Celestia being still a teacher...yeah sounds about right, but Luna might be still doing her dreamtherapies? Yes... the time flew by... unbelievable... ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

So it comes out. Still, I needed them to be more useful but I understand it ๐Ÿ˜’ Twilighting. Love it ๐Ÿ˜‚ Fore equestria. I will always get goosebumps at this line In a way but I still stand by the mane 6 (besides Fluttershy) not seeing him as a friend. Amazing amazing speech. He fooled me with his sacrifice but damn that was so good. Oo that is true about the poniesโ€™ roles! Subtle but lovely to see Yes definitely is a future without the reliance on material things and more the strength and bond. Retirement is crazy and unexpected. After seeing their vacations, they might want to come back ๐Ÿ˜‚. No but furthering the prophecy and path that was set for twilight since the beginning. Always need more Luna but seems Celestia is somewhat in control since sheโ€™s the โ€œolderโ€ sister Celestia will continue to be a teacher and Lunaโ€ฆ huh. Iโ€™m not sure. Thatโ€™s a great question Discord is definition of a wild card. And thatโ€™s also why he probably remains a top character and villain in the series. Can we call him a villain? Finally meeting the final boss. And he unites all the previous villains. Very interesting way to introduce him and the season. Ahhh thatโ€™s an awesome Easter egg! Maybe we gotta watch G1 ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€ And yes this mix will interesting to monitor! Makes their bantering fun and true as they also potentially navigate friendship Sombra!!!! Ngl I remember looking at thumbnails and seeing he appeared in S9. This was the one spoiler I somewhat saw But by the time this appeared I had forgotten how it transpired anyways. And yeah what a brilliant plan!! Yeah what symbolism losing the tree of harmony and the elements! Everyone just a stepping stone and lesson for twilight and the mane 6 Taking away her safety net. Love this explanation A fantastic and finale season premiere. Manโ€ฆ. Where has the time gone ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Great developments with the growth of mane 6 and twilight, new leadership, and the alliance of villains! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: - Good for you, I like how you are doing. Keep it up! ๐Ÿ˜„ Sooo much urgency without any reason... yep sounds like Celestia is trolling again ๐Ÿ˜… But there is still big news! The princesses are retiring... that's new... and unexpected... ...even less expected though, was Discord's appearance as the reporter asking all the right questions! And yeah... Twilight will be the successor ๐Ÿ˜† Yeah no change of the opening... ๐Ÿ˜ฃ Rainbow Dash: "Nope! Makes perfect sense. We're awesome!" - this was to be expected from Rainbow... - "[gasps] Does this mean we get all your powers?! Ooh, ooh! I call dibs on showing up in everypony's dreams!" - I would call dibs on that too! Welp... Your question about the time gap between Seasons 8 and 9, considering Princess Luna's comment that "Equestria is currently enjoying its longest period of harmony in recent years", is understandable. However, I would guess she meant since Season 1, as every problem was resolved without any lasting catastrophic side effects. I say this because none of the ponies, like the Baby Cakes, really seemed to have grown up much. Twilight Sparkle: "It'll be a bit of an adjustment, but I imagine the transfer of power will be a lengthy process, which willโ€”" Princess Celestia: "Actually, we just need a few days to put together a little ceremony." Twilight Sparkle: "[nervous laugh] A few days?!" - Oh, Celestia... you have to be trolling. You should definitely know Twilight better than to surprise her with a remark like that. Trollestia is, as always, living up to one of her many nicknames perfectly. ๐Ÿ˜… Princess Celestia: "Everything you've gone through over the years has been a training program." - Remember back to the S4 finale when I mentioned how the fandom theorized that Celestia and Discord were intentionally acting weak or staging betrayals? Well, with that remark, it's very much confirmed! Celestia consistently stepped aside for Twilight and her friends to save the day, preparing her for this very moment. ๐Ÿ˜ AJ is casually picking up Twilight and places her on her seat: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/35/Applejack_lifts_Twilight_into_her_throne_S9E1.png - Kind of like a mother would do to her kid ๐Ÿ˜… - Hence dubbed as "the mother of the group" ๐Ÿคฃ And this time, Twilights anxiety got to another level! And thus my new most favorite term of the show was born... Twilight Sparkle: "It's just... I know I said yes, but then they said "in a few days", and there's still so much to figure out! It's all happening so fast! [hyperventilating into paper bag] I think I need someโ€” [sips water, gulps] Okay! I'll feel much betterโ€”" Rarity: "โ€”once you make a plan?" Twilight Sparkle: "Oh, wow. It's like youโ€”" Spike: "โ€”knew you were going to react this way? We did." Pinkie Pie: "Classic 'Twilight-ing'." Twilight Sparkle: "'Twilight-ing'? You... You made me a verb?" - ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ - Even more funny... it made it into the urban dictionary: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=twilighting - the 3rd entry I love that scene - Twilights friends are the best! https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/9/9a/Fluttershy_patting_Twilight_Sparkle%27s_hoof_S9E1.png Twilight Sparkle: "You're all acting so calm! But this is a big deal! What do we do if something big happens and the princesses aren't there to help?!" Rainbow Dash: "Um, if you think about it, they literally almost never help." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-j6lYkTUzA ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ I love that whole goddamn scene so much when they acknowledged everything the fandom had to say about the Princesses and to Twilights behavior during unplanned stress situations... And I loved how calm the rest of the Mane 6 reacted to these news and even calmed her down. It was just soo good! AJ: "Do Flim and Flam count?" Considering the Season 5 finale where they even had their own dystopian future... I would say yes... But some villains still lurk in the dark... Chrysalis' sanity seems to have a little knack? https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/2b/Queen_Chrysalis_laughing_crazily_S9E1.png The Villains are back! Taken in by Grogar, a new and even more fearsome villain! He was even able to bring Sombra back to life... but considering, he was an Umbrum, who don't really die, well... maybe it's easier...to bring him back. Grogar: "And do you know why they've always bested you? It is because they work together. Where one is weak, another is strong, and thus unified, they are a formidable force! But we shall use their own strategy to defeat them." - Thus the Legion of Doom was born. And Cozy Glow is as adorably... evil as always ๐Ÿ˜… To see someone else Twilighting (especially Starlight) was new... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/3/3d/Starlight_Glimmer_starts_to_hyperventilate_S9E1.png - Starlight's attempt to use reverse psychology sadly failed... And 7.432 things... Twilight has left to do... um... wow... no wonder these long lists exists... ...maybe you should invent something like a... computer? ๐Ÿ˜… I love how Discord is trying to convince the Mane 6 to use their confidence instead of using the Elements... ...but the Element are back! Would be a shame if they were lost again... ๐Ÿ‘€ How did Cadence and Shining Armor forgot about Flurry Heart..!? yeez... Sombra: "Long live the king." - We all know what reference that is, right? Sombras successful invasion of the Crystal Empire this time is going much faster than before... ...so is his first defeat by the Mane 6 this time around... but it was way too easy... Thats one cautious Cadence here... ๐Ÿ˜… https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/2/2c/Princess_Cadance_returns_ready_to_fight_S9E1.png Twilight Sparkle: "I still don't feel like I'm one hundred percent ready, but will I ever?" Applejack: "Knowing you? Nope." Twilight Sparkle: "I have you guys, and we have the Elements. And together, we've never failed. We'll be okay." - finally some confidence, that got just shattered as Sombra reappeared and destroyed the elements... and the Tree of Harmony with it... and thus Equestria's most powerful weapon was... destroyed... It was a huge schock for not just the Mane 6, but also the Fandom as these, with it all it's connections to the Pillars, Map etc., existed for a couple of years and were the mainstay throughout the series... The first part was completely rushed yes... it could have been easily a 3-parter... Now the big question is: How did Sombra survive the Rainbow blast? When all hope is lost and no plan can be made... Twilight is still able to be the leader if it matters, she acts, instead of just standing frozen about the situation... Yeah I can see her Leader qualities... - She is growing! Pinkamena Diane Pie, former rock-farmer... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/f/f7/Pinkie%27s_forelock_turns_into_a_drill_S9E2.png ...and a 4th wall power drill... But holy f* is Rarity ready... https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/a3/Rarity_%22show_me_the_muddy%21%22_S9E2.png Imagine your friends getting turned into mindless follower of a villain... dreadful... Pinkie Pie: [sobbing] "He made them bake a black licorice fruitcake that says "Congratulations to Our Favorite Supreme Emperor King Sombra" in green frosting! It's the ugliest cake I've ever seen!" - The color green seems always to be hated on... ๐Ÿ˜† Green like the Everfree Forest, that without being inhibited by the Tree is also growing out of control... ...and the Mane 6 have to rely on their trusty gardening utensils to fight against it... Fluttershy: "For our friends!" Applejack and Rarity: "For our families!" Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash: "For our home!" Twilight Sparkle: "For Equestria!" - Where did I hear something like that before... was it Avengers? ๐Ÿ˜… https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/c/c3/Mane_Six_ready_to_fight_for_Equestria_S9E2.png - Frightening bunch! - They should call themselves, the "Gardeners of Equestria"! ๐Ÿ˜… Sombra is easily able to conquer Canterlot as the Princesses are out... and finally do something! They help out against the Everfree Forest! And Starswirl deals a punch with his magic: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/7/75/Star_Swirl_carving_the_vines_to_shreds_S9E2.png And now imagine you have to fight these mind-controlled friends... absolutely devastating... Discord is as difficult as ever... but he is also right about the Mane 6 to believe in themselves... Discord: "Well, I guess it's on me to be the MVP today. I was betting on you, and I do hate being wrong. Although if you think about it, I am your friend, so maybe you win because friendship wins?" - What do you think, is that the case? (In my opinion, in a way it is.) Discord: "Although Fluttershy should get most of the credit for that. She's my favorite." - He deliberately led Sombra into attacking Fluttershy with this statement to dramatically play the hero and getting "hurt" in that process, to deliver a sentimental and heartfelt message to the Mane 6: "Listen to me. You don't need me. You don't need the princesses, and you certainly don't need the Elements. Fluttershy, you will always be kind. Applejack, you will always be honest. Rarity, you'll always be generous. And Rainbow Dash will be loyal as can be. Pinkie will always bring laughter wherever she goes. And Twilight... you are and always will be the embodiment of magic. You lost sight of what's in front of you. You're here, together, willing to give everything you've got for Equestria. Nothing and nopony can ever take that away from you, because that's who you are." - It was a truly impactful moment that encouraged the Mane 6 to believe in themselves and the strength of their bonds, independent of their former artifacts, which were merely symbols of the Elements they already embodied. It also inspired them to take action once more, ultimately leading to the decisive defeat of Sombra. And yes it was somewhat heinous, that Discord pretended to be out of commission, but it was with real good intentions... ๐Ÿ‘€ Princess Luna: "Also, truth be told, Celestia and I had fun today fighting side-by-side with Star Swirl for our home. It's been years since we've gotten to do what you girls do. You all make it look so easy." Rainbow Dash: "Well, we are kind of an awesome team." Fluttershy: "Every adventure is heart-pounding, but so rewarding." Pinkie Pie: "I'm up for anything, as long as it's with all of you!" Rarity: [giggles] "Life certainly hasn't been dull since we met." Applejack: "Nowhere else I'd rather be." Twilight Sparkle: "We are pretty incredible together. And we would do anything for Equestria. I guess I know, when the time comes, as long as we're together, we definitely got this." - Rest of Mane Six and me: "Awww!" - Finally! Meanwhile at the "Legion of Doom"-cave Grogar prepares his devious plan to stop the Mane 6.... This will be a wild season! --- Wow, what a whirlwind of a season opener, it was quite the ride and a delicious treat. This episode packed in so much - from character growth and epic battles to nostalgic callbacks and some surprising twists. Whether it was Twilight stepping up in the face of overwhelming pressure, Discord's chaotic yet insightful shenanigans, or the chilling debut of Grogar and his league of villains, there was never a dull moment. Let's dive into all the highs (and a few lows) from this ambitious and action-packed start to the final season! = Twilight and her friends = I have to say, it was quite the rollercoaster for Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6. With Celestia and Luna announcing their retirement and passing the reins to Twilight, her perfectionist side and fear of failure really kicked in. She had one of her classic "mental breakdown" moments, but this time she bounced back quicker than usual, showing some growth. The fandom's fast adopted term "Twilighting" perfectly captures her tendency to panic and over-prepare. While some might think it's overused, I find it endearing and relatable, as it adds depth to her character. Despite her initial freak-out, Twilight showed real confidence and decisiveness in organizing the final stand against Sombra without the Elements, even managing to deflect his attacks. This was particularly impressive since his power used to far exceed hers. Twilight's ability to deflect Sombra's magic is a clear mark of her growing magical strength, thats not just about raw power anymore - it's about her confidence in and her embodiment of the magic of friendship. Fans have really appreciated how this moment showcases her evolution as a character, highlighting that her strength comes from both within and the connections she's built. - A message that was always conveyed through the teachings and lessions, but never directly taken up by the Mane 6 until now. The rest of the Mane 6 also had significant moments. Rainbow Dash's characteristic sarcasm and humor were on display, grounding the group during tense situations. Her loyalty and willingness to fight against overwhelming odds, even without the Elements, showcased her growth and courage, contrasting with Twilight's tendency to overthink. Pinkie Pie's humor lightened the dire situation, providing moments of levity during Sombra's attacks and the destruction of the Elements. However, this time, the situation was so grim that even Pinkie's usual cheerfulness seemed somewhat subdued - which was entirely understandable. Fluttershy stood alongside her friends against King Sombra, demonstrating her growth from a timid pony to a steadfast defender. Her bravery here shows how far she has come since the early seasons. Rarity balanced her usual grace and wit with a fierce determination to protect her friends and Equestria, reinforcing the group's cohesion and Applejack remained the dependable backbone of the group, steady and focused amid the chaos, her pragmatic approach providing stability. For possibly the first time The destruction of the Elements and the looming retirement of Celestia and Luna heighten the stakes to unfathomable heights and bleakness, forcing them to confront their mortality and prepare for a future where they bear the full responsibility of protecting Equestria. You could say, moving beyond the Elements of Harmony is a metaphor for maturity, showing their ability to handle challenges independently. All the interactions between the Mane 6 in this premiere, were appreciated as a reflection of their deep bonds and growth over the series. This is also reflected by her trust in Starlight Glimmer to take over Twilight's most heartfelt project: The School of Friendship - which beautifully showcases both her leadership skills and her confidence in her friends' abilities. Twilight's journey throughout the series has truly made her a unifying force among her friends and all of Equestria. Her teachings on the magic of friendship have saved the kingdom multiple times, which is probably why Celestia and Luna felt confident crowning her. Her mentorship to characters like Starlight and the Young Six has also been crucial in maintaining Equestria's safety and unity. The Mane 6's unity and teamwork have always been their greatest strengths, and their victory over Sombra using their own inner magic beautifully underscores that their true power comes from their unbreakable bonds of friendship, reflecting their growth as individuals and as a group since the early seasons. = The Princesses retirement = First off, Celestia and Luna announcing their retirement and passing the reins to Twilight is huge. It feels like the culmination of Twilight's journey from an ordinary book pony, over the Princess of Friendship to the ruler of Equestria. But it did make us all wonder wonder how her friends will fit into this new leadership role. And with Twilight handing over the School of Friendship to Starlight, it seems like a deliberate move to prepare her for the big leagues. Their retirement marks a significant generational shift, showing the Princesses' trust in Twilight and her friends to lead Equestria into the future. It's a bold move, but it speaks volumes about their confidence in the Mane 6. I couldn't help but laugh at the Mane Six's joke about the Princesses "never doing anything". It's a hilarious nod to the fandom's long-standing joke about Celestia and Luna's seeming absence during crises. But let's not forget, Celestia ruled solo for over a thousand years, preventing and eliminating threats on her own, before the Mane 6 stepped in. This could simply reflect her trust in them and the carefully orchestrated preparation for Twilight's ascension as Equestria's ruler. I like to view Celestia as a figure of profound wisdom and long-term vision, the mastermind behind Twilight's path to leadership. Which is also implicated by Celestia's remark: "Everything you've gone through over the years has been a training program". Celestia's mentorship has always been the backbone of this transition. Her unwavering belief in Twilight's abilities makes this moment feel like the natural next step. On the flip side, Luna seemed a bit sidelined in this premiere. I wish her contributions were highlighted more. Many fans see the decision to have Twilight take over as a logical progression, given her growth throughout the series. It even aligns with Lauren Faust's original vision of Twilight succeeding Celestia. As to what they might do in their post-retirement? Well, Celestia and Luna could serve as symbolic figures or guardians, similar to retired monarchs, allowing them to remain present without overshadowing Twilight's leadership in a way... but what do you think? = The ever unpredictable schemer Discord = Discord was in top form. He took on this usual supportive trickster role, nudging Twilight and the gang to rely on their own strengths rather than the Elements of Harmony. His whole "fake injury" act during King Sombra's attack? Classic Discord - twisted but brilliant. He pretended to be gravely wounded, making it seem like the Mane Six had to handle things without him, only to reveal later he was fine all along. This move was all about pushing Twilight to step up as a leader, especially with the princesses planning to retire. Discord wanted her to see that she and her friends had the power within themselves, without leaning on external tools like the Elements. This manipulation was clever, which also showed his growth and commitment to his friends. His confidence in their abilities was so clear - he even bet on it. But it was still a risky move, that blurred the line between being helpful and manipulative, challenging the trust the Mane Six had in him. It's that classic Discord duality: reformed yet mischievous, mixing chaos with loyalty, everything in one... In the end, Discord's actions were about teaching Twilight and her friends that they didn't need the Elements - or even him - to succeed. It was a lesson in self-reliance and growth, aligning with the episode's broader themes. His methods might have been unorthodox, but his intentions seemed noble. There was even talk among fans about whether Discord, with his unique abilities and confidence, might be a better ruler for Equestria than Twilight. But his unpredictability and ego probably make him unsuitable for such a role, highlighting Twilight's steadiness and long-term suitability for leadership despite her flaws. Anyway, Discord's chaotic nature is also the reason why he is such an intriguing character... ๐Ÿ‘€ Overall, Discord's role in the premiere was a blend of mentorship, mischief, and moral ambiguity. It sparked some valuable discussions about trust, leadership, and the balance between chaos and order. Should he have been more direct, or was his approach justified by its results? - What do you think? = Grogar = Introducing Grogar as the ultimate villain was a bold move. Portrayed as an ancient and malevolent figure, his reign was described as a "fear-soaked epoch of darkness", which really sets him apart from previous antagonists. His backstory reminded me a lot of Morgoth from Tolkien's The Silmarillion, and being called the "Father of Monsters" echoes the Greek Titan Typhon. His reputation as a necromancer (as he revived Sombra) and creator of monsters adds a layer of mystique. The crystal ball he uses, reminiscent of the Eye of Sauron, symbolizes his far-reaching vision and control. This portrayal brings a sense of gravitas and menace to the series, elevating the stakes for the final season. Seeing Grogar assemble villains like Chrysalis, Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Sombra was intriguing. His authoritarian leadership style demands loyalty, and he doesn't hesitate to test their teamwork, using Sombra's solo attack as a lesson in the importance of cooperation. This approach highlights his strategic mindset and establishes a clear hierarchy among the villains. - The interactions between Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis were also noteworthy. Their mix of fear and reluctant loyalty towards Grogar was interesting, and I found Cozy Glow surprisingly more likable in this context. However, Grogar's ability to command such formidable villains underscores his status as a superior antagonist. Interestingly, Grogar's character is a revival from the G1 My Little Pony series, where he also played the villain. It's fascinating to see how they've dusted off this character and reintroduced him, adding a nostalgic touch for long-time fans that watched G1. Grogar's introduction as the ultimate villain adds depth and gravitas to the final season. His role as a strategist and unifier of villains provides a compelling foil to the Mane Six, emphasizing themes of unity, leadership, and resilience. While his presence is exciting, we have to see if the show will fully capitalize on his potential. As for your question of where you might have heard him the first time: Grogar was first mentioned in the season seven episode A Flurry of Emotions as the antagonist of the children's storybook Gusty the Great, which Twilight Sparkle reads to a group of sick foals at the Ponyville Hospital. In the story, Grogar battles a group of unicorn warriors led by the titular hero. Due to Gusty stealing his bell, he loses all of his magic in the end. = Assembling the League of Doom = The dynamics among the villains were a standout. Queen Chrysalis is still hung up on her grudge against Starlight Glimmer, which really shows how she can't let go of the past. It's interesting, especially when you compare her to other villains who have bigger plans beyond just revenge. Her interactions with Cozy Glow and Tirek brought some unexpected humor. Chrysalis manages to be both condescending and, when it suits her, surprisingly cooperative. The moment she shows fear towards Grogar really highlights his dominance, even over someone as defiant as her. Speaking of Tirek, he comes across as the pragmatic one. Often, he's the "voice of reason" among the villains. His partnership with Cozy Glow has this mentor-student vibe, but let's be real, he's still looking out for being the number one. His cautious