Awesome reaction, I had a lot of fun watching! Just some notes I thought of when rewatching this with your reaction: I originally assumed that the old star trek stuff in the closet belonged to both Camilla and Manny and that her little freakout seeing Hunter/Gus getting into the fandom was just embarrassment over potentially being found out as a trekkie - I didn’t even consider that Camilla may not have been ready to see Manny’s interests and belongings suddenly brought out into the open again, so that definitely hits harder. Also, I really appreciated getting to see Camilla’s perspective this episode and where she was coming from when she originally pushed Luz to go to the reality check camp in the first place. I remember some of the comments I’d seen way earlier in the series pointed out how unsupportive she seemed to be of her daughter’s creativity. It was great getting to see how exceedingly supportive of Luz Camilla actually is. Like all the fans of this show, there’s a ton of stuff that I wish we got more of with the season getting cut short. For example, it’d be neat to see some early interactions between Amity and Camilla, especially with Odalia Blight offering some major mother-daughter contrast. And then the idea that Evelyn was a Clawthorne really gained a ton of traction after this episode. Since that one flashback episode where we see the portal door being found by Eda on their family’s property, I figured there’d at least be a small family tie-in. I used to think Caleb falling in love with Eda’s ancestor would be a funny, “what if” scenario, but I’m pretty convinced that’s actually the case now. The steady hints of bird-type palismen for every Clawthorne we’ve met; Eda’s father’s palisman specifically being a cardinal looking just like Flapjack (only yellow); some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it silhouettes of Caleb and an unidentified witch with familiar features in the portraits of the emperor’s mind episode – all kind of points that way for me now. If that does end up being the case, I wonder what Eda would think of that. Then some minor notes: The giraffe gag was a throwback to the very first episode of the series where Eda introduces Luz to the Boiling Isles and has a throwaway line about giraffe’s originating from there before being banished to the Human Realm. I think it was only ever mentioned 1 other time in the series in the episode where the kids get their palismen and Gus says he plans to reestablish contact with the giraffes, so unsurprisingly a lot of folks get a little weirded out by the zoo scene without more context. Masha (they/them) was first introduced as one of Vee’s friends from summer camp which is why they said Vee looked familiar despite the new shapeshift. And then you commented on enjoying the voice acting for Vee as well as planning to eventually watch Steven Universe – so you’re in luck because the voice actor has a major role in that cast. I’m hopeful that we’ll get some more content after season 3. Dana Terrace has already expressed interest in writing/drawing a comic to fill in season 3 adventures that got cut out or a spin-off/prequel storyline following the adult witches when they were still kids. Disney execs are reportedly realizing they may have goofed in cancelling this show. Damage is done, the show ends with season 3, but maybe they’d be more open to a comic now. Plus, just this week they had a big change in leadership with the Disney CEO who originally greenlit this series returning and the CEO that it was cancelled under stepping down. Didn’t mean for this post to ramble on this long, thanks again for the great reaction vids!

2022-11-23 05:27:52 +0000 UTCSince you're all caught up, I'm gonna point out a few things that point in the direction of Evelyn being a Clawthorne. -Dell, Eda's father, carved Palisman, and in Hollow Mind there's a portrait of Caleb carving something with Philip watching, and the wood is in a similar shape to the Palistrom Wood Luz got before she carved it. - In the portraits in Hollow Mind, it appears Evelyn was pregnant, so even though Philip killed Caleb, they still would have had a lineage. There's probably more that I'm forgetting, but these are interesting none the less.
