I also did blind reactions to this epilogue when it first released, and where for other episodes I tended to do like... 15 minutes or more of chatter and lore discussion afterwards (I was and still am... a Very passionate fan. Help, I'm in too deep), the fourth wall break ending of this one caught me so off guard that all I could do was laugh in delighted confusion for a few minutes before turning my camera off. I'm just gonna imagine that Sunstone has the ability to peