Discussion: S01 E08 Jerry

Wtf…….. oh my god.

I don’t know where to start. This was the episode that I dreamed of. We enter a world where there is no sign of human life. BMO is back but the group is also falling apart and at odds since the outcome of the last verse. BMO sacrifices himself to try and fix the remote but they die. Throughout this entire episode we get flashbacks of Simon’s and Betty’s relationship and how it developed and it is some of the most heart stirring and emotional I’ve ever been. I nearly teared up many times just with how sweet and delicate everything was with the music, cuteness, and just how their relationship had gone and ended up. This is one of my favorite plots of the series so to get this was everything I could’ve asked for and was done beautifully. Then ALL of this cuteness is cut immediately as Jerry turns out to be the lich. This is the verse where he was successful and destroyed all of mankind. Then Fionna reveals she had the crown this entire time so her guilt and uneasiness makes sense. Some could see it as plot armor or inserted but I feel it made the developments extremely hyped and climatic. She also states how she didn’t want Simon turning into that and their world to be different which is similar to how Marci felt. Unsure if they are back or it’s simply another verse but I guess there always must be sacrifice. Then scrabby also interferes so potentially the boss was the lich. The portal turns red similar to Golb so a lot is up in the air. But wow…. I was astonished at the levels of emotions and how they fleeted and how successful they are with capturing the atmosphere and tone of the verses they enter. God I love this show. Two of my biggest and most beloved plot points and they happen on the same episode. Wow. Also side note something similar happened on Inuyasha today so today is just pelting me with the most conflicting and heartfelt love and romance while also bringing up some tragedy. 10-9.8/10 (contemplating on if this was a 10/10 but I think this episode and the aftershock feels heavy and life changing so I think it is).
