Steven crying "I just want my dad" breaks me every time. There are moments like that through this show that remind you how much Steven really is just a kid. Phenomenal voice acting.

It's such an intense scene, especially after an episode that's mostly silly goofs with the ship's systems (beyond the constant pressure of the mission) otherwise. You're so right, Steven's VA really did give it all here. Fantastic performance. It always hurts me when he's able to sneak in a nice voice crack. Ack, the poor kid is just so hard on himself :(

2024-06-06 04:33:11 +0000 UTCThis episode served as a small break and levity (minus that very serious scene with Steven).... since this whole plot of Greg getting abducted was originally aired as a "Steven Bomb" which was essentially a small narrative arc within the season, so the majority of these episodes were really plot heavy. i really liked how the show played with the concept of the Gem's bodies being made of light, the results of Steven messing with the ship were hilarious xddd. This episode also serves to put into perspective how ridiculously advanced the Gems are as a society, the current Homeworld Gems are able to build space ships that are able to create small black holes (which is what they called "Gravity Engine") in order to bend reality and therefore achieve speeds faster than light. That is both Amazing and Terrifying.
