I adore how genuinely COOL the Cool Kids are- they're just neat people, true to themselves and chill with others. I appreciate that they're totally down to hang out with a younger kid, even though they're all teens. I also think this episode is super notable in that... I believe it's the first time Steven genuinely raises his voice in overt anger about a situation? Seeing anger on Steven feels... wrong, in many ways, because he's usually such a bubbly, positive kid. All the same, it's almost relieving to me as a viewer that he has like... a line. He's not just gonna let people roll right over him forever, there comes a point where he's absolutely going to stand up for himself.

2023-09-17 21:25:02 +0000 UTCNo spoilers, this was explained in episode 2: Rose didn’t get to meet Steven, she gave up her physical form to give birth to him. He has her gem. She couldn’t live without a gem so she “passed” hers to him and therefore ceased to exist.
