STEVEN UNIVERSE 5X22 "The Reunion" Full Length Reaction

If you’re up to the challenge of avoiding copyright, I’d say totally put the movie reaction on YT

The Spider King

Editing and posting the movie would eb cool! Get more people over here! Also that is one of my favorite sumpsons moments too

that's also really valid xddd I do exactly that for the most part now that im also an adult and have more things to think about other than my hobbies xdd. I watched this show when it aired... and back then i was still a teenager for most of it... so obviously i developed a really rooted passion for it... and through that passion i formed very strong opinions. That passionate side of me it's still there of course.... but now i try to just enjoy things for what they are.... instead of focusing on what i believe those things should be.

A totally valid critique in regard to Bismuth, and I for the most part agree. But I’m such an emotional viewer that I throw most logic out the window sometimes πŸ˜‚

Sapphire does have a very soothing voice... tho not as soothing as Blue Diamond's voice in my opinion. Sapphire's voice actress (Erica Luttrel) has been in a bunch of stuff... mainly videogames, apparently she even featured in 2 episodes of Westworld. Ok......... look, i hate being that one guy that's always in the opposition and ruins the fun for everyone else, but it's just.... i just don't believe that someone like Bismuth would just calm down and be willing to be buddy-buddies with Steven after finding out about the whole Pink Diamond Fiasco, it just doesn't make sense to me. If anything i think she should be even more indignified and outraged with the knowledge that Pink founded the crystal gems based on a lie and then made everyone following her fight a War for/with her in a way that her "true identity" Pink Diamond didn't have to face direct consequences from her other fellow diamonds. Bismuth in her debut episode was written as a Radicalized individual, from her perspective Pink pretending to be a Rose Quartz would be... at best... Rose really rebelling against the Tyranny of Homeworld but only in a way that it didn't harm her in any significant way, and therefore taking for granted all the sacrifices her fellow Crystal Gems made.... Or at Worst..... A Diamond playing a very dragged out and very twisted game with all the people that Bismuth loved dearly as if they were toys or... a mere experiment. Don't get me wrong, i love Bismuth, i absolutely ADORE her, precisely because of how masterfully written her Debut episode was. And this episode (at least for me) unfortunetely takes away a lot of the weight and impact that Bismuth's last stand against Steven had back then. But look.... im not saying that i hate this turn of events, just that i didn't consider it necessary. Bismuth being back in the team is definetely not the worst thing... i also kept imagining ways that she could "redeem" herself in a way that made sense. In the end.... im happy that she's an active part of the story, it's just that...... the execution wasn't particularly of my liking.

Literally Steven is the heart of the crystal gems and keeps them going. I love that

Thank you!

Appreciate it!

Definitely a concern of mine, but I have some editing tricks if I need to get around the music. I can isolate vocals and take out the music if need be for example

First, the name of the Steven Universe movie is... "Steven Universe: The Movie". 😁 Second, on the idea of making an edit for a YouTube upload, I'm all for it, but as a warning there's a fair chance it's going to be a pain in the neck to do. Not to put too fine a point on it, the movie is a musical. A lot of the big scenes are in song form. I've seen other reactors struggle to put together a video that captures their reactions to the big moments, keeps something resembling the structure of the plot, and isn't instantly copyright claimed. Usually it seems to be a "pick two" situation at best. I think it could do well on the channel, and I'd love to see it happen, but I just want you to be aware of the challenges.

Pooga

ofc do upload the movie reaction to yt! I think I would be great for you in many many ways!

So the interesting thing with this episode playing with the idea of "IS Steven the leader, in some way?" is that this was definitely a thread Crewniverse decided to explore in response to CN's own "expectations" and assumptions. There's stuff in the artbooks that talks about... how Rebecca Sugar had to tussle a bit with executives at Cartoon Network to ensure no promotional or merch material framed Steven as the true LEADER leader of the Crystal Gems, because she was like, "no, the leader is Garnet" and kinda knew that CN was making this unnuanced assumption just because Steven was the one boy of the main four. But then you get this episode- encapsulated within a batch of eps that originally aired under the event title "The Heart of the Crystal Gems"- and you start to see this idea unpacked and toyed with, with actual nuance. Steven may not be the Leader with a capital 'L,' but I do think Bismuth absolutely has a point that he does serve a vital role in the group in helping point them towards the future even when so much about their original purpose has been muddled and thrown into disarray by the bombshell about Pink and Rose. Steven may not be the strategic leader in missions, but I do very much think he serves in a "leader" like role when it comes to boosting team morale and helping guide them towards compromise and healthier team dynamics, which is what I think that event title I mentioned above is getting at... ultimately, the "heart of the Crystal Gems" IS Steven. It's so wonderful seeing Bismuth again- even back in her introduction ep I always believed that she genuinely could be a reasonable person if one sat her down to have a levelheaded discussion (as we see here), just so tragically caught up in grief and desperation due to what she'd lived through in the war. Also, agreed 100% with you that the music sting when the camera lingers on her name card is very effective. I think this episode may take the cake for most puns per minute, ahahah. Steven is in his dad joke phase, I guess.

I agree, I would love to be able to show some of my friends a snippit of your SU journey that's fully accessible to them on YouTube. Who knows, it may also bring you some more supporters who wanna go back and watch through all the other reactions in retrospect.

Novantinuum

Yes upload the movie to YouTube too! I’m not opposed to that at all
