Man. What an episode. I agree with everything you said here and the comments. But I especially liked your comparison to the dragon shy episode as this episode really felt like a matured version of that. Rainbow dash was sooooooo amazing this episode. And Fluttershy being afraid, overcoming, then giving up, and one last push. Just beautiful. Maybe I should re-rate this as a 10. Itβs so damn good.

2024-04-29 22:34:42 +0000 UTCHurricane Fluttershy, a episode with an alltime high excitement, drama, and a rewarding end. We get another glimpse about how the Cloudsdale Weatherfactory works to retrieve it's resources like water to produce clouds and so on. (YAY worldbuilding!) And thus a yearly competition was created to bring water from the surface up to the factory. This time it is Ponyville's turn and Rainbow Dash plans to break another cities (Fillydelphia) record by training up all the pegasi in Ponyville. Well except for one: Fluttershy - who is too afraid to participate in front of a crowd due to a traumatic event in her childhood, where she was teased by others for her inability to fly. After a lot of persuasion by RD she is willing to at least try, just to be crushed down by her imaginated flashbacks of her past and fails to get a good result. Luckily with some persuation of her furry friends, she knows that she has to overcome her fears and with their help she starts an awesome training montage (which is heavily inspired by the movie Rocky) and even improved by 5 times from 0.5 Wingpower to 2.3 which is a great improvement! - but she still fails in comparison to all the other Pegasi, who are around 10. - And feels humiliated after all this training and still insignificant insignificant to the cause and escapes the scene crying after a fallout with Rainbow. The show must go on and when push came to shove most of the needed pegasi got featherflu - but not just the competition is at stake, it is questionable if they are even able to reach the needed Wingpower of 800 to transport all the water to Cloudsdale. After a close call fail to create a tronado RD encourages everyone to try a second time and Fluttershy who couldn't just stand by and watch decides to help out to reach the designated number to create a magnificent tornado to lift all the water up. - She found her courage and spirit and is celebrated as the hero of the day! Some further thoughts: Fluttershy is a Tree became a reality (somewhat) - It was a nice nod to the episode "Over a barrel" in which her friends talked about it and all the memes in the Fan-Community. But i think you already got that reference :D Welp, there goes the missed chance to involve the Dragonball Z meme by including a (Wing-)powerlevel of over 9000 :D While Fluttershy is now confident in her daily life, she isn't when she has to perform with others around. Wow... Pegasi are tough and athletic ponies - Nice wing-ups (push-ups) :D The whole scene where Twilight explains with a smug smile the anemometer (i too didnt know what it was and it does in fact exist!) with a lot of technical words is somehow funny: "This is an anemometer. It measures your accelerative velocity and translates it into wing power, thus gauging your cumulative H2O anti-gravitational potential.", translated by Spike to "It tells you how fast you're flying and how strong your wings are." XD That Rainbow Dash is nearly 2 times faster/stronger than an above average Pegasus is interesting and awesome. The brain of traumatized people/ponies do some strange fickle things when it's triggered... Nothing makes sense, everything feels wrong. It's panic inducing... These imaginery Eyes present it really well. The fallout between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy is really heart-wrenching... :o Litteral Supportanimals, surprisingly even Angel is nice this time: D YEAH! EPIC MONTAGETIME! At least Rainbow Dash is not just worried about Fluttershy not participating - Rainbow Dash is wondering about how she can get Fluttershy "out of the dumps". I dont think the Sonic-Rainboom is a good idea in this case... it hast to be a suction force and a sonic-wave of explosion magnitude would destroy that. Considering 800 Wingpower was needed and it was at 795, Flutttershy did improve by at least 6! which is more than 12 times better than before! - I love Rainbow Dash in this episode: She isnt pushy or rude and really cares for Fluttershy - the chemistry between both is how it should be. A huge step forward from the "Dragonshy" episode, where Rainbow was too blunt and rude about Fluttershy's behaviour the whole time. Also love how Fluttershy got the courage to try and to leave her trauma behind. Even though it was kinda pressed by friends in need, it still was a huge step forward. Rainbow Dash showed us that she is a born leader - She IS able to train and lift others up. Great reaction, i loved your conclusion and your analogy to being a father of a son (In this case a daughter) who overcame adversity, that really bothered him. π

2024-04-28 11:38:53 +0000 UTCI loved this episode so much, made me emotional as well, I can relate to fluttershy performance anxiety is so hard especially when youβve been made fun and bullied before, and yes rainbow dash was amazing in this epsiode her character was perfect, she was written how everyone wants her to be instead on some episodes when sheβs rude for no reason, the message was beautiful believing in yourself even when you feel like you canβt do it.
