My Little Pony: The Movie REACTION + Discussion

Well in hindsight I might have lied about Tempest... but don't get your hopes up it's not the way you might think... Starlight is powerful, no doubt about it... especially if the feelings get the better of her. And if she were present, i am sure she could have made a difference in a way, but well maybe it would have gone like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRKaADr-OYU 🤣 Hey you don't need to appeal to our opinions during your reactions. - But it's nice that you appreciate our input.

What a mixed bag this was huh?! Some amazing stuff with the world building, dynamics between the mane 6, new species, and the incredible and undeniable Tempest. I know you said we don’t see her but I hope its one of those situations where you are just talking per my status with the series since I feel she is too good of a character to never return to. And I love her but she was definitely super edgy 😂😂 And reading your analysis also made me appreciate the movie a lot more. Even though I understood why Twilight acted this way, it helped me also not be as harsh when I look back on it. I do sympathize with her not thinking what she learned was applicable but definitely still a moment that stings. Also my interest in capper isn’t there but I see his purpose. I loved the pirates soooo much! Such a great story and how they also come in the end was heroic. Ah yes, the storm king. Just feels like a lifeless villain or a Walmart Discord. I agree that tempest should have been the main antagonist here with storm king maybe lurking or plotting in the background. And yes his death was actually insane! And no Starlight, AJ and Fluttershy (besides that one moment) was also unfortunate but I get why Starlight wasn’t here but I’m still not okay with it 😂. Maybe she still couldn’t do anything but I think starlight on paper seems like she can be the most powerful pony in Equestria so I know she could’ve done something. Even with all the airing out and venting, still many awesome things about that. And as I said, your insight makes me reflect on it a bit more in a positive way! I’m glad you enjoyed and it definitely still was a great to experience it and with you guys!

Oh well... this will be again a long one... I am sorry in advance! - ?Some? (who am i kidding?!) notes/thoughts/facts: - I apologize again for sending the wrong link. That said, I still prefer the original opening and the intended music over the later pop version. The anthem-like "Equestria" music is so fitting and really well done. That being said, "We Got the Beat" was still a banger, if it wasn't for the swap... 😏 And to address the elephant in the room: yes, you're right, Twilight's behavior was a bit odd. But there's a simple explanation for that: The film script was actually written in 2014, around the beginning of Season 4. This is why newer characters like Discord, Starlight Glimmer, the Griffons, Changelings, and Dragons didn't have more prominent roles. It also explains why Twilight's character felt somewhat out of place for Season 7 - her portrayal was closer to her more insecure, less independent self from Seasons 3/4, which led to the fallout with Pinkie." Also various subplots, such as a lengthy trek through a massive, alien-looking forest beyond Equestria and other different encounters along the journey, were cut or shortened to condense the story. However, characters like Starlight, Sassy Saddles, and Discord were added later as background cameos during the Friendship Festivals. I love the design of these glass-windows! This movie is in 2D with 3D-Backgrounds, it's an interesting choice. The overall style is neat, and you're right - the pupils are a bit too large, especially for a close-up shot. Spike: It'll be fine. Just remember the most important thing. Twilight Sparkle: Smile?! Spike: Eh... no. You're a Princess, too. - That's a reminder and a certain hint to the original time-setting of this movie. The royal throne room got quite the makeover... Princess Luna finally has her own throne now: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/aa/Princesses_in_the_Canterlot_throne_room_MLPTM.png A guy named KopaLeo made an effort to explain what is seen on the whiteboard: https://www.deviantart.com/stash/01en7f55hinl Welp, this is the only afterthought to Discord: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/88/Pinkie_Pie_ties_a_Discord_balloon_MLPTM.png You're right, this movie definitely has Disney vibes, which is interesting. Some people disliked that since it didn't match the tone of the series. Rarity: "If you were raised in a barn! Ahem, no offense, Applejack." Applejack: "None taken. Especially since I wasn't raised in a barn. My family just happens to have a barn. Where I was born. And... spent most of my formative years..." Rainbow Dash: "[very quickly] Raised in a barn!" 🤣 Spike still having a crush on Rarity is another reminder to Season 3/4. By Season 7, their dynamic seemed to evolve into more of a close friendship. 🤔 The song 'We Got This Together' is a fantastic entry for the Mane 6, and I really enjoy it. There's also an interesting DnB remix of it worth checking out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVQ5MNzEGM4 Wow Bulk Biceps is even more buff than usual here: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/82/Bulk_Biceps_punching_a_high_striker_game_MLPTM.png - Even destroying the apparatus: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/d5/Bulk_Biceps_breaks_bell_on_high_striker_game_MLPTM.png - I think he is forbitten from partaking in it from now on. 😅 Holy moly that's quite the photo that Photo Finish made from Twilight: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/fe/Glamour_photo_of_Twilight_and_Spike_MLPTM.png DJ Pon-3! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/0e/Twilight_flies_over_DJ_Pon-3%27s_soundstage_MLPTM.png And Octavia: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/0b/Fluttershy_and_orchestra_on_the_stage_MLPTM.png Rarity's co-workers name is Sassy Saddles. Tree Hugger was the other one you forgot. 😅 And Coco-Pommel! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/23/Sassy_and_Coco_join_Rarity_and_Twilight_MLPTM.png Yes Moon Dancer and her friends from Canterlot - great observation Ed! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/cb/Twilight_looks_at_Moon_Dancer_and_friends_MLPTM.png And Starlight together with Trixie! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/6/65/Trixie_shooting_off_fireworks_MLPTM.png And Cheese Sandwich as one of the biggest party planners had to be there: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/b/b5/Giant_pile_of_Pinkie%27s_construction_materials_MLPTM.png Derpy and the Wonderbolts! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/d2/Wonderbolts_and_Derpy_doing_aerial_choreography_MLPTM.png And some other ponies like Apple Cobbler, Apple Fritter, Berryshine, Red Delicious, Lyra Heartstrings, Caramel Apple. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/6/60/Ponies_waving_to_Princess_Twilight_MLPTM.png Songbird Serenade is voiced and sung by the famous singer SIA! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/cb/Songbird_Serenade_arrives_MLPTM.png Also Songbird Serenade's bodyguards resemble Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, portrayed by John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson respectively, in the film Pulp Fiction from 1994. Party Favor: "Brian, no!" - Oh noooo! - That is btw. that balloon guy from Starlight's former Village who build a bridge out of balloons... neat detail! This dark airship initially feels completely out of place here... