I've always really liked that this show displays their main characters as being capable of messing up or doing something wrong. It really makes them feel more like actual people with struggles and flaws. Steven messing with Lars' relationships was absolutely the worst move, but the show doesn't skirt around the discomfort of it and just shows you Steven messing up, owning up, and apologizing.

For me it's all about Bullies... specifically school bullies, whenever they are depicted in a show or movie im invested in... it's almost impossible for me to like them... even if that Bully undergoes a complete change in attitude and character development... it is still very difficult for me to warm up to them due to all the bullying i suffered in school.

(joke) I think it's absolutely wild that bodily possession is just... outright one of this kid's powers now. Like that's such a villain coded power usually, so it's hilarious seeing an actual sweet sugar plum of a child (most of the time) deal with it. But also... oh boy. Meddling with Lars and Sadie's relationship the way he did is quite possibly one of the worst things Steven's ever done. And I LIKE that, as frustrating as it can be to watch. Love me a flawed protag. But yeah, Steven- not your best moment. Do better. I'm really happy that you've long since picked up on the way that he's like... a chronic meddler, and how that can manifest in both good ways and bad, because I sometimes see some fans highlight this episode as "out of character" for him, and I heartily disagree. He's always been weirdly invested in the idea of Lars and Sadie as a couple and needs to chill lol. Yeah, no, I don't blame you for not liking Lars. I have my own opinions on him- which I will share in due time- but he really does take the trope of miserable teenager and crank it to eleven in these eps, ahahah. I do get a kick out of the banter he brings whenever he's in a scene with Steven, though- it brings this sorta scathingly dry sarcasm vs overwhelming optimism vibe, and does make me laugh at times.
