Don't be sorry, i was just kidding πŸ˜… Red herring, hm... πŸ‘€πŸ€” Yeah it was a very good and solid episode

Sorry the intros are random and unscripted πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… And yes seems my predictions were all coming true! Love it. Ooooh wow you’re right!!! This makes pinkie’s actions much more understandable as that initial meeting made her anxious about it all. But as we speak about pinkie, yes she did not allow for the friendship to blossom naturally. and I still prefer the shared experiences from trixie and starlight but I still appreciate the not serious and comforting connection they share. And of course we can’t forget the amazing connection they shared prior to this. And wow did not know there was Maud lore with the stones! Or perhaps just a red herring But this was one of my favorite episodes this season and was a blast! Starlight and Maud! AHHH!

Ed

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: - I got an eerie vibe from your intro... please don't do that again πŸ˜…πŸ˜‹ She is called Dr. Maudileena Daisy Pie now πŸ˜„ It's funny that you mention Maud living in Ponyville… because that's exactly what this episode is about! 🀣 Are you psychic?! *imitating Human Pinkie Voice* Dang these poor Ponies: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/dd/Pinkie_doing_cartwheels_S7E4.png This is how Maud would look like if she smiled... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c5/Pinkie_smiling_with_Maud_hairstyle_S7E4.png Ghastly Gorge was the canyon first seen in "May the Best Pet Win!" (S2E07) with those nasty eels. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/6/61/Quarray_eels_looking_at_the_flyers_S2E7.png Maud Pie: "[deadpan] It's a rock-based decision." - ofc it is, as nature intended 😏 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/0e/Pinkie_Pie_playing_a_harp_S7E4.png 🀣 Rarity: "Oh, you're an absolute darling! This will surely make my gown stand out at Countess Coloratura's album release party. Do you know how rare this is?" Maud Pie: "[deadpan] These are all really common gems." - ooof poor Rarity... but it still seems like it's worth a lot... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/71/Pinkie_covered_in_stingbush_seed_pods_S7E4.png - I winced at that... "Pinkie youre out of control"... and out of air: πŸ˜‚ https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/00/Pinkie_Pie_deflating_in_front_of_Maud_S7E4.png "If she is going to be friends with Starlight, I am going to lose it..." - - Ed, are you trying to show off your fortune-teller or jinx abilities? It's crazy to think that Maud surprisingly met Starlight Glimmer back at the end of Season 4 while working on her "Rocktorate". In a roundabout way, she might have unintentionally played a part in Starlight's earlier communist cult! 🀣 Pinkie Pie: "[laughs] Hey, I got an idea. Let's not tell anypony that part where you maybe, for sure, accidentally helped Starlight enslave a town! [laughs, seriously] Tell nopony!" - this might be the best choice... πŸ˜… Starlight Glimmer: "[chuckling weakly, sighs] Well, great seeing you again. I gotta run a few errands. [sighs]" Pinkie Pie: "[through the side of her mouth] Offer to help." Maud Pie: "[deadpan] What?" Pinkie Pie: "Offer to help!" Starlight Glimmer: "You wanna help?" Maud Pie: "[deadpan] Do I?" Pinkie Pie: "Of course you do! Go!" Maud Pie: "[deadpan] Okay." - This was a good push from Pinkie, after that she was just annoying... πŸ˜“πŸ€” Maud Pie: "[deadpan] Rocks take on different properties when interacting with magic. With the right stone, you could rule all of Equestria if you wanted to." Starlight Glimmer: "You're messing with me." Maud Pie: "[deadpan] Am I?" - Is she though? πŸ˜… - but let's be real... shouldn't they contain these stones, so no one can get them? Starlight Glimmer: "The trick with an S.L.K. is not to make the spars too heavy. But if they're too light, you've got no ballast and then good luck tacking against the A.O.I.! [beat] I really like kites." https://derpicdn.net/img/2017/4/30/1425216/large.png - This is new and exciting..! Interestingly, it was even subtly foreshadowed in the season 7 finale, where it appeared in the background of her room: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/249/067/f1b.png This was such a good moment, which got disturbed by Pinkie... πŸ˜‘ Maud Pie: "[deadpan] Sorry about my sister. There's no half-excited with her." Starlight Glimmer: "Oh, I know. But she always calms down. Eventually." - But they both know all about Pinkie's "over-the-top, super-hyper antics" (as Rainbow Dash called her back in Season 2) and even manage to bond over it. 😏 Starlight Glimmer: "They're beautiful and strong, but they don't judge you or make you feel less than in any way. I think I'm starting to like rocks, too." - Me too, Starlight, me too πŸ˜„ https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/53/Maud_Pie_starting_to_like_Starlight_Glimmer_S7E4.png - Maud's true smile is even better than Pinkies imitation πŸ˜„ https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/5e/Waterfall_grotto_in_the_gem_cave_S7E4.png - this is truly a great cave and home for Maud 🀩 Yeah… where did that TNT come from? πŸ€” But then again, we are talking about Pinkie… Maybe she stashed TNT everywhere just in case of a TNT emergency, like she's done with so many other things before. Who knows? Oh, Pinkie... are you trying your hardest to be unlikable in this episode? You even posed for a photo with a fake background, completely ignoring the beautiful cave right behind you... With that she drove away Maud... which was really sad... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/05/Starlight_Glimmer_wakes_up_startled_S7E4.png - no comment 🀣 Starlight Glimmer: "Pinkie Pie, I like Maud." Pinkie Pie: "You do?" Starlight Glimmer: "Yeah. She's weird!" Pinkie Pie: "Hey!" Starlight Glimmer: "No, in a good way! She sees the world in a totally different way than anypony I've ever met. She accepts me for who I am. She taught me that a rock is never just a rock, and she could make anything funny. We never had to say it, but we got each other." - It was subtle, but these friendships naturally formed through a connection that brought them together. Starlight Glimmer: "I think so, but you kinda sorta... got in the way." Pinkie Pie: "[deep gasp]" Starlight Glimmer: "[gasps] You're right, too harsh. Let's go with... You ruined everything all the time?" Pinkie Pie: "[whimper]" - I hate to say it, Pinkie you deserved that... Ghastly Gorge is truly a dangerous place... Pinkie Pie: "Don't say that! It was all my fault! I thought I knew everything about making friends, but I didn't even know my own sister! I forced you to do things my way, but my way isn't your way!" [...] Pinkie Pie: "Maud, I thought you couldn't make a friend without my help, but it turns out you couldn't make a friend with my help. I underestimated you. And I'm sorry." - finally! She came to her senses... πŸ˜΅πŸ˜… I hecking love Maud's new home! Its so beautiful: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/82/Maud_Pie%27s_new_Ponyville_home_S7E4.png --- In this episode the dynamic between Starlight Glimmer and Maud Pie takes center stage, offering a fresh and nuanced look at the complexities of friendship. "Dr. Maudileena Daisy Pie" (Mauds full name), with her signature deadpan humor and unique personality, remains a fan favorite, continuing to captivate us with her quirky charm. After earning her "Rocktorate," which she might have began studying for after the events of the Season 4 finale, Maud considers moving to Ponyville. The alternative was Ghastly Gorge, an area rich in the stones Maud loves to excavate but notoriously hostile in environment. Initially, Maud's decision was based solely on the geological benefits of the locations, a "rock-based-decision". However, her desire to make a friend who shares her interests, particularly in rocks, ultimately sways her toward Ponyville. Her unexpected and slightly odd friendship with Starlight Glimmer develops naturally, with their mutual understanding and shared apathy toward social norms creating a relatable and refreshing bond. Which is why i have to disagree with your opinion: This friendship feels more organic than Starlight's connection with Trixie, as Maud and Starlight find comfort in each other's company without needing constant verbal communication or overt displays of emotion. They simply "get" each other, inspiring one another despite their different perspectives. 😏 Maud's "Rocktorate" graduation is a perfect reflection of her character, with its understated tone matching her dry personality and the peculiar nature of the Pie family. The episode also hints at Maud's knowledge extending beyond the mundane, as she identifies stones with mystical properties, adding an intriguing layer to her character. Starlight Glimmer's growth is once again highlighted in this episode. Without Twilight Sparkle's presence, Starlight navigates her developing friendship with Maud on her own, showcasing her ability to form meaningful connections independently. This episode subtly hints that Maud might become part of Starlight's growing circle of friends, possibly forming a "B-Team" akin to the Mane Six. It's also revealed through a flashback that this isn't Starlight's first encounter with Maud - they briefly crossed paths during Starlight's villainous days, adding an interesting albeit questionable layer of history to their relationship. πŸ˜… Maud's knowledge of powerful rocks, such as the one she shows Starlight that can store cutie marks, hints at deeper implications. It's a bit unsettling to consider that Maud might be aware of other stones with abilities potent enough to pose a threat to Equestria. The episode even teases the idea that Maud could have at one time stumbled upon a certain stone capable of nullifying magic, which might have been indirectly acquired by Queen Chrysalis prior to the Season 6 finale... Starlight's unexpected enthusiasm for kites adds an amusing dimension to her character, providing some of the episode's lighter moments. Her technical knowledge of kites is as surprising as it is humorous, endearing her further for me. Pinkie Pie's enthusiasm about Maud potentially moving to Ponyville drives much of the episode's conflict. Her excitement, however, quickly turns into overzealousness as she tries to force a friendship between Maud and Starlight Glimmer. However, this backfires when Maud feels overwhelmed by Pinkie's meddling, revealing that Pinkie was somewhat disconnected from reality, but this behavior may also hint at a deeper sense of desperation, possibly rooted in her past experience when Maud initially struggled to connect with Pinkie's other friends in the "Maud Pie" episode from Season 4. This experience could have left a lasting impact on Pinkie, making her overly anxious about ensuring that Maud forms strong bonds with others. - Pinkie also misses subtle signs that a natural friendship is beginning to form between Maud and Starlight, likely because she's used to being more directly involved in such matters and very extrovert about it. The episode's resolution sees Pinkie learning an important lesson: she cannot force friendships, and they must be allowed to develop on their own. While it's true that one can encourage others to connect, Pinkie's initial attempt to have Maud help Starlight with her errands was a positive example for that. It quickly escalated However, and she went too far in the end, which led to the episode's central conflict. Overall, "Rock Solid Friendship" is a standout episode that successfully blends humor, character development, and deeper themes. It's exciting to see Maud living near Ponyville in a stunning adjacent cave, and the unexpected friendship between Maud and Starlight is both surprising and delightful. The humor in the episode largely revolves around Pinkie's antics, Maud's deadpan delivery, and her interactions with Starlight, with rock-related jokes and some technical kite humor adding to the mix. The episode strikes a balance between lighthearted silliness and the more profound themes of friendship, acceptance, and celebrating one's differences. - Ed, you again knocked it out of the park with your reaction this time, it was very enjoyable to watch and absolutely great to see you this excited about your prediction being on point... and that two times in a row! - It was hilarious! - Thank you! πŸ’™ P.S.: I hope you like my little gift on discord πŸ˜…

Dreams do come true! Sunset and Starlight. Now Maud and Starlight. Great times we are in. Yes exactly. She needed it to be dramatic but both connected much more subtly and quietly. Lmfao Maud starting the entire grand peak of MLP is crazy retcon πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Ed

Omg starlight and maud being friends is like a dream come true they are two of my favorites in the show, I do agree pinkie was annoying in this one definitely getting in the way, a bit out of character but that was the point she was so focused on maud and starlight bonding so maud would move to ponyville she even thinking just leaving them alone to bond and I guess she was thinking they weren’t bonding because it wasn’t like super noticeable, it was more so natural connection, but in the end pinkie learned a lesson to leave them alone to bond naturally and become friends and leave the moving decision up to maud, it’s crazy how maud sorta accidentally started starlights communist cult 🀣 by telling her where to find the stone that holds the cutie marks crazy stuff we are getting in this season, it’s off to a great start