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/6/6b/Storm_King%27s_airship_descends_on_Canterlot_%28new_version%29_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/e/e7/Grubber_looking_blankly_at_Tempest_MLPTM.png "Who in the Lilo and Stitch are you?!" - I can't believe you just said that 🤣 But yeah, that hedgehog guy, Grubber, definitely gave off that vibe and I have to admit, I dislike him. He's supposed to be the comic relief character for the Storm King / Tempest, but he got way too outshined by Pinkie Pie... Oh wow... the princesses step in: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/0a/The_princesses_confront_Tempest_Shadow_MLPTM.png - And they directly lost here, but who would have known that Storm King's army is able to penetrate magic shields - they came quite prepared... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/97/Cadance_holding_back_the_obsidian_sphere_MLPTM.png The bigger question is, why wasn't their invasion detected long before they reached Canterlot? Maybe those dark clouds served as some kind of camouflage..? Interestingly, Tempest Shadow originally had a completely different design and backstory. Her current form evolved from a character called Cosmos, who was initially meant to be Celestia's brother and the main villain in the original draft. From there, she transformed into a pony composed of various animal parts, similar to Discord. Later, she was reimagined as a mysterious figure in a monstrous suit of armor that concealed her identity, and then as a rugged survivalist who leaned more towards anti-hero than villain. - In the end, she became what we know today: a henchman to the Storm King. Talk about a degradation... 😅 - It still turned out great! And the tone gets really dark here... Princess Celestia: "'Tempest' is it? How may we help you?" Tempest Shadow: "Oh, I'm so glad you asked. How about we start with your complete and total surrender?" Princess Luna: "And why should we cower before you? There's one of you and hundreds of us." Tempest Shadow: "[chuckles] I was hoping you'd choose "difficult"." - Oh, Luna... you had to challenge it... It's somewhat unexpected and a bit awkward to see these opposites collide: an army invading Canterlot, with its pastel-colored pony citizens, facing off against the dark forces of the Storm King... I truly wouldn't want to fight Tempest with moves like that: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9b/Tempest_Shadow_hurling_a_dark_ball_of_energy_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/57/Tempest_kicking_another_obsidian_sphere_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/39/Tempest_pouncing_toward_Twilight_Sparkle_MLPTM.png Rainbow Dash saved Twilight who couldn't save herself as she was saving Luna, who nearly got killed by crushing petrified to the ground... but the real MVP here is Derpy who jumped in front of Twilight to prevent her from getting hit! - "Get down Mr. President!" https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/70/Derpy_encased_in_obsidian_stone_MLPTM.png Starlight would have been cool to see here, but, as I mentioned, it wasn't possible since her introduction came well into the movie's production. - That said, I don't think she had any better chance than the others, given they had anti-magic shields and shield-penetrating orbs? What do you think? 🤔 All hope is lost... Or is it? Great shot btw. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/1/14/Twilight_Sparkle_taking_on_Luna%27s_mission_MLPTM.png Twilight Sparkle: "Celestia told Luna to find the Queen of the... 'Hippos'. Luna can't, so I have to." Rainbow Dash: "Uh, hippos? Seriously?" Pinkie Pie: "I've heard they're surprisingly graceful for their size. Huh, but they're always hungry." Spike: "Hungry?" Applejack: "Hippos?" - This is funny because there does in fact exist a board game called "Hungry Hungry Hippos" also owned by Hasbro: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungry_Hungry_Hippos Well... if you would have put up OBS you could have stopped for a moment and fetch your water 😏 "Sombra all over again..." - yes... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c0/Communication_potion_in_Storm_Guard%27s_claws_MLPTM.png - So, it's the same kind of potion magic that Zecora uses, allowing the potion to work as a communication device. - If you don't have magic, you just make it yourself through other means 😅. - Also, it kind of sounds like the iPhone ringtone... 🤨 And we get introduced to the Storm King, who is voiced by Liev Schreiber... Tempest's mission was to capture all four alicorns and transfer their magic into the "Staff of Sacanas", enabling the Storm King to harness its power to create storms. Interestingly, there were other planned openings for the story that were ultimately scrapped. One version featured the Storm King stealing the staff from the Arimaspi King - one of those one-eyed creatures who previously attempted to steal the "Idol of Boreas" from the Griffins, leading to their loss of pride. Another idea included an aged Scorpan (Tirek's brother) as the original owner of the staff. Pinkie Pie: "[panting] There's sand in my... everything... Heh... Saving... Equestria... [demented laugh] Oh! Look! Maybe this guy knows which way to go! What's that, friend? We're lost? [demented laugh, coughs, faints]" Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Spike: "[panting]" - Poor Mane 6 😵 Spike: "We could be going in... circles! Endless... sand... [inhales] Nothin' for miles... but sand... [breathes] and this rock... [coughs] and this cactus... [breathes] and this roooooooooaaaaaad.... [breathes, faints, breathes] ...this rooooooad...." - Poor Spike 😅 Wow... that animation style really emphasizes certain status effects, facial expressions, and body language quite a lot. - Why do I get the feeling these animators had way too much fun with this..? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/4/49/Mane_Six_and_Spike_crossing_the_desert_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/90/Pillbug_crawling_across_Pinkie_Pie%27s_face_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/5d/Spike_%22nothing_for_miles%22_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/55/Spike_collapses_on_the_ground_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/93/The_Mane_Six_arrive_at_Klugetown_MLPTM.png Welcome to Klugetown, a stark contrast to Canterlot - designed to embody a sense of hopelessness and menace. Is this a reference to Angry Birds? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/db/Klugetowners_catch_the_bird_in_a_cage_MLPTM.png This is definitely no place for Fluttershy... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/53/Klugetown_birds_squawking_at_Fluttershy_MLPTM.png Twilight Sparkle: "Okay. We just gotta stick together. Be careful who you talk to. And try to blend in." - Which, honestly, isn't exactly easy when you're a pastel-colored pony in a place that looks like it's been drained of color. Plus, Pinkie's definitely not making it any easier with her loud announcements. And to top it off, they want to capture them to sell... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/51/Klugetowners_surround_Mane_Six_and_Spike_MLPTM.png Luckily Capper comes into play and helps them out of this dangerous situation... I don't know why, but I like him. - He is voiced by Taye Diggs. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/88/Capper_dusting_off_his_jacket_MLPTM.png Capper was initially conceived as a fox named Mendax, a nod to the Latin word for "liar." In this version, he had a sentient scorpion's tail that revealed his true motives beneath his cheerful exterior. He also bore a hidden deformity—such as an extra set of eyes or a pair of antennae—which Rarity would help him accept. Beyond a cat and fox, the artists explored other potential species for Capper, including a black-footed ferret, a Siberian husky, and a honey badger. Another alternative name considered for him was Tybalt. - That said, I do like his current design... The next song is 'I'm the Friend You Need', performed by him. I loved the visuals, and the music itself was really fun to listen to. - However, it seems that he's not quite the friend the ponies need - at least not yet... Interesting "self"-portrait... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9d/Rarity_looking_at_Capper%27s_%22self-portrait%22_MLPTM.png Ed, you are really wild for calling Tempest out for being an edgelord... 🤣 I definitely wouldn't even dream to go up against her... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/09/Tempest_tossing_the_fish_creature_by_the_tail_MLPTM.png Rarity: "Here you go. I do apologize. If we were back home, I could've done something truly fabulous." Capper: "Okay... What's the catch?" Rarity: "Nothing. After all that you've done for us, consider it a "thank you"." Capper: "Oh. Uh, don't thank me. Really." Rarity's generosity is at it again as Capper didn't expected to get something for free. He even contemplates, reevaluates his life and questions his planned betrayal... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/6/6b/Capper_starting_to_feel_guilty_MLPTM.png So its not the Queen of the Hippos, but Hippogriffs... that makes way more sense 😅 Great question, Ed! Could they get a cutie mark? It might be similar to what we saw with the griffons, like Gabby. After all, griffons aren't too different from hippogriffs. Or perhaps, since they're part pony (or Horse?) - with those flanks - it could work more like it does for zebras. What do you think? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/f4/Mane_Six_and_Spike_on_rolling_windmill_MLPTM.png - That escape-sequence was really awesome! Really good balance... 😮 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/34/Main_ponies_crossing_the_anchoring_rope_MLPTM.png And now, they find themselves on a boat with a crew of former pirates. Captain Celaeno's crew, made up of avian creatures, features an intriguing design. Captain Celaeno herself is voiced by Zoe Saldana. In earlier drafts, Captain Celaeno was originally named Madame Harpy, and she, along with her crew, were depicted as outright villains who would eventually undergo a Heel-Face Turn, rather than starting off as allies. Additionally, the designers experimented with various concepts for the pirate crew, considering them as dogs, monkeys, and other creatures before finally deciding on parrots/harpies. Tempest Shadow: "When I get my Princess. Until then, your fate is still... up in the air." Grubber: [laughs] "Oh, you're gonna go in the thkiff! Which ith a boat! Thpethifically, a air-boat!" [laughs] Capper: [yowls] Grubber: "We make a great team. I love it how you thaid hith fate wuth 'up in the air', and then I thaid, 'you're gonna be in the air on an air-boat!'" - Tempest's threat was effective, but Grubber's elaboration - along with his accent - didn't add any humor for me at that moment... 🥱 Now it's time for Rainbow Dash's song, "Time to Be Awesome"! I absolutely love that song - it's packed with so much energy, it's amazing! There is even an official Remix to this from Hasbro themselves: DJ Pon-3's 00s Pop Remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbiudPVrb4U And others: EveryDayDashie Dubstep Remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1T8ToCZ5CA mash-up with "We Got This": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap8ER5ytA2Y However, it's clear that Twilight isn't too enthusiastic about all the singing and antics her friends are constantly getting into, especially while she's bearing the responsibility of saving Equestria. They've also been betrayed before, so it's understandable that some frustration is starting to build up... This air-ship is hella awesome! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/5c/Pirates%27_ship_raises_its_rainbow-colored_sails_MLPTM.png And yes... how could Rainbow Dash resist going for a Sonic Rainboom with that setup, even if it was a bit reckless? 😅 - The animation style in that scene was absolutely stunning! 🤩 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/e/e6/Sonic_rainboom_near_rainbow_airship_%28new_version%29_MLPTM.png - And you are right, it had to be in this movie! But dang it! Rainbow... Rainbow Dash: "Ya think she saw my sonic rainboom?" Twilight Sparkle: "Are you kidding me?!" - Yep... she starts to lose her composure... Twilight Sparkle: "I've got this!" https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/27/Mane_Six_and_Spike_fall_out_of_the_sky_MLPTM.png - That was pretty extreme... yet also incredibly clever, teetering right on the edge of disaster. "Oh, for Celestia's sake!!!" - Indeed! Facing mortal danger is no excuse for a narcissistic glance in the mirror... 😅😂 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/4/4a/Rarity_admires_her_reflection_as_she_falls_MLPTM.png And Twilight has had enough of all shenanigans, putting an end even to Rainbow's attempts to fly off on her own... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/84/Rainbow_Dash_wrapped_in_Twilight%27s_aura_MLPTM.png An angry Tempest is a fearsome Tempest - never a good thing for Capper or Celaeno's crew as she tears their airship apart. The Mane 6 have finally reached their destination... but it's a ghost town? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/3c/The_abandoned_ruins_of_Hippogriffia_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/4/4a/Overhead_view_of_the_Hippogriffia_ruins_MLPTM.png - You said it, but it's actually even worse than Griffinstone. ...I know, I know - you shouldn't question Pinkie. But... how!? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c0/Pinkie_pops_up_behind_a_Hippogriff_structure_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/73/Pinkie_Pie_pops_up_in_the_far_background_MLPTM.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/4/46/Pinkie_pops_up_from_behind_another_building_MLPTM.png - The contrast in colors between the Mane 6 and the surroundings makes it even more striking... To drown must be absolutely dreadful... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/2a/Twilight_Sparkle_losing_consciousness_MLPTM.png - The magnitudes of darker scenes in this movie is crazy... SEAPONIES! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/82/Princess_Skystar_excitedly_gets_in_Twilight%27s_face_MLPTM.png Welcome to Seaquestria! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/8c/Panoramic_shot_of_Seaquestria_MLPTM.png Queen Novo, voiced by Uzo Aduba and Princess Skystar, voiced by Kristin Chenoweth https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/86/Queen_Novo_tired_of_seeing_seashells_MLPTM.png It turns out that the Seaponies are actually former Hippogriffs who fled their home to escape the Storm King and transformed... 😮 Princess Skystar: "Oh! Can we show them? Huh? These are the first guests we've had in, like, foreveeerrr! Can we, can we, can we, can we, can we, can we, can we, can we, can we?" - That is quite sad... Transformation Time! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/59/The_Mane_Six_are_turned_into_seaponies_MLPTM.png - New merchandising stuff! 😅 Yes, this time Spike got the short end of the stick... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c7/Spike_turned_into_a_pufferfish_MLPTM.png Twilight Sparkle: "This is amazing! With this, we could transform everypony at home into something powerful enough to face the Storm King's army!" Queen Novo: "Or it could end up in his greedy claws!" - "Honey, I'm sorry about your home. I truly am. But my responsibility is to protect my subjects. The pearl... is not going anywhere." Twilight Sparkle: "But we've come all this way. And you can't just hide down here! Trapped forever!" - Another point of frustration for Twilight, her last hope going up in smoke... She decides to take matters into her own hooves and does something completely unexpected. Twilight Sparkle: "There's so much you're missing!" Queen Novo: "We are one hundred percent okay with that!" - The way Queen Novo said this suggests that it's not her true opinion, but rather a defiant response directed inward, as if convincing herself that this is how it must be. Twilight Sparkle: "Well, we still need to come up with a plan to get back. A few minutes won't make a huge difference. And if there's anypony who can cram a lifetime of fun into a blink of an eye, it's Pinkie Pie!" Pinkie Pie: [squee] Twilight Sparkle: "So, go ahead and show Skystar the best time ever!" Pinkie Pie: "I won't let you down!" Twilight Sparkle: "I'm counting on it." - The main issue with Season 3/4 Twilight is that she often didn't rely on her friends, choosing instead to handle everything on her own—even to a somewhat questionable extent at times. In this instance, although she reassured Pinkie that she was counting on her, she still had other plans in mind that she didn't share with her friends. I believe that Season 7 Twilight would have at least included her friends in this desperate and reckless plan to steal the pearl, and they might have talked her out of it... "One Small Thing" is such a fun, feel-good, jazz-inspired song. I even heard that it was so catchy, people were dancing in their seats at the theater! 😂 These are amazing reinterpretations of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGuSkxbJXT8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YL1iP6i6S4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG779PfCJkg And Pinkie managed to draw everyone into this song and to their side... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/a6/Skystar%2C_ponies%2C_and_seaponies_having_a_party_MLPTM.png - even Queen Novo was rethinking her opinion, but Twilight ruined it in her attempt to steal the pearl... Twilight Sparkle: "I never would have done it, but this isn't Equestria! We can't just dance around with con artists, make rainbooms in the sky and expect everything to work out! It's not enough! We are not enough" - That's a real-life moment right there... and as much as I hate to admit it, in the real world, she'd be right about both points. Normally, you wouldn't do that - but in MLP, I would beg to differ. It's a "magical place" after all... and somehow, everything worked out in the end. Pinkie Pie: "You're also the only one who doesn't trust her friends!" - Sadly, that's absolutely true. If you choose to distrust your friends in a desperate situation, you're destined to lose. The message is clear: no matter how desperate things get, friends can always be a source of support in difficult times. As the argument escalates, Twilight's desperation and Pinkie's disappointment collide in an unexpected fallout: Pinkie Pie: "You're also the only one who doesn't trust her friends!" Twilight Sparkle: "Well, maybe, I would've been better off without friends like YOU!" - Oof... this is undeniably one of the most heartbreaking moments in MLP history. At least Twilight realized she had made a terrible mistake, but the damage is already done. Pinkie needed space, and the rest of the friends chose to follow her, leaving Twilight behind. And yes... it was the perfect setup for Twilight to be captured by Tempest, leading into another song, "Open Up Your Eyes" - one of the best in the Movie. It also gives us a glimpse into Tempest's past: how she lost her horn in an attack by an Ursa Minor and was abandoned by her friends, who feared her unstable magical disability. - It's tragic... Here are some awesome covers/remixes to this: PrinceWhateverer & JycRow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiwINpQRxRs CG5 Remix/Cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52ChDKh2ETM This is no place for young unicorns... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/0/00/Ursa_minor_appears_before_Fizzlepop_Berrytwist_MLPTM.png What did they do to Ponyville!? (That smoky place on the left-bottom side) https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/cd/More_of_Storm_King's_ships_fly_toward_Canterlot_MLPTM.png Twilight Sparkle: "I'm so sorry you felt so alone." Tempest Shadow: "I saw the truth. My "friends" abandoned me when times got tough. Looks like I'm not the only one. Face it, Princess. Friendship has failed you, too." Twilight Sparkle: "Friendship didn't fail me. I failed friendship." - yes you did Twilight... you indeed did... But luckily your friends didn't, and were about to rescue you... Rarity: [angrily] "Well! Look what the cat dragged in! Himself!" 🤣😅 Capper: "These heroes have faced the Storm King's army and escaped! I've seen them tackle the streets of the roughest towns, break out of the tightest situations, and inspire others to join their cause!" Rest of the Mane 6 and Spike: "Ooooh." Applejack: "Now don't get too excited. It's absolutely adorable and perfectly fitting for her vibrant, explosive zap-magic. I loved that outro with all the little details and extra scenes. --- And with that, we've finished "My Little Pony: The Movie". As I previously said it took them 3-4 years to create this movie, spanning 3-4 seasons full of changes. It was a bit disappointing to miss all the progress made in the current seasons, but hey - sometimes you can't have it all... 😅 == Twilight and the Mane 6 == The movie offered an intense portrayal of Twilight Sparkle facing perhaps her most challenging role as Equestria's last princess, with the kingdom occupied by the Storm King's army. The immense pressure she faced was palpable, driving her to some decisions that, while not characteristic of her usual Season 7 self, felt understandable given the weight of her situation. Her choice to yell at her friends and attempt to steal the pearl from Queen Novo might seem uncharacteristic, but it's justified by two key factors: Twilight was under severe stress, feeling an overwhelming responsibility to protect Equestria and desperate to find any viable help nearby. Unfortunately, her best lead, the Hippogriffs (Celestia's recommended allies) were unwilling to assist and preferred hiding. This combination of rejection, isolation, and her sense of duty led to some harsher, more self-centered reactions, reminiscent of her earlier, pre-Season 7 self. Adding to her strain, the unfamiliarity of the environment only compounded her challenges. Outside of Equestria, they lacked the support, customs, and stability they were used to, and her friends actions - while perhaps well-intentioned - often complicated matters. For instance, they quickly trusted the stranger Capper a swindler, despite