Very well put! A biiiig reality check and reality shattering event for steven. Seems he gets these every season 😭. But wow did this season really give so much insight to rose. Gemkind. I like that.
Ooooh awesome! Sucks I didn’t get that but that sounds cathartic and brilliant. The song is on YouTube right?
Yes yes S4! It seems the show keeps growing and after S3 it seems it can go to many places. Curious how they handle everything. Very excited!

This episode was really important for Steven because this is the second time he’s had to resort to poofing a gem, despite desperately wanting to help, kind of like how you mentioned! That, along with discovering Rose had shattered not only a gem, but a Diamond, was a big wake up call for him. He’s starting to see more dimensions to the gem war, how it still affects gemkind as a whole, and how he ties into it as Rose’s son/sort of reincarnate. It’s about to get reaaally juicy.
What I liked a lot about this episode specifically was the way they used no background music during the episode - just SFX and dialogue - until Steven is found, and the ED, Love Like You, is played in-episode for the first time. That song has so much meaning for me personally, and Rebecca Sugar being the singer of it makes it feel extra special to the show.
(Fun fact: when writing and recording the ending song, Rebecca actually wrote it in chunks as it progressed for the seasons throughout the show, so the lyrics and melody developed over the course of the whole show. Rebecca said the lyrics in each section are very personal to how she was feeling in those times, specifically regarding working on the show. The song lyrics themselves serve as a message that she said communicates in general how all of the characters in the show feel about themselves in relation to the others around them, which I think is really special and displays the core feeling of the show really well. I just thought that was an interesting tidbit lol I just love that song sm)
I’m very excited for S4 to start- it’s probably my favorite, tied with S5. There are of course the couple of less engaging eps in the season, but it also includes many of my personal very favorite episodes, as well as one of my favorite arcs in general :) all the episodes in general are written pretty strong, even if not lore-heavy or even related at times. This is when the show really starts to get a foothold and begin dishing out the overall story they’re wanting to tell. Get ready for a lot of lore, and a lot of very silly hijinks.
