This episode is honestly insane. One of the most insane eps of the entire show. I can't believe it's somehow only 11 minutes, it just doesn't feel like it- it feels like a whole little movie. I'm gonna hilariously date myself with this admission, but I have this vivid memory of sneaking my headphones into my high school AP biology class so I could watch this episode (and the next) the moment they released and streams were posted online. This part of the show was where I actually caught up and started picking up episodes as they aired, and oh boy were those days hype as hell. I think it was like, 2016? Feels like a lifetime ago, lol. I agree with you, the way they animate the mouths on Alexandrite is super cool- stellar character design. I love how unique all the fusions we've seen thus far are with their limbs and features. Ahahah I think it's really funny how much the characters kinda just gloss over it because there's so many other stressful things going on at the time, but yeah- Steven can just. Possess his own watermelon creations now. Wild. On first watch I think it's a little nebulous that this is what's happening, but there's a few clever little details to notice on successive watches that hint towards this... specifically, you can see the watermelon Steven pilots in the first scene place a lil mitted hand over their belly, where Steven expects his gem to be. I like how much "show, don't tell" the storyboarders do in this segment. And then yes, the Alexandrite x Malachite battle is by far the coolest action sequence the show's done so far, the music slaps, the movement is fluid, the punches HIT, 10/10.

2024-03-04 22:11:22 +0000 UTCY'know.... at this point i think there's no longer a reason for you to react to the Extended Intro xddd. it's really cool that fusions are able to use all the Weapons of the gems comforming it... like Ruby's Fire, Amethyst's Whip and Pearl's Spear... but also other fusions... like Ophal's Bow and Sardonyx's Hammer. And now.... YOU FINALLY REACHED SEASON 3!!! which is in my opinion where the original Show peaked in Quality. Several of the Best episodes of the entire show are on this Season... im really excited.
