - Applejack's obsession with upholding family tradition, even to the point of guilt-tripping Apple Bloom by questioning if she was truly an "Apple", stood out as particularly frustrating. It's even more jarring when you recall that, back in Bloom & Gloom (S5E4), it was reassured that Apple Bloom wouldn't be abandoned by her sister for something like a cutie mark that had nothing to do with the Apple-family. Here, though, she seemed almost manipulative by insisting that the cart had to fit into some rigid Apple-family tradition. In the end, all three older sisters exaggerated their motivations, and I found Applejack's behavior the most troubling. Her insistence on family tradition crossed the line into what felt like blackmail, manipulating Apple Bloom into going along with her ideas. 😑 What made it worse was that none of them gave the CMC a real chance to work on the carts themselves, completely disregarding the numerous hints that their younger siblings wanted to do things differently. And to top it all off, they made the CMC ride as passengers in the race, which entirely killed the fun for them. The Crusaders clearly wanted to be in control of their own creations, not just sit back while their sisters took charge. 😣 Speaking of the race, can we talk about that track design? A three-way intersection in a race for kids? That was a crash waiting to happen. It was obviously designed to cause the inevitable pile-up, which is frustrating. I understand it was for the sake of the plot, but it felt like a lazy choice from the writers. Surely, they could've come up with a more believable way to cause chaos without compromising the practicality and safety of the track. πŸ˜’ While the episode wasn't great, it was still decent overall. The pacing was slow, and it took too long to reach the moral of the story. There was a fun song in the middle, and while catchy, it wasn't one of the stronger songs in the series, at least in my opinion. I did enjoy the moment when Derpy won the 'most creative' award despite having a plain wooden cart - it was a funny and unexpected twist. Cherilee's annoyance with the older sisters was also a highlight, and I was glad to see her as the goat by restarting the race with the proper rules in place. In the end, this episode faced a similar issue to 'Equestria Games' - though it wasn't as heavily hyped before. The focus shifted away from the main event, dwelling instead on the surrounding issues, which took up too much of the runtime to get to the point that was made. Or to describe this episode, there's joke I somewhere read: This episode really draws the line! The crusaders try to mend the line, but Rainbow dashes over the (not finish) line while Applejack shreds the line and Rarity won't notice any line unless it's a fashion line! --- Thanks again for reacting to this πŸ’™

I NEED that rivalry πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Yes I like the speaking up part which is real and intimidating

Not my favorite episode but i do think it’s a fun episode, most people agreed with you it’s a pretty slow episode, definitely mid for me but one of my favorite parts was derpy vs rarity lol πŸ˜‚ I do wish they had swapped ponies it would’ve really interesting concept working with the opposite ponies to see what happens, the song was enjoyable, the message was alright about it being hard to speak up for yourself to older ponies and just because your older doesn’t always mean you’re right, but it could’ve been done better, one of the more filler episodes for sure but it was cozy.
