My Little Pony Equestria Girls Spring Breakdown REACTION + Discussion

I will never stop slobbering over sunset! Yes… that moment was…… incredible. EQG always manages to make noises I didn’t know I was capable of. I love it 😭 The pacing definitely was slow but as we have said countless times, sooooooooo worth it!!! Anything involving sunset being in pony form will make me ecstatic. But the sudden reveal was incredible and then getting to know the pony world was amazing. THEN we also get a nice storm king reference which I think was a the perfect way to incorporate him after some underwhelming first impressions. This and sunset backstage were great final send offs. I would love if the EQG or maybe sunset makes their way into the pony Equestria! 🤔

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: - Titanic-reference? Was that foreshadowing? 😅 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/7f/Pinkie_Pie_spreading_Bulk_Biceps%27_arms_EGSB.png Poor Applejack is Seasick 😵 And Rainbow wants a showdown with a Monster to defeat... ...while Sci-Twi just wants to have a good Trip for herself and her friends. Yeah who didn't want to stop the chef-cook with her most dangerous weapon, the "spatula of doom"?! (it has +1 on attack!) 😅 The evil magic infused Rabbit eating "evil carrots" - classic supervillain story 🙄 Yeah AJ, I know this is a kids show... but I also want to punch Rainbow here 😅 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/f8/Applejack_wipes_her_mouth_with_a_glare_EGSB.png Searching for "Bad Magic" and pointing as a double meaning word to Trixie who misunderstood that was a genius move 🤣 They said the thing! Pinkie Pie: "Do you mean when we turn into ponies or do you mean—?" Rainbow Dash: "No! The other thing!" Sunset Shimmer: "I always called that 'pony up'." Rainbow Dash: "[scoffs] The rainbow lasers!" - Btw, what do you wanna call it? I love how Sunset tries to mediate here and is being so blunt with Rainbow, otherwise she wont ever understand it... Rarity's new Love interest Ragamuffin is interesting - luckily Spike isn't here to watch that... 😏 I see no difference... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/d/df/Applejack_and_Ragamuffin_side-by-side_EGSB.png I love that song "All Good" and was that a wink from Sunset to Flash Sentry?! - Does that interaction hint at a renewed bond? 🥰 Welp, that was a short-lived song... The rainbow lasers attracted electric charges, causing a machine failure... - Luckily there is an extended Version of the song which is really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2fXPP86xF4 - Aswell as a Remix: [Ice Angel Remix] https://youtube.com/watch?v=Dl_nRQOHcyw On a ship... Rainbow Dash: "Oh! It's about to go down!" *facepalm* - The only evil that came up until now is you Rainbow 😅 Aje, Sci-Twi is really trying hard to give her friends the best experience... You are right: Rainbow IS also creating the problem... it's really frustrating... But she was right, it was the sign of the Storm King... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9e/Storm_King%27s_insignia_appears_in_the_water_EGSB.png Rainbow Dash: [growls] "You don't want me to be right because you're scared to be a superhero!" Sci-Twi: "We're not superheroes!" Rainbow Dash: "Oh, oh! Excuuuuse me! We're just ordinary girls who have saved the world from complete destruction multiple times!" Sci-Twi: "Uh, yes." - Welp... I'm with Rainbow on this one. How does the saying go? "With great power comes great responsibility..." - They should definitely be aware of that. But actively seeking trouble out, like Rainbow did, isn't always the answer - you need rest, too. We get it Ed, stop slobbering over MY Sunset 😏 - Just kidding 😅 Sunset Shimmer: "No one's blaming you for wanting to give us a normal spring break. We'd be having one if it weren't for me. I brought magic to this world in the first place." - Well, that's not entirely true: It's strongly implied that Starswirl (or/and his friend Clover the Clever) created that mirror, and Starswirl sent the Sirens into this world. Clover the Clever also brought an artifact here, so there was already some magic. However, Sunset acted as a kind of catalyst for it. Going into a wild jungle isn't a good idea... Where is Fluttershy if you need her? Quicksand is really dangerous if you do it wrong... ...Even more dangerous however was that moving plant creature... "most epic stick assist" 🤣 There it is equestrian magic... a wild portal that leads into Equestria! Yeah... you reacted exactly like we did! 