Is there something you can't do? 😉 The CMC are flaunting their talents (well deserved) and meet with a challenge in form of an untypical chipper Griffin waiting for them... called Gabby. - And she wants a cutie mark... 👀 Gabby is voiced by Erin Mathews, she also voiced the little buffalo "Little Strongheart" from "Over a Barrel" (S2E21) Scootaloo: "Gabby, why do you even want a cutie mark? - It doesn't seem like a very... griffon-y thing to want." - Yeah... Twilight Sparkle: "I've read every book on the subject, and I've never read a thing about any creature other than a pony getting a cutie mark." Twilight Sparkle: "Um, I don't know if any of you remember, but using magic to get a cutie mark never really works out all that well." - All these callbacks in this episode 😅 "Call of the Cutie" (S1E12): Twilight unsuccessfully tries to make one magically appear on Apple Blooms flank "The Cutie Pox" (S2E06): Apple Bloom uses one of Zecora's ingredients to make it appear, but it has some serious side-effects. Yeah Gabby is a little bit annoying, but it just shows her enthusiasm and happiness. The CMC embark on an impossible task for the slight chance, that it might still happen. The song "Find the Purpose in Your Life" is a neat little banger, and yes the voice ("Michelle Creber") of Apple Bloom got much better since the beginning. "its frightening". An enthusiastic Twilight is soo adorable. But the slight chance slipped away, and it was still an impossible task... Scootaloo: "Gabby, finding your special purpose doesn't have to be about being good at something. It's about feeling good about something inside." Apple Bloom: "And it looks like your destiny is a whole lot like ours – helping others. And you don't need a symbol on your flank to know that." - And there it is, no cutie mark, but a purpose and the lesson of this show. And the CMC found another way to get her some cutie marks, made ones out of wood. he even get's to be a CMC-Member for Griffonstone, kind of like Babs is for Manehattan. But you are also right, it was way better than her introduction. I find her design neat and appealing, and she proves to be highly capable in everything she does. While some fans felt Gabby came dangerously close to being a "Mary Sue" (a character without flaws), her overwhelming eagerness and enthusiasm add layers to her character, preventing her from falling into that category. Gabby has a deep desire to receive a cutie mark, a trait inherently reserved for ponies.
