SHE-RA 1X11 "Promise Uncut Full Length Reaction
Added 2023-08-04 22:39:48 +0000 UTCHere's my full length unedited reaction for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power! This only includes my reaction and thoughts. There is no intro. I always start my recordings at 00:00:00 of the show to make timecode syncing much easier and the timecode is included. I watch through any recaps (if any) and intros. But it always starts at 00:00:00. Must have your own copy to watch along with, since I can't offer that due to copyright laws. Streamer: Netflix

Ah, the first really good episode of She-Ra :) It is interesting that half-way through the episode, Adora almost falls off a cliff and Catra saves her, but then at the end Catra actually cuts her down. Seeing the memories changed Catra's mind. The pivotal moment of the episode is of course the promise, but what really explains Catra's anger towards Adora is how it connects to the previous memory - where Shadow Weaver threatens to 'dispose' of Catra (i.e. kill her) if something were to happen to Adora. With that in mind, Adora leaving the Horde suddenly takes on a whole different level of importance for Catra, as it literally puts Catra's life at risk. It gets even worse when you look back at the second episode, when Adora defects - because Catra actually out right quotes the promise they made to each other to Adora ('It doesn't matter what they do to us, you look out for me, and I look out for you'). But Adora doesn't react to this, as if she doesn't remember the promise. Combined with the way Adora reacted when she recognized the memory of Shadow Weaver abusing Catra (telling Catra 'You don't have to go in there'), kinda suggests Adora has repressed certain memories. Its certainly suggestive that Adora was the one who voiced trepidation about the Shadow Weaver memory, whereas Catra simply walked into the room. All in all, you have two traumatized teenagers who both experienced serious abuse as children, and who were raised/trained to be soldiers since they were young. Its not really a surprise that they lack the communication skills to work out their issues. Adora shows a complete lack of understanding of Catra's perspective (notice how she just blankly stares at Catra when Catra tries to explain things multiple times in this episode), while Catra misattributes Adora to be the source of her misery, when its actually Shadow Weaver.
