I think I know what you're saying and I agree. There are points like this one that hit differently with the context of later seasons.

2024-05-05 21:05:03 +0000 UTCI will absolutely have things to say about the themes of this episode when you've finished the whole show. One of my top S1 episodes. There's strong positives to Steven's mature realization about how his parental figures are lost and confused and just doing the best they can to raise him, but there's another subtle element to all of this I can't wait to discuss later down the line.
