I'll admit, I didn't follow your lead and rewatch this arc on my own so it was a bit surreal suddenly jumping to the end of it. I do remember liking Eric though. He was pretty fun as far as filler villains go. Still, I don't appreciate this arc just intruding into canon the way it does. If you don't want to watch filler, you're stuck either skipping to this episode and being confused or skipping this episode too and missing out on canon material. Future filler arcs tend to be more courteous about it.
