2024-01-23 13:44:54 +0000 UTCDang, I sat on "Whatever it Takes". That song stands out to me a lot more on a second... erm, third viewing. (I've seen a lot of reactions already.) I'm not convinced that Sir Pentious being told that is going to go nowhere quite yet. Alastor being told that though... hoo boy. I think this is the episode that makes me most curious about what comes next.

2024-01-20 12:33:51 +0000 UTCI think it's more that the mystery of WHO killed the angel was never going to be as important as what it means for both sides. Or what Alastor is going to do with that information. Less that the subplot ended and more that it evolved I feel. Good catch on that bit from Helluva Boss though. I love all the little worldbuilding that gets sprinkled around. The fact that most of these characters made small appearances in the pilot shows that a lot of this was planned from early on.

2024-01-20 12:28:58 +0000 UTCTo be honest i've been enjoying a lot this first half of season 1 but.... i must admit that this episode in particular makes me a little bit worried about the overall pacing of the show, specifically talking about Vaggie and Carmilla's plots and also how quickly they resolved the mystery of who killed the Executioner Angel... but im not gonna go into detail about those concerns because if i do my comment would become too long. We get to meet Zestial, it's nice to hear what he sounds like after just seeing a little bit of him in the Pilot, althought we already are familiar with this particular voice because is none other than James Monroe Iglehart, who also voices Ozzie and Vortex in Helluva Boss. It's a nice change of pace seeing Alastor talking to another Overlord as equals since it's clear that the Radio Demon doesn't really respect any of the Vees. And that's right! we get to witness and meeting of Overlords from Pentagram City, which are all designs we have already seen in the Pilot. Interestingly enough however... the scene in the Pilot where we see Zestial, Carmilla and Zeezi (the Dinosaur-looking Overlord) they were all together in the same room with Lucifer himself... which gives me the impression that they are the ones with the most influence out of all of them. One cool little detail i want to point out tho... Vaggie mentions Carmilla's full name which is Carmilla Carmine.... now... you probably don't remember this but in episode 5 of Helluva Boss's season 1 (The Harvest Moon Festival) the Holly Rifle that Striker was gonna use to kill Stolas was called "Carmine-crafted Blessing tipped Rifle" said by Moxxie himself..... which means that Carmilla is the one that collects the holly spears that the Executioners leave behind after the Exterminations and converts them to Holly Guns capable of Killing Sinners and Demon Royalty. This also makes me suspect that Carmilla was able to kill an Angel thanks to one of these Holly weapons that she manufactures, because... if all it took to kill an Angel was to have enough raw demonic power then it wouldn't make sense that this has been the first time an Executioner was killed.