his initial attempt to sell them out. Rainbow Dash's Sonic Rainboom, though impressive, was also reckless, drawing attention to their location. Twilight's frustration with her friends was justified here as she faced an almost impossible balance of protecting them and finding allies while her friends actions inadvertently made things harder. With Queen Novo's outright refusal, Twilight felt driven to the edge and took matters into her own hooves by stealing the transformation pearl herself - a desperate choice that reflected her history of drastic measures under pressure, like in "Lesson Zero". Sadly to the point of lying to her friends to create a diversion so she could attempt the theft. Her desperation betrayed the trust her friends, especially Pinkie, had in her, making her actions feel heartbreaking rather than simply wrong. When her friends discovered this betrayal, their reaction was understandable. Twilight's choice to deceive them was certainly not the best or most justified action, but in a way, it felt relatable. It's likely that under less strain, the Twilight of Season 7 would have confided in her friends rather than going behind their backs, and they might have been able to prevent her from taking such drastic steps. Pinkie Pie's role as the ever-cheerful pony who lives to bring joy was notably consistent, even in this film. She almost convinced Queen Novo to assist them - a small success, but a success nonetheless. Yet, seeing her trust in Twilight so utterly broken led to a painful confrontation, an unexpected and moving rift, between her and Twilight. Watching Pinkie of all characters, getting used by Twilight for her own gain and thus experiencing betrayal from one of her closest friends added a deep layer of heartbreak to the movie. While Twilight undeniably bore the main responsibility for the fallout and recognized that by apologizing herself, her friends weren't entirely without fault, as they each played a part in complicating their journey. The movie handled this well by showing them owning up to their own mistakes and also wanting to make amends, which added a satisfying sense of growth and accountability for both sides. That said, their actions led to some unexpected new friendships. Rarity's generosity, for instance, had a redemptive effect on Capper, inspiring him to reconsider his selfish motives and ultimately mislead Tempest about their location. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash's encouragement of Celaeno's pirate spirit was thrilling to watch, even if her Sonic Rainboom was poorly timed and brought Tempest straight to them - it was still a visually stunning moment. And in the end, the pirate crew came through to help them. Applejack and Fluttershy's roles were overshadowed by the actions of the others and the abundance of additional characters - It was a shame they didn't have a real moment to shine and It felt like a missed opportunity, as they deserved moments to shine as well. However, I loved the dynamic between them all overall - it was wonderful to watch. == Tempest Shadow (Fizzlebop Berrytwist) == Tempest Shadow is, without a doubt, one of the most intense and fiercely captivating characters the show has ever introduced. Her design alone sets her apart - bold, dark, and radiating a commanding presence that immediately tells you she's not an ordinary pony. Her stern, no-nonsense personality is a breath of fresh air in a series typically filled with lighter, more cheerful characters. This contrast made her instantly stand out, and I found myself completely drawn to her. As a villain, Tempest brought a level of genuine threat that felt palpably real, unlike many of the other antagonists the show has introduced. I absolutely loved how her character conveyed a sense of true menace and determination. Honestly, she should have been the primary antagonist rather than the Storm King. He had minimal screen time and a lack of depth that paled in comparison to Tempest's rich backstory and complex motivations. Many fans felt Tempest Shadow deserved to take center stage as the main villain - and I couldn't agree more. Her history, combined with her fierce attitude, would have added a fantastic dynamic and depth to the storyline. Her unique style and formidable combat skills are unlike anything we typically see from ponies in the series. The fact that she's skilled in martial arts, evident in her movements during the raid on Canterlot and in Klugetown, only solidifies her as a true powerhouse. She's the kind of character who excels in close combat and has the ability to penetrate magical defenses, while also being adept in explosive offensive magic. This combination adds yet another layer to her "bad-ass" nature, which I absolutely adore. Tempest's backstory, too, is both tragic and relatable. She lost her horn to an Ursa Minor, rendering her magic erratic and dangerous - a constant reminder of her limitations and the source of her deep-seated insecurities. Tempest's broken horn visually represents her inner pain and feelings of exclusion from pony society. This loss defines much of her character and drives her pursuit of power and security under the Storm King. Her horn becomes a symbol of the scars we carry and how they can shape our choices - for better or worse. And her quest for restoration through the Storm King made perfect sense as she believed he could repair her horn with the staff meant to contain alicorn magic. And while the outcome of her betrayal may have been predictable, there's a raw, humanly irrational side to her clinging to that slim hope that perhaps... just perhaps, she might regain what she'd lost. In the end, Tempest's redemption arc is touching. She comes to realize where her true loyalties lie, accepting Twilight's offer of trust and friendship after she sacrificed herself to rescue them. However, it's bittersweet because, after this compelling journey, we never see her again in the series. Her absence from the main storyline leaves a void, making me wish we'd had the chance to explore more of her character in the show itself. == Storm King == I agree with your perspective on The Storm King, especially in terms of his role as a catalyst for Tempest's transformation rather than a developed villain in his own right. He comes across as little more than a plot device, a means to prompt Tempest's turnaround, rather than a character with a compelling motive or depth. His demeanor is an issue for me as well - his attitude fails to capture any real sense of menace. He was intended to embody insanity, but the way he was ultimately portrayed left him feeling like an ineffectual, unfunny caricature. Instead of exuding the vibe of an intimidating villain, he seemed more like an awkward comic relief character who didn't even manage to fulfill that role effectively. It wasn't needed in this movie that already had two other comic-relief characters who pulled it off much better. It felt redundant. His character lacked the presence of a true antagonist, and it didn't sit well with me. His lighthearted, almost goofy behavior doesn't align with the image of a formidable conqueror. It makes me question how he managed to command any real authority, let alone achieve such a high position of power and command his army? A more balanced approach, scaling back on his "fun" side and leaning into his darker qualities, might have served his character better. Instead, he came across as much too jovial and carefree for a character meant to strike fear into others. Originally