2024-07-06 01:44:15 +0000 UTCoh first I hear mentioning rambutan. It is very common here, we calle it mamón chino (which can be sorta translated to chinese sucker). We call it that it came from asia and it is similar to another fruit we have here, which we call sucker lol

I'm especially a fan of that baking sequence- it's fun to get to see Lars completely comfortable and in his element for once. Which, yeah... is why it's simultaneously so sad and so frustrating to see it didn't work out in the end. :( The most telling line of this whole episode to me (and in my mind, the DEEPEST reason he felt he couldn't go) was: "If I show up to this party with my family's weird purple cake and with Sadie, everybody's gonna know I love baking and everybody's gonna know I love-" [cuts himself off, blushes] And everybody's gonna know I love Sadie. Their relationship has always been a hot/cold yes/no sort of thing, with Lars being too much of a cowardly piss baby (sorry Lars, but it's kinda true, just own up to it, geeze) to be fully vulnerable in public about how he feels about her. The guy has made SO many glacially slow leaps and bounds in behavior over the course of this show... I mean, even you point out how he acknowledged Steven's maturity and halfway accepted his input in this ep- and we all remember how he treated him at the beginning of s1. But even with those leaps and bounds, there's still just this big bravery hurdle he can't seem to cross. Sad.