😅 - Great reaction! Sci-Twi: [gasps] "All my things are horse things!" Sunset Shimmer: "'Round here we call them 'pony things'." - 🤣 Rainbow Dash: "It's just a little rain. I'm sure our friends are fine." ...Meanwhile total mayhem on the boat https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/1/10/Stormfeather_seeing_two_Rainbow_Dashes_EGSB.png - 🤣 Changeling? Leisurely hanging around while the rest are having problems... this is quite the contrast 😅 Pinkie Pie (pony): "Oh, hey, Rainbow Dash, pony-in-the-glasses-who-I-don't-recognize. Here. You have to try this! It's a fresh batch!" - 🤣 Sci-Twi: "You ponies are, like, superheroes!" Princess Twilight Sparkle: "Oh, we're not superheroes." Sci-Twi: "Sure, just ordinary ponies who save the world from complete destruction... multiple... times." Rainbow Dash: "Sound familiar?" - Nice comeback... 😏 Yeah Tempest inclusion would have been really cool... A human Tempest might have looked like this? https://www.instagram.com/nichiro.art/p/C6KIDEjP8S_/ Cool light-show: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/8/82/Staff_of_Sacanas%27_pillar_of_light_EGSB.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/26/Staff_of_Sacanas_drawing_in_magic_EGSB.png Welp that was resolved fast... Rainbow Dash: "I learned we don't have to go looking for trouble. Just have to be there for each other when it finds us." - That's the message! 🙃 Sci-Twi: "But I guess if you hadn't run off, we wouldn't have what we need to go back and save our friends." - Fate does weird things sometimes... Or writers imaginations 😅 Rainbow Dash: It's hero time! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/75/Rainbow_tapping_on_her_geode_EGSB.png - Was that a Ben 10 reference? Sci-Twi: "Whatever the seven of us are facing, however our lives are changing, we're going through it together. So, let's get everyone off this boat like the superheroes we are! Who's with me?" - finally, and a great speech Sci-Twi! And now they are heroes, rescuing all the ship-passenger's on the ship Why should you ever apologize for talking how you feel about Sunset? We absolutely understand you - and its by far the least strange thing in this fandom 😅 "Technically could they not just go into the portal and transfer everyone through that other portal in Equestria?" - Funny you would say that 😅 https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/1/1f/Sunset_arrives_with_humans_as_ponies_EGSB.png - they did... but sadly no further interactions 😅 You are absolutely right... we were all waiting for that moment and you didn't fail to deliver 🤣💙 --- "Spring Breakdown" really threw me for a loop in the best ways... So, we start with Rainbow Dash, who takes center stage with her usual adventurous, proactive personality, always on the lookout for Equestrian magic causing trouble - even on a spring break cruise! She's totally convinced there's danger lurking, and while that level of vigilance is classic Rainbow, it does end up disrupting everyone else's chill vacation vibe. Her friends just want to relax, but she's so caught up in her "potential threats" radar that it stirs up tension. Honestly, at first, I was (like you) a bit frustrated with her obsession. It felt like she was being reckless and ruining the cruise, which, funny enough, annoyed some viewers just like it annoyed her friends, as it promoted reckless behavior! But by the end, she learns not to chase trouble for its own sake and instead to stay with her friends in case any trouble seeks them out. It was a nice little growth moment for her, even if she had a rocky start... Then there's Sci-Twi, who went to all the trouble of organizing the cruise in the first place to give everyone a well-deserved break. But of course, Rainbow couldn't let that last, especially when she went off on her own and Sci-Twi, along with Sunset, had to go after her. That leads them to this uncharted island where they find a portal to Equestria. And oh wow, when Sci-Twi, Sunset, and Rainbow transform into their pony forms - it was such a fantastic twist! Sci-Twi getting to meet her pony counterpart, Princess Twilight, was absolutely stunning! Speaking of Sunset, she's great here, playing peacemaker between Rainbow and Sci-Twi, trying to get Rainbow to just enjoy the break rather than stirring things up. But when Rainbow heads off on her solo mission, Sunset's leadership really shines, and she and Sci-Twi go on an impromptu rescue mission. I loved how Sunset balanced out the group, especially with Rainbow's prior over-the-top behavior. One of the things I found fascinating was how this special shows the growing connections between both worlds. The statue at Canterlot High isn't the only portal, and magic has this way of spilling