Some people are never satisfied - they often end up ruining things for themselves by doing that without recognizing it themselves.
Ah... okay - if you got it fixed thats good.

This episode was so good! Loved the cozy story telling and how each story paralleled that ponies main personality. Gave us insight to their characters and starts a mini overarching arc for this season. It was nice that the hunch was there. World building, great stories, and all under a campfire!
Seems the fans are eager 😂. I to want more history, lore, and princesses but to say the episode is bad because it didn’t include a desire I think discredits the great qualities this episode has AND sets up.
It was awesome seeing the dragons as well! Any dragons mention is great to see!
Think the tab just shut down randomly so it makes things much harder to edit which frustrates me. Luckily it wasn’t a difficult fix

Oooh i likes thie episode very much...
- Some notes/thoughts/facts: -
Oh, no extravagant tent this time, Rarity?
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/39/AJ_and_Apple_Bloom_finish_raising_their_tent_S7E16.png
- and not much extra package either:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/7a/Sweetie_Belle_%22you_only_packed_three_suitcases%22_S7E16.png
- Although she is right, laterns make it quite beautifully - neat!
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/d7/Rarity_%22what_is_life_if_you_can%27t_make_it_beautiful%3F%22_S7E16.png
- Something doesn't add up here:
Applejack: "Then it wouldn't be annual. And if we did it every weekend, it probably wouldn't be as special."
- So the this trip is annual...
Scootaloo: "I guess I still get a little bit scared out here, even after the last camping trip."
- If she's referring to "Sleepless in Ponyville", there have been at least two "Hearth's Warming Eve" celebrations between then and now, which implies a one-year gap. But for the sake of the writers, I'd simply assume that either Scootaloo couldn't go last time or had similar issues, while Apple Bloom was camping with Sweetie Belle alone during that time.
These Bugs are called Fly-ders... and they're kind of wasps?
Oh, neat detail here: Sweetie Belle is using a shield spell! She's really improved her magic and seems to be getting better at it than her sister, who just relies on telekinesis to wields a fly swatter. 😃
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/fe/Rarity%2C_Sweetie%2C_and_Scootaloo_still_in_the_swarm_S7E16.png
- I bet she learned that from Twilight during their "Twilight Time" lessons, as shown in the episode of the same name ("Twilight Time," S4E15). This raises the question of whether the CMC still take these lessons.
Applejack: "Flyders are from the Luna Bay area."
- So there is a place called Luna Bay? That reminds me, do you want to see a map of Equestria up until this point? Here, have a go:

Wow thats quite the feat to transfer a firepit in mere seconds without hurting yourself Rainbow... well except for the Fly-der bites. - These must hurt a lot... 😅
And we get wonderful stories about MLP-Lore with flashbacks! Worldbuilding!!!
I like the Norse designs. Especially Rockhoof's strengthened form, his cutie mark is btw a Valknut Symbol from the norse mythology representing a connection with the god Odin (also in broader sense the god of magic and death) and is often associated with combat and death... which is an interesting depiction for a kids show 😅

All viewers of your reaction in one picture:
Apple Bloom: [fangirl squealing]

Deus ex machina magical shovel turning him into a strong stallion!
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/ce/Rockhoof%27s_body_filling_with_magic_S7E16.png
- and no he already had his cutie mark before.
Rockhoof received the shovel from one of the Mighty Helms, who may not have realized that it is, in fact, an artifact:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c7/Green_MH_pony_giving_Rockhoof_a_shovel_S7E16.png
Rarity: "Oh, no-no-no-no, no, not true. There's beauty in everything. Even these blah rocks aren't really blah. If you look closely, you can see flecks of gold in them."
- She was around Maud to much I guess 😁
Rarity: "And the way the firelight dances on the cave wall, shadow and light? Ooh, it's so gorgeous! Sweetie Belle, have I ever told you about my favorite legend?"
- I love that pep-talk from her - but PLEASE can someone tell me how she did that with her hooves? 😅

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/22/Shadow_puppet_of_Mistmane_walking_S7E16.png
I love Mistmane's lore and its captivating Asian-inspired setting! The character designs are truly unique, and the magic it portrays is incredibly intriguing! Sorcery! 🤩 - I wonder, is typical unicorn magic then wizardry? - what do you think?
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/a7/Mistmane%27s_Eastern_village_home_S7E16.png
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/b/b2/Mistmane%27s_magic_school_classroom_S7E16.png
- I love all these details they have put in here.
This looks really cool, I want more of those well crafted fights! 😄
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/1/15/Fire_and_water_dragons_curl_around_each_other_S7E16.png
Rarity: "Beauty isn't everything. But Mistmane knew that it does have the power to make ponies smile."
- Well yes, its true. - And a sentence I wouldn't ever have expected from her, at least in earlier seasons... she has come a long way 😄
Well… it looks like that first camping trip had a lasting impact on Scootaloo. It must have been quite traumatic for her to react with such terror and hyperventilation like she did here. Otherwise she isn't this terrified of things...
This is about Flash Magnus, not Flash Sentry (from EQG)! 😅
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/b/b0/Dragons_appear_before_the_Royal_Legion_S7E16.png
- That's horrifying... so this is absolutely understandable:

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/aa/Torch_opening_his_massive_glowing_maw_S7E16.png
Yes... he looks like the former Dragonlord Torch, Embers father:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/7c/Torch_bellowing_fire_breath_S7E16.png
Apple Bloom: "The commander was right. You can't outfight dragons."
Rainbow Dash: "But you can out-think them."
- Another sentence that I wouldn't have expected to come from Rainbow herself...
Commander Ironhead is voiced by Paul Dobson.
Thats quite the picture:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9e/Dragons_getting_struck_by_lightning_S7E16.png
- I doubt it's a good idea to fly into a stormcloud with a metallic-shield...
That's so sweet:

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/fd/Rainbow_and_Scootaloo_share_a_sisterly_hug_S7E16.png
Rarity isn't afraid to get wet... 😮
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/b/b7/Rainbow_and_Scootaloo_float_down_the_stream_S7E16.png
- This reminds me of the movie "The Jungle Book"...
Finally they arrive at Winsome Falls, a beautiful place:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/a6/Full_view_of_Winsome_Falls_S7E16.png
Scootaloo: "And I bet we could find some more berries! Come on! I can't wait to see what happens next year!"
- Would you look at that, she isn't as afraid as before anymore...

This episode serves as a beautiful callback to Sleepless in Ponyville, where Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash went camping with their "sisters" (the Cutie Mark Crusaders) on their way to Winsome Falls. It revisits the dynamic from that earlier episode, continuing the character development of the Crusaders while adding some interesting new layers:
This time, unlike her previous camping trip where she over-packed and struggled to adapt for Sweetie Belle's sake, Rarity is much more practical, bringing only what's necessary and even finding herself enjoying the experience. I like her growth, particularly in how she handles this situation. Meanwhile, we see that Scootaloo still carries fears from her prior experience in Sleepless in Ponyville, though now she has Rainbow Dash by her side for support. While her fear may have seemed a bit exaggerated, it felt more like it was played for comic relief and a means to portray how Rainbows tale calmed her down in the end. Despite that, the sibling dynamics in this episode were heartwarming and felt very wholesome. The way they all depend on each other now, especially Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, marks a significant step forward in their relationships. It's clear they've grown, and their bond is stronger than before. But while this camping trip evoked a strong sense of nostalgia, the true essence of the episode lies in its rich worldbuilding through the lore being told.
I love how this episode sets out to expand the lore of My Little Pony, linking the past with the present through the stories of three legendary characters: Rockhoof, Mistmane, and Flash Magnus. Each tale was unique and enriched the cultural tapestry of Equestria, giving us a glimpse into different mythologies within the MLP universe:
Rockhoof's story, with its Norse-inspired elements, stood out for me as a fan of Norse culture. However, I felt his transformation happened too abruptly, almost like a deus ex machina. There's been debate over whether it was divine intervention, personal magic, or some external spell. Personally, I believe his shovel acted as an ancient artifact, gifted by the Mighty Helms without them realizing its true power, because it's not the typical weapon you'd expect a Viking-like warrior to have. Anyway it required Rockhoof's courage of strength to activate its magical potential. His act of courage, digging a trench to protect the village from lava, was the defining moment that triggered the shovel's power and made it possible to rescue the village, which was a satisfying touch despite the suddenness.
Mistmane's story, however, was my favorite. It was beautifully crafted, drawing clear inspiration from Asian cultures, which I always appreciate. Her story begins as a beloved and talented unicorn, but her success sparks envy in her friend, Sable Spirit, who seizes the throne and becomes empress. Sable's jealousy leads her to misuse magic in a bid for beauty, a spell that backfires and leaves her disfigured. Mistmane's response to this is truly moving. After a visually stunning magical battle, Mistmane who won doesn't retaliate with violence but instead sacrifices her own beauty to restore the landscape and even reverse some of the damage done to Sable. This peaceful, selfless act speaks volumes about her character and the values she embodies. I like how this refreshing resolution, emphasized harmony over revenge.
Lastly, Flash Magnus's story takes place in a Greco-Roman inspired setting, which had already been explored in the show before. But this time, his tale is one of heroism, bravery and quick thinking. When two Pegasus cadets are captured by dragons, Flash Magnus devises a clever plan to distract the dragons, using the shield Netitus to protect himself from their fire while his comrades escape. The action in this segment was also exhilarating, and the inclusion of dragons added an interesting layer. It even made me wonder if the dragon they encountered might have been Torch, the former Dragon Lord, which would be fascinating considering the timeline. This raises the question of just how long dragons like Spike might live, which is an intriguing thought for the larger lore of the show.
Overall, this episode succeeded in blending different cultural elements into the world of My Little Pony, especially with its inclusion of Norse, Asian, and Greco-Roman influences. I was particularly impressed by Mistmane's tale, with its Asian-themed unicorns and dragon-like spells. The attention to these cultural details enriched the worldbuilding and gave the episode a depth that was both visually and narratively stunning for me.
However, there were some minor shortcomings. As much as I enjoyed Rockhoof's story, his transformation felt a little too convenient, taking away from the emotional buildup. Additionally, while the worldbuilding was the highlight of the episode, some fans felt that it didn't dive deep enough into the lore. Important elements like the creation of Equestria or the backstory of major characters like Celestia and Luna were left unexplored. I suspect this was due to the constraints of the 25-minute episode format, which could have benefited from a double-episode to fully flesh out these legends. But, as you now know, the series finale did expand on these threads in a way.
In the end, this episode offered a lot in terms of character development and worldbuilding, making it an enjoyable and meaningful addition to the series, especially for long-time fans like me invested in the lore.