respect for Grogar's power is telling, especially given his own destructive history. Cozy Glow is as deceptive as ever. She uses her innocent appearance to manipulate those around her. Her relationship with Tirek is particularly intriguing - she seems to respect him but isn't above subtly undermining him. Her usual bravado takes a hit when Grogar's in the picture, showing a clear power imbalance. Yet, her ambition doesn't waver - she's eager to prove her worth. Most, myself included, find this blend of innocence and malice both unique and unsettling. There are even moments where she comes off as genuinely likable, which is a surprising twist... The alliance of these villains is a mix of conflict and uneasy cooperation. They're united under Grogar's command but clearly don't trust each other. Sombra's defiance and subsequent downfall serve as a stark reminder of the importance of teamwork. Grogar's leadership is the glue holding them together (so it seems). His ability to intimidate and control such powerful individuals cements his role as the ultimate villain. The tension between their personal ambitions and the necessity to work together sets the stage for potential conflicts down the line. On a lighter note, the banter among Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow added some levity. These interactions gave more depth to their characters and made the alliance more engaging. Overall, the villains in these episodes brought depth, humor, and tension to the story. While Grogar is the driving force behind their union, the individual dynamics and conflicts among them make the group compelling. Their interactions touch on themes of trust, ambition, and the challenges of collaboration. It will be interesting how this unfolds. = King Sombra's return = I was totally caught off guard by King Sombra's return in the Season 9 premiere. This time around, he was way more talkative and arrogant than before, which a lot of fan's missed the first time around. His plan was pretty ambitious - retaking the Crystal Empire, destroying the Tree of Harmony, and brainwashing all of Equestria. Gotta admit, he executed it brilliantly. Sombra showed some serious strategic skills this time, like evading the Elements and quickly taking control of Equestria. But his overconfidence was his downfall - he underestimated the Mane Six and their inner magic. His defiance against Grogar, choosing to go solo instead of joining the villain alliance, really highlighted his arrogance and individuality - but served as a successful example to Grogar's theory that a unified attack against the Mane 6 might work, instead of fighting them alone. And while it was cool to see more of Sombra's personality after his brief appearance in Season 3, his defeat felt a bit underwhelming. But his ability to induce nightmares? That's just terrifying. The fact that he didn't need to give the Mane 6 nightmares because he was already controlling their friends' minds that led them to fight against them was even more chilling... However, the big question remains: How was Sombra able to evade the first Elements of Harmony's Rainbow Blast? My theory centers on the Mane 6's overreliance on the Elements of Harmony. I will elaborate on this point further down. = The Elements and the Tree of Harmony's destruction = Wow, there's a lot to unpack. King Sombra's destruction of the Tree of Harmony and the Elements was a jaw-dropper. Seeing such iconic symbols shattered was both shocking and emotional. The Elements have always embodied the core values of friendship - honesty, kindness, laughter, generosity, loyalty, and magic. Their destruction really drove home that these virtues aren't just tied to physical objects - they're inherent in the characters themselves. It's a powerful reminder that the magic of friendship comes from within, not from external artifacts. This event also mirrors the Mane Six's journey toward greater independence. With Twilight preparing to rule Equestria without Celestia and Luna's constant guidance, losing the Elements pushes them to rely on their own strengths. It's a clear signal that they're ready to protect their world on their own terms. Interestingly, even without the physical Elements, the spirit of harmony lives on in both the Mane Six and the Young Six. It suggests that harmony isn't about objects but is a living force embodied by those who uphold its values. And I am not the only one speculating that the Tree allowed itself to be destroyed by Sombra (hence why he survived the initial Friendship blast) to teach this very lesson about inner strength. The destruction of the Elements marks a significant turning point in the series. While it raised questions and emotions, it ultimately reinforced the show's central message: that the true power lies within the bonds of friendship. = Conclusion = Like you, I was blown away by how it brought together so many themes from previous seasons. The episode delved into the Mane Six's dependence on the Elements of Harmony, challenging their belief that their strength came from these artifacts. Instead, they had to realize that