however, his concept was something else: A sinister, three-eyed, quadrupedal creature that blended elements of a dragon and a wolf and had an intrinsic connection to storms - Kind of a storm elemental of sorts - he could have been terrifying and unique. There was great potential! - But I understand how that darker portrayal was deemed too intense for the intended audience and thus scrapped in the end. The betrayal of Tempest at the end was predictable but fitting. I think it was clear from the beginning that he had no intention or perhaps no ability to restore her horn, despite his promises. He was merely manipulating her, using her desperation and loyalty to further his agenda. The one moment where he did reveal a genuine "dark side" was, ironically, in his own downfall. Watching him turn to stone, a result of his own petrification orb, and shatter upon impact to the ground, gave a grim, perhaps unprecedented moment in the show's history - it felt like the first explicit, undeniable instance of a character meeting his end. - However, that conclusion felt appropriate, as he ultimately faced the consequences of his own hubris... And then there are the Storm Creatures: with their intimidating and powerful presence, they embody the brute force behind the Storm King's campaigns. Their design has a darker, menacing tone that I found reminiscent of the Star Wars clone troopers, in that they serve loyally without much individuality, functioning as the Storm King's army. == Capper == Capper, the anthropomorphic cat from Klugetown, instantly adds a layer of intrigue when he meets the Mane 6. Initially, his intentions are far from noble - driven by his debts, he deceives them with plans to sell them off, presenting himself as a smooth-talking, self-interested con artist. However, his journey takes a compelling turn when he experiences Rarity's unexpected kindness. This simple yet powerful act sparks a change in Capper, setting him on a path from self-serving trickster to a genuine friend and ally. And as the story unfolds, Capper not only helps the Mane 6 escape from the perils of Klugetown but also becomes instrumental in their resistance against the Storm King. His witty dialogue and natural charm make him a delight to watch, and his transformation feels both genuine and rewarding. I found Capper's character great as he grows from a selfish character to a trustworthy companion. == Captain Celaeno and her pirate crew == Captain Celaeno and her pirate crew were a fantastic addition to the movie. Their dynamic presence, as a band of anthropomorphic bird pirates, brought a refreshing twist to the storyline. Initially introduced as bold adventurers turned reluctant servants under the Storm King's oppressive rule, they resonated as characters with a past and purpose. I particularly enjoyed the crew's rebellious yet fun-loving spirit - it was both endearing and inspiring to see them reclaim their freedom and embrace their adventurous ways once more. Their alliance with the Mane 6 added an extra layer of excitement and camaraderie, showcasing their willingness to stand up to the Storm King in support of what was right. Moreover, their scenes injected a lighthearted, adventurous tone that offered a nice balance to some of the movie's darker, more intense moments. The pirate crew, led by Captain Celaeno, was a neat addition. The crew, composed of anthropomorphic bird pirates, are introduced as former swashbuckling adventurers who have been forced into servitude by the Storm King. I liked their fun and rebellious personalities and how they stood up against the Storm King and live "awesome" lives again and were willing to support the Mane 6. The crew also provided us with a lighthearted, adventurous break from the darker moments in the movie. == Queen Novo and Princess Skystar == Queen Novo is portrayed as a deeply protective and cautious ruler, prioritizing the safety of her people above all else. Having narrowly escaped the Storm King's invasion, she is initially unwilling to assist Twilight and her friends in their quest, fearing the potential repercussions for her kingdom. Novo's stern approach, as seen when she sternly rejects Twilight's plea and even goes as far as to throw her and her friends out after Twilight tries to steal the pearl, underscores her no-nonsense attitude and dedication to her role as a protector. It's clear that her primary focus is on avoiding further danger for her people, even if it means distancing herself from external conflicts. A fascinating aspect of Queen Novo's character is her decision to retreat underwater instead of confronting the Storm King head-on, despite possessing a powerful pearl capable of transformative abilities. As Twilight pointed out, this pearl could have potentially changed the tide of the war. However, Novo's reasoning is logical and cautious - she fears that if they failed, the pearl could fall into the wrong hands, intensifying the threat. Her choice to avoid direct conflict, thus, is not due to cowardice but a calculated risk to keep a powerful artifact out of the Storm King's grasp. In contrast, Princess Skystar, Queen Novo's daughter, brings a refreshing optimism and energy to the story. Unlike her mother's reserved and cautious nature, Skystar is bubbly, curious, and evidently lonely due to her people's isolation. She eagerly bonds with the Mane 6, embracing the chance to make friends, and her interactions with Pinkie Pie are simply delightful, adding a magical touch to her character. Skystar's enthusiasm and openness contrast with her mother's protective instincts, illuminating the personality divide between them. Skystar even tries to help the Mane 6, because she understood Pinkie's message in her song that any support, however small, could make a difference. Interestingly, Skystar's character was initially meant to have two sisters, Haven Bay and Selina Blue, who were ultimately cut from the storyline. This creative decision was to emphasize Skystar's feelings of loneliness and desire for companionship, giving her a more poignant, friendless background that explains why she is so eager to open up to the Mane 6. Her royal status appears to keep her at a distance from others, making her newfound friendship with the Mane 6 even more precious and heartfelt. == Worldbuilding == The expansion of the world in this movie really stood out to me, adding unexpected depth and complexity to the usual setting of Equestria. The story took us to places far from the peace and brightness of the familiar pony lands. And for the first time, we encountered genuinely unfriendly territories. Klugetown, in particular, was captivating. This grimy desert city in the Badlands offered a stark contrast to the friendship-filled world we're used to seeing in MLP. The rundown, almost lawless vibe of Klugetown made it feel like a place entirely removed from the moral principles that guide the ponies. It's a place teeming with shady characters, each driven by self-interest, and a far cry from the cooperative and compassionate world of Equestria. The portrayal of Klugetown wasn't just visually intense - no, it was emotionally dark too, especially for a series known for its bright and optimistic tone. The opportunistic residents are engaged in troubling practices, like slave trading, which was startling to see in this show. The chaotic, morally ambiguous atmosphere of the marketplace, where everyone seems to be looking out for themselves, presented a genuinely dangerous setting for the Mane 6. This departure from the usual