ik its late but everytime peridot says thank you from then on she says WOW THANKS everytime its just so cool that was a staple for the whole series

2025-04-07 11:25:48 +0000 UTCPeridot's always been one of my fav gems, and this episode is what really sealed that for me. Getting to see the inner side of her that's inquisitive and playful was such a treat when the show initially sets her up as a villain. Love that feral little dork.

Given S2 & 3 were produced in one block, this is more of a MID season finale, I guess.) is really interesting to me. While Message Received felt more finale-like in terms of the drama and the stakes, it couldn't come after this episode in my mind, because if we had seen Peridot's personal growth in this episode before Message Received the audience wouldn't have gotten to experience that roller coaster of genuinely feeling like Peridot might betray the Crystal Gems, in my opinion. But in general, it's such a nice bookend to Peridot's growth so far as a character. I always love the chicken joke gag. I love how Garnet utilizes Peridot's enjoyment of her TV show to help her understand fusion better. This is why representation in media is so, SO important- if you can make characters with diverse backgrounds and experiences in media, then the people who watch said media will be more likely to connect with and respect and work to better understand folks of diverse backgrounds and experiences in real life.