their true power lies within themselves and their friendship. This felt like a natural yet bold progression for their characters. Twilight, in particular, struggled with this shift, as her tendency toward structure and reliance on external tools was put to the test. Watching her adapt her leadership style was a compelling narrative thread. The episode placed Twilight at the forefront of a monumental transition, highlighting her growth as a leader while exposing lingering vulnerabilities. The destruction of the Elements of Harmony symbolically removed her safety net, forcing her and the Mane Six to rely solely on their inherent bonds and abilities. This arc served as a metaphor for adulthood and taking on greater responsibilities, showing that while Twilight still faces challenges, she has grown to meet them - though not without stumbles along the way. I also loved the idea of the villains teaming up to form a "league of villains". The alliance between Grogar and other antagonists set up a season-long arc that felt fresh and exciting. The high stakes and tension, especially with the destruction of the Elements and the villains' alliance, elevated the urgency and gravity of the situation. The bleakness portrayed was something never seen in the show before - it conveyed a deep-seated desperation as the situation spiraled more and more out of control. However, there was a lot to unpack, and the story moved a bit too quickly. The first part felt completely rushed - it could have easily been a three-parter. It's a shame (and a missed opportunity) that they didn't extend it. Also Starlight Glimmer and Cadance's family played subtle but important roles in the premiere. While not at the forefront of the action, they added depth to the narrative's themes of legacy, leadership, and unity. I appreciated their inclusion but wished for more active involvement. In summary, the Season 9 premiere masterfully intertwines character development and thematic depth, setting a compelling stage for the series' conclusion. Twilight Sparkle's evolution is evident as she confronts her anxieties, stepping into leadership with newfound confidence. The Mane Six collectively demonstrate their growth, underscoring the series' enduring message that true strength emanates from within and through the bonds of friendship. The introduction of Grogar and the assembly of a formidable villain alliance elevate the narrative stakes, promising a season rich in conflict and collaboration. Despite some critiques regarding pacing and character focus, the episode effectively balances humor and gravity, particularly through Discord's complex role, which challenges the Mane Six to rely on their inner strengths. The destruction of the Elements of Harmony serves as a poignant metaphor for maturity, compelling the characters to transcend reliance on external artifacts. While certain elements could benefit from deeper exploration, the episode succeeds in engaging the audience and building anticipation for the series culmination. --- This Season 9 premiere really struck a chord with me. The title, "The Beginning of the End", perfectly captures the weight of this final season we're about to experience together - it's been quite a journey... And as we approach the last episodes of MLP, I can't help but reflect on the incredible ride it's been, filled with countless highs and a few lows. There's never been another series in my life that has given me so much joy and meant so much to me. - It's been wonderful to follow your journey and watch your insightful reactions - your perspective has truly become a meaningful part of this experience. ๐Ÿ˜ I'm so excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds for you! I especially loved hearing your theories about where this season might go. Your "fight fire with fire" comment really stood out - it's such an intriguing take! ๐Ÿ˜„ Thank you! ๐Ÿ’™

DeViruZz.eXe

It hits different after rereading the title ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Unexpected for sure We gotta watch G1 then ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Love the bleakness! And of course discord doing this ๐Ÿคฃ

Well here it is the beginning of the end ๐Ÿ˜ข such an awesome season premiere! sombra coming back like that was so unexpected, I like the idea of the villain teaming up, kinda surprised that cozy is with them though but definitely an interesting league of villains we got here lol, Grogar is from G1 which is pretty interesting! Elements of harmony broken is very shocking everything looked extremely bleak in this one so I definitely felt that too, discord being the mvp was perfect lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ him faking being hurt so twilight would have the confidence to win was pretty genius

S7e3, A Flurry of Emotions... the one where Twilight is trying to fit babysitting Flurry Heart into her already busy day. The story Twilight read to the sick foals was the story of how Gusty the Great defeated Grogar. That's where you've heard of him. Also, while you and I haven't seen it, he was apparently also a G1 villain.
