Ooooooo. Starlight gets you feeling things? 👀🫣
But I agree that it seems like she’s shoehorned into and not having fun or being used. Might have been nice to see cozy and starlight have a convo. Maybe something she said pushed her or made her do something even more with her plan.
I agree with twilight. A bit harsh and unfair.
Oooo I didn’t see that! That makes sense. I think when we look back at this EP. I might appreciate it a bit more with your insight for sure. I still was suspicious but wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and not jump to it. But it was a great way to bring her into the fold! I think my first first impression I wasn’t as suspicious but I think her voice was off putting which made me suspicious 😂. So not a real plot reason but body language.

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: -
YAY CMC episode! And they want to go to the school of Friendship!
Starlight Glimmer: "Hi, Twilight! Looks like you could use a guidance counselor's help! Hint, hint."
Twilight Sparkle: "No, thanks, Starlight. I've got this."
Starlight Glimmer: [sadly] "Great. Well, I'll just... go dust my office for the seventieth time."
- Starlight seems not to be needed much as guidance counsellor...
Students: "O dragon! My dragon!" 🤣
- This is a reference to the film "Dead Poets Society" which references a poem "O Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman
AJ knows her sister well enough to know what's up to not fall for her trick...

- Headshot! If this would have been a voodoo-doll, somepony would have died right here...
Rarity: "I'm going to call you 'Repeatie Belle'! We've been through this! Please let me concentrate!" 🤣
Why do these noses even exist???

- on further thought... it could be a souvenir from the human world 😆
That whole fake-argumenting act... was way too hilarious
And here we have Cozy Glow... a very interesting fellow...
You are right about the photos, are they really just giving them out to strangers?
Well, I think these depicted ponies are volunteers for this particular homework (or in general), because there has to be someone to report back if it was successful or not.
Big Mac and Sugarbelle 🥰 - such a sweet pair.
"Is she a chessplayer?" - in a broader sense... and as you now know, yes!
Twilight Sparkle: [reading] "What are the six Elements of Harmony?" "Five turtlenecks and a cheese grater?" "Who is the Princess of Friendship?" "Your mom?" - wth... 🤣
Starlight Glimmer: [laughs nervously] "Welcome! Can I get you a comfort pillow? Security blanket? Empathy cocoa?"
NGL... the way Starlight said "Empathy cocoa" with that look and pose, was way too hot for me... I liked that more than I should 😅

Starlight Glimmer: "Oh! Well, I have plenty of that! Anecdotes, insight, midnight confessions... I'm babbling. [clears throat] Go ahead. I'm listening."
- I wonder if "midnight confessions" is a reference to the song with the same name by Grass Roots and thus indirectly a hint to the passionate topic of the song-text... 😏
Cozy Glow: "I think I got my friends in trouble. They helped me study for my friendship test, and I failed it... on purpose."
Starlight Glimmer: "Why would you do that? Uh, sorry. Listening." [sips cocoa]
Cozy Glow: "Well, the Cutie Mark Crusaders wanted to go to this school more than anything. So I thought if I showed Headmare Twilight they're bad at friendship, she'd let them come here with me."
Starlight Glimmer: "That's devious. I-I mean, I see." [sips cocoa]
- Devious indeed... That face though..! 🤣😆

Starlight Glimmer: "Sure, that was a really, really bad way to try to help your friends, but what matters is you wanted to." - heh... true and oof 🙃
Starlight Glimmer: "The reason the Cutie Mark Crusaders don't go to this school is because they'd make better teachers than students."
- yes!
"I like her voice" - aha... 👀
And the CMC are tutors at the school!
---
In this episode, Twilight Sparkle wrongfully accuses the CMC of misleading Cozy Glow, which leads to their punishment. Though she later attempts to make amends by awarding them honorary diplomas and appointing them as friendship tutors, I felt that her actions lacked an explicit apology. Fans, too, were disappointed with Twilight's behavior, noting it felt out of character for her to judge the CMC so hastily. Given her history with them, it seemed uncharacteristic that she'd be suspicious without hearing their side, especially considering her growth as a leader. That said, it's not entirely unwarranted since the CMC have occasionally crossed lines with good intentions, including prior attempts to sneak into the school through deceptive means. However, Twilight's leadership would have benefitted from a deeper investigation rather than jumping to conclusions.
Cozy Glow's appearance in this episode stirred debate, particularly around her suspicious motives. Some fans speculated she might be working with Chancellor Neighsay or have darker intentions, given her odd actions, like intentionally failing a test to join the CMC. The choice of a rook for her cutie mark already hinted at a possible manipulation theme, symbolizing power and control. This impression only deepened when she misconstrued friendship elements as "Intelligence" and "Control" while working with the CMC, a subtle but clever nod to her underlying intentions. And after watching the season finale, her calculated approach here makes it all the more unsettling in hindsight.
Starlight Glimmer was again a standout character in this episode, but it's a shame her role as guidance counselor seems to be useless at this school, particularly given her expertise in complex personalities. However, Cozy Glow would have been a perfect candidate for Starlight's guidance, yet she somehow ends up with the CMC instead. Given Cozy's calculated approach, I can't help but think this was part of her plan to get closer to Twilight, the headmare.
The episode concludes with the CMC appointed as friendship tutors, a role that generally resonated well with fans. Their newfound maturity, especially in Apple Bloom's thoughtful approach, contrasted nicely with their more impulsive, younger selves, adding depth to their character development. Their tutoring roles fit well, allowing them to help others with friendship challenges - a thematic progression true to the CMC.
I also enjoyed the episode's visual elements, like Spike's new wings and the cutie mark flashcards, which enhanced the setting. Spike brought some lighthearted humor, especially with his "O dragon! My dragon!" moment, which offered a nice balance to the episode's heavier themes, complemented by Starlight's witty interactions and meme-able expressions. 🤣
All in all, this episode stands as an interesting addition to Season 8, blending humor, layered character development, and subtle foreshadowing of Cozy Glow's future role. You were right to note that the pacing felt a bit slow, but I think this was necessary due to the underlying intentions that weren't immediately obvious. The episode's slower build allowed for hints and details about Cozy's true nature to unfold subtly, adding depth that only became fully appreciated later in the season. I found this balance of pacing and foreshadowing of this episode very interesting, despite its minor flaws.

Now that you have seen the finale, what do you think of Cozy in this episode in hindsight? Was she suspicious to you even in the slightest way? - Anyway, Thank yo for reacting to this 💙😁

I enjoy this episode, although idk if twilight would assume the cmc really taught her the wrongs things out of spite, twilight knows them enough to know better, I also like cozy glows voice. lol and starlight was brilliant in this one as always I feel bad for her not having anything to do as counselor of the school.