over into the EQG world, thanks to artifacts and residual magic. It adds another layer to how these worlds are linked, which explains why magic keeps leaking into the EQG universe. The whole cross-dimensional interplay creates this theme of unexpected consequences, and I love how they keep expanding on it. The buildup in the special was a bit slow, but as events unfolded, it turned into something unexpectedly exciting: Visiting Equestria is one of the most entertaining moments of EQG - seeing them meet their counterparts has been something fans have wanted forever. And this moment doesn't disappoint as it was hilarious when Sunset and her EQG-friends tried to get unnoticed to the castle and even met Princess Twilight... 🤩 However, to watch Princess Twilight showing them around, sharing stories of their achievements and realizing they're basically superheroes was a perfect nod to what Rainbow kept saying all along! Unusually, there's no main villain this time around - instead, the residual magic of the Storm King becomes the source of conflict which threatened actual life on a boat - And it says a lot, if the lingering effects of the Storm King's magic were in some way eerier and felt more dangerous than his actual presence during the prior MLP-Movie... 😏 Although the mechanics of how his magic crossed into the EQG world aren't fully explained, it's clear that fragments of his power seeped through the portal - a nod to magic's unpredictability in some way... Rainbow was definitely a lot to handle, but it brought up an interesting point with her conviction about their superhero roles, which this special explores thoughtfully. The characters' growth as they embrace responsibility for magical issues has become a meaningful arc in EQG, pushing them from being ordinary high school students to protectors against otherworldly threats. It's like the old saying, "With great power comes great responsibility", and that's where this story leads. The characters are shifting from just high school students to actual protectors since the first movie, and their acceptance of that responsibility is a nice evolution. Rainbow's methods were over-the-top, sure, but they also opened up that superhero discussion in an, let's say 'interesting' way. Overall, the ultimate highlight (as you can guess) has to be the crossover into Equestria, where we finally get that transformation into pony forms for Sunset, Rainbow, and Sci-Twi. That part was so unique, and while the pacing at the start was a bit slow, the build-up to that moment and the ending totally made up for it. Even though it took some time to get going, it really picks up after the first half, with a surprising, emotional and very fan-service climax that you don't expect. The change of setting away from school brought a fresh atmosphere, and the humor throughout was well-executed. The whole shift between the light-hearted, relaxing scenes in Equestria and the chaos on the ship had me laughing, especially with Pinkie's pie-shenanigans, Trixie's "bad magic" and her water-summoning scene. Those little moments, like the EQG characters finally meeting their Equestrian counterparts, were pure fan-service and completely worth the wait in the end. - I wish Spike had made an appearance, though! All in all, despite a bit of a rough start, "Spring Breakdown" was absolutely entertaining and delivered many memorable moments! --- This was a whirlwind of a special, and I completely agree with you… absolutely worth it in the end! Watching your reaction as the suspense built, right up to that peak moment and climax, was pure joy! Thank you so much for partaking in this journey! 💙😅

WILD! And yes it’s not failed in offering me peak moments. Yes I knew everyone was waiting for me to get to that moment. And nice storm king inclusion! And yes that first half was rough but after? Worth it.

This was a crazy one lol so many emotions! Equestria girls definitely wows me too so you’re not alone there, and you’re right I was lol 😆 I was like just you wait you’re gonna see something amazing you won’t forget! it’s something everyone’s been waiting for since the start of equestria girls, rd was annoying for the first half but it worked, and some of the storm king being there which was kinda insane lol I never expected him in any form, I enjoyed this special for some of the best moments of equestria girls lol or at least my favorite moments.

Pinkie_applepie

It really is. Still thinking how to rate it. And perfect way to describe it!

Ed

Spring Breakdown is definitely a confounding one to rate. It's a whole lot of really good character interactions searching for a plot