setting of Equestria really emphasized how sheltered and unique the ponies' world might be compared to the rest of this universe. The residents of Klugetown were an eclectic mix of bipedal cats, fish, pigs, porcupines mole-rats etc. - each one adding to the chaotic, otherworldly feel of the town. At first, their presence felt jarring, but this variety was clearly intended to contrast with the familiarity of Equestria. It made the Mane 6's journey into these foreign lands feel as disorienting and unfamiliar for us as viewers as it was for them. One of the most intriguing elements is knowing about the original, even darker concept for Klugetown. The artists had originally envisioned the city built around the skeleton of a massive dragon impaled on a jagged mountain, with its crystal heart being mined by the residents. The image of a once-mighty creature reduced to a spectacle and a resource is haunting, and I think it would have added disturbing implications for the Crystal Empire itself. It's fascinating, though unsettling, to imagine how much darker this universe could have been if this concept had made it into the final cut - this is a concept picture of it btw: https://64.media.tumblr.com/b5c452ee300b98e5237b5efd3895d140/tumblr_ovb2flQsFS1vtwln5o1_1280.jpg Mount Aris also introduced a captivating new setting. As the original homeland of the Hippogriffs, a proud race blending eagle and pony traits, Mount Aris once thrived with vibrant life. However, the Storm King's invasion forced the Hippogriffs into a desperate choice: face enslavement or abandon their cherished home. The movie conveys the sorrow of this decision as the Hippogriffs escape to the sea beneath Mount Aris, transforming into seaponies through the power of a magical pearl. This refuge, Seaquestria, is an enchanting underwater realm where the Hippogriffs can finally live in peace, shielded from the Storm King's grasp. Queen Novo guards the Pearl of Transformation, a unique artifact enabling the Hippogriffs to alternate between their original forms and seaponies, a feature that adds depth to their dual identity. This transformation underscores their resilience, showing the high cost of survival under oppressive circumstances. Seaquestria, with its ethereal beauty, contrasts poignantly with Mount Aris, emphasizing both the Hippogriffs' loss and their newfound sense of safety. The portrayal of the world beyond Equestria in this movie brings a sense of immense scale and variety, suggesting a universe far richer and more layered than we've seen before. Klugetown, specifically, is depicted as a lively, cosmopolitan hub where creatures from all corners of this world converge, hinting at countless narratives and adventures waiting to be explored outside Equestria's familiar borders. Watching these unique species and locales come together in My Little Pony adds a refreshing depth to the series. It's as though we're seeing, for the first time, how diverse the world truly is - full of distinct cultures, experiences, and stories beyond Equestria. This expansion not only makes the movie captivating but is also brimming with potential for future tales. Sadly much of these promises has, in fact, only been realized in the comics, which have taken up the challenge of exploring these new paths and delving into the complexities hinted at here. The world has expanded significantly since it was last shown. If you're interested, here is the current political map: https://i.redd.it/60b954ou4g771.jpg And this is a map without any politics: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/27/MLP_The_Movie_background_art_-_Expanded_map_of_Equestria.jpg == The Climax == Originally, the movie's climax was planned to feature a classic "Big Damn Heroes" moment with many more hippogriffs joining the fray. This would have added to the spectacle, but instead, the decision to focus on the Mane 6 gave them a more central, direct role in the outcome, making the moment feel more personal and impactful. Another concept considered was to give the Mane 6 Super Modes, much like their battle against Tirek, for their final showdown with the Storm King. However, the creative team wisely chose to reserve that idea for later in the series. Personally, I'm grateful for this decision; relying too often on a Super Mode or "Deus Ex Machina" plot device can make the stakes feel less grounded. Here, it felt refreshing that the Mane 6 could succeed through their own efforts, without needing a last-minute power-up. Which is why the confrontation between Twilight, her old and new friends, Tempest, and the Storm King was thrilling to watch. The fight was packed with dynamic moments, striking visuals, and an energy that truly captured the high stakes of the story. One of my favorite parts was the reconciliation moment between the Mane 6, which felt like a heartfelt and earned conclusion to their journey altogether. This thoughtful approach to storytelling made the movie's climax feel both earned and memorable, capturing the essence of the Mane 6's bond and resilience without leaning on easy shortcuts. == The Message of friendship== Twilight begins by doubting whether the approaches that worked in Equestria will succeed beyond its borders, but eventually, she realizes that friendship isn't just limited to her homeland - it exists everywhere. The movie highlights a powerful message: in desperate situations, if you choose to mistrust your friends, you're likely to face defeat. However, no matter how dire things become, friends can provide crucial support during challenging times. In the end, Twilight understands that she doesn't have to face her challenges alone, as also her newfound friends come to her aid, reinforcing the idea that true friendship knows no boundaries. == The Artstyle and Animation == The movie features a more polished and detailed animation style compared to the TV series. It was fantastic overall, though there were moments where it felt a bit off, especially during close-ups. The characters' large eyes sometimes, as you said, threw me off - likely because we're so accustomed to the show's traditional animation style. Adjusting to this newer visual approach may just take time, as you mentioned. Despite that, I loved the mix of 2D and 3D animation styles they blended seamlessly and felt well-executed, especially in the magical effects, which were truly stunning. The darker tone in some scenes and the use of varied color palettes across different settings added depth and atmosphere, enhancing the overall mood. The range of character expressions was also impressive, conveying a lot of emotion and personality, which added to the movie's impact. == Music == The music in this movie was truly exceptional - not only the songs themselves but the entire score. The music throughout felt incredibly well-crafted, carrying the quality and richness often associated with Disney productions, creating a captivating, cinematic experience. The songs were all impressively produced and the visuals that accompanied them elevated the experience even further. A standout moment for many was Tempest Shadow's powerful song, "Open Up Your Eyes". This song resonated deeply, bringing a level of intensity and vulnerability that marked a high point in the movie. Another highlight was Songbird Serenade's performance, voiced by Sia, who also performed the main song for the movie, "Rainbow". The overall production quality of each piece was impressive, creating an immersive, evocative experience. == Conclusion == While the reception of this movie has been mixed, I personally found it to be genuinely enjoyable and well-crafted, even with a few predictable elements and the somewhat questionable antagonist, the Storm King. Tempest Shadow's character, however, truly redeemed any shortcomings the Storm King might have presented. Her role added depth and gravity to the story that pulled it out of any negative territory for me. The movie was both entertaining and uplifting, capturing that whimsical spirit that makes My Little Pony special. It would have been nice to see Starlight Glimmer make an appearance, though I understand why that wasn't possible. And while the non-menacing Storm King wasn't my favorite part of the movie - Tempest's complexity more than made up for it. One thing I particularly appreciated was the darker, more unsettling undertones woven into the narrative. Such moments are rare in MLP, making them a compelling addition to the film's atmosphere. There was even a subtle Disney-like quality to the movie, which I found intriguing, though I can imagine it might not appeal to everyone. I loved all the smaller details, like how Derpy took a selfless leap to shield Twilight, which indirectly saved Equestria by giving Twilight a chance to escape. These moments added so much heart to the film and reinforced why I found it so enjoyable, even with its imperfections. As always, the humor (except from Grubber in some cases) was spot-on, and the music was simply phenomenal, bringing an added layer of excitement and emotion. The film also excelled in world-building, introducing new, vibrant locations and characters that expanded Equestria's universe in fascinating ways. The hippogriffs, for example, came with a compelling backstory that I really enjoyed. Tempest Shadow was, in my opinion, one of the best additions to the MLP cast - a character who was both unexpected and impressively complex, adding a level of sophistication to the storyline. In the end, this movie's unique blend of whimsical charm, emotional depth, and thoughtful character additions like Tempest Shadow made it a memorable and fulfilling experience. == Your questions == As you are in Season 8 you have seen it's kind of cannon. Unfortunately, they couldn't introduce these new characters into the show due to the voice actors. It would have been too expensive, and their schedules didn't always align with the production needs. If you'd like to see more of her, I recommend checking out the comics. It felt fan-made and unfamiliar because the storytelling and animation style were entirely different, aimed at a broader audience rather than just the fans, much like a Disney movie. It also seemed like an attempt to attract new viewers, especially kids who had no prior connection to the show. It was definitely a missed opportunity that Starlight wasn't included, but given the circumstances around the early script development, it makes sense. And that wasn't the only missed chance: just imagine if any of Equestria's allies, like the Changelings, Griffins, or Dragons, had gotten involved. The Storm King's conquest would have ended much sooner - before he even had the chance to threaten Equestria. You're absolutely right about the princesses: they do often come across as weaker than they should be. - But, to be fair, in this movie it was kind of an unexpected situation. The Storm King's army had magic-repellent shields and magic-piercing tactics designed to catch them off guard and squash any resistance. - Also, in my headcanon, it's all just a test for Twilight... 😅🤫🤭 Hey, it might have sounded like you disliked the movie with all that ranting - but it's the same for me... Despite its flaws I still love it. --- I can't express enough how much I appreciate your reaction to this movie. I know I might sound repetitive, but I genuinely mean it every single time. i am again sorry for that 😣😅 originally i intended to provide him an original link and an additional one with said changes for reference - I think i mixed that up P.S.: wth patreon, i wasn't notified there was an answer to my comment here 😑

DeViruZz.eXe

Yeah the more I think back, i definitely had more negative to say about it 😂😂. But still some nice elements with tempest, species, and world building, and the music. The twilight thing felt so off. Probably like S3 or S4 twilight. But at this point it’s very out of character. But still a fun time!

Oooo so outdated script. Dang. That explains a lot. I definitely get the desire to keep the intro. I was linked the original and it just lacks life, if that makes sense. Yeah definitely should have kept it as it was for sure. Even then when I watched it I thought it was how it was so I probably would’ve been a bit more disappointed if it wasn’t edited 😅

All good. It was a error from dev but it’s okay. I still enjoyed it and probably preferred it but I also get the purist and release as it was mindset. Don’t think there will be another situation like but we’ll make sure it’s unedited!

There’s a lot issues I have with this movie, the eyes threw me off as well wishing the art was a little different, I didn’t like capper either also the fish people didn’t really fit in either, not sure how up I feel about these new types of villains they have outside equestria seems more Disney than mlp, I wish starlight was in it, I hated the storm king as well he didn’t do much and was hardly in it also not a fan of a villain that’s constantly making jokes, but the positives for me are the animation is great, the music is phenomenal, I loved lots the friendship moments, more world building, also derpy was the one who jumped in front of twilight so basically derpy saved the day lol, I liked the pirates, sea ponies! Princess sky star is adorable her friendship with pinkie is magical, hippogriffs have a cool story, I love tempest she’s super cool pretty good backstory too, also your right twilight would never steal like that or at least she’d ask her friends first if she did, the way she yelled at pinkie with her horn lit was very out of character especially into season 8 she’s learned so much so it feels off, but pretty good movie it’s a fun experience, I’ve watched many reactions most like it sims have mixed reviews it’s spilt

A lot of the issues with this movie can be explained by the fact that the script was written several years before it was released and it sat in development for quite a while. So it unfortunately ignored a lot of things that happened in the show between when it was written versus when it was released. Starlight is only the most glaring example. As far as the fan edit, don't worry too much about the differences. It basically was just the intro. At some point it was leaked that the intro was changed at a late date, and the original intro was also leaked. The fandom was enraged by this because the original intro was much better than what we got. So someone edited the original intro back in and that's what you saw here. It really IS much better, but I still maintain you should have watched it as released and made up your own mind about what's better.

You're saying it was unintentional? There goes the rest of my rant lol. Ah well, at least it's nothing as bad as a spoiler or anything.

ah shit... i think i jumbled that link... i gave him the intro-edit, not the original bit... 😫

I just started watching it, but if I were you I would have pushed back on who had you watch a fan edit. This is unethical. It's not for us to decide for you what would have made it better. This is not the film that was released.
