Ah nice, these are the only animated shorts of MLP:
"Mystery Voice"
Rarity's class is repeatedly interrupted by mysterious announcements over the PA system, leading her and her friends on a quest to uncover the culprit. The short combines elements of mystery and humor, with a satisfying reveal. Some fans felt the plot was too predictable, but the character interactions were great. I found the blend of suspense and comedy engaging, especially the clever use of misdirection throughout the story. - And who knew, that AJ would pull off something like that and was even great at that? - Well considering it is Ashleigh Ball as her VA, her vocal range it wasn't that surprising. - I loved that! 😁
"The Great Escape Room"
Pinkie Pie constructs an elaborate escape room for her friends, filled with nonsensical puzzles and challenges. The short highlights the group's camaraderie and problem-solving skills, even if the solutions are as zany as Pinkie herself. While some found the randomness a bit over the top, I appreciated the creativity and teamwork displayed. I particularly enjoyed the imaginative puzzles and the way they mirrored Pinkie's quirky personality, even though they were nonsensical and kind of pointless. 😅
"Triple Pony Dare Ya"
In this short, Applejack and Rainbow Dash engage in a series of escalating dares, each more absurd than the last. The playful rivalry showcases their competitive spirit, they have since season one, culminating in Pinkie Pie's unexpected victory. I enjoyed the humor and character dynamics, though the dares felt slightly bordered on the ridiculous side. Personally, I appreciated the clever twist of Pinkie Pie outsmarting her friends by daring them not to dare, adding a delightful surprise to the narrative. 😏
"Rarity's Biggest Fan"
Rarity becomes enamored with the flowing manes of Princesses Celestia and Luna and endeavors to replicate their ethereal hairstyles. Her attempts range from magical spells to sticking her head out of a moving train, all to no avail. Eventually, she discovers that having Spike fly in front of her creates the desired effect, thanks to the wind from his wings. Fans found humor in Rarity's vanity and determination, though some noted the predictability of the solution. I particularly enjoyed the comedic portrayal of Rarity's persistence and the lighthearted take on her quest for perfection. - And let's be real... we all wonder why the princesses manes always weave around... 😅
"Ail-icorn"
Poor Twilight Sparkle catches a cold, resulting in uncontrollable magic surges that cause chaos in Ponyville and to her friends. The short is a comedic take on the challenges of being an alicorn with a common ailment. I enjoyed the humor and the depiction of Twilight's vulnerability, though there was place for a more substantial plot around it... But I appreciated the lighthearted approach to showing that even powerful ponies have off days, making Twilight more relatable. Also the magic surges had absolutely hilarious results to her friends... 🤣 - And Zecoras tonic having the side-effect of Twilight turning into a adorable baby was very surprising a funny... 🤣 - Best quote: "Even I don't speak sound-effects!" 😆
"Teacher of the Month"
Fluttershy rightfully consistently wins the "Teacher of the Month" award, prompting her friends to investigate her secret. The short highlights Fluttershy's kindness and unique teaching methods. However Rainbow and AJ couldn't stand it and asked for her secret, to try it out themselves to set up a party for the students. - The twist was funny how ultimately it was still Fluttershy's idea and she still got rewarded for that! I also admired the focus on Fluttershy's character development as a teacher. It was enjoyable to see Fluttershy's gentle and unforced approach to being recognized and celebrated for it. 🥰
"Starlight the Hypnotist"
Who knew that Twilight is afraid of Ladybugs? This has a lot of implications about her Ladybug Dance ("Sunshine, Sunshine") with Cadence... That's why Starlight Glimmer uses hypnosis to help her and get's interrupted by Pinkie Pie, leading to unintended and humorous consequences... as Twilight is now trying to send Ladybugs into the stratosphere 🤣 - well at least in form of a kite... This was very entertaining and hilarious!
"Sundae, Sundae, Sundae"
Pinkie enthusiastically describes the museum's ice cream-themed exhibits to the crowd on a sweltering day, but her lengthy introduction causes all the ice cream to melt before the doors open. The humor and Pinkie's exuberance was hilarious, though the joke was very much stretched thin. I enjoyed the lighthearted portrayal of Pinkie's enthusiasm and the reminder that even when things don't go as planned, a positive attitude can turn situations around. - And yes I also love ice-cream soup 😅
Overall, these shorts provide us with charming snapshot of the ponies' lives, blending humor, heart, and a touch of absurdity that fans like me have come to love.
Sadly, these were the only shorts made for MLP G4...
