Here is my full length unedited reaction for Steven Universe! This only includes my reaction and thoughts. There is no intro. I always start my recordings at 00:00:00 of the show to make timecode syncing much easier and the timecode is included. I watch through any recaps (if any) and intros. But it always starts at 00:00:00. Must have your own copy to watch along with, since I can't offer that due to copyright laws. Streamer: Max

Oh man... the quick story you told at the end about a friend who expressed interest in drumming, parents bought a drumset, and then friend felt immense pressure to play is the story of my life, except in my case I crumpled and never actually got any good at it, ahah. This episode is a really relatable one for me. I definitely think Sadie's mother didn't mean any true harm, and was only wanting to support, but it's like that extreme "mom excitement" blinded her to her teen kid's actual feelings, and made the whole activity more about her as a parent trying to hype her kid than about the actual kid. Not to mention, from what Sadie described in this episode, it sounds like she was expressing like, a casual interest in a number of these hobbies. But instead of providing outlets for her to enjoy or practice those hobbies in a casual, no-pressure manner as she desired, she was constantly being thrown into the deep end... into competitive leagues, into sudden performances she never even wanted. Augh, it really is good to see that they were having a heart-to-heart by the end of the episode, because it seems they really needed it. I find this episode's placement very interesting, in that it follows immediately after Nightmare Hospital- another episode where a mother and a daughter have a heart-to-heart about a prolonged relational issue between them. The featured relational issues between the two episodes are quite different though (overly controlling parent vs overly supportive parent, so it provides a cool parental style contrast. Also- damn. Steven works those heels better than me lol

The Ultimate Fun Fact about this episode: The person who sings the song that Sadie loves so much “Haven’t you Noticed (I’m a Star)” is none other than Olivia Olson, the voice of Marceline in Adventure Time”. Also Sadie's mom Barb has already appeared in the show before, she was that one mailwoman who replaced Jaime when he got Depressed after Garnet rejected him. Barb is voiced by Kate Flannery, she also voices another prominent character in the Cartoon Network show called "OK KO Le's Be Heroes", which is a show that was created by Ian Jones Quartey... who is the Husband of Rebecca Sugar... the creator of Steven Universe. It hurts a little when you say that Sadie telling Lars about her plans would make things worse.... but you're probably right in this instance. It's just that i've always been a LarsxSadie Shipper, but i do understand the opposite point of view... during these first few seasons Lars was definetely the most hated character in the show, and not without reason.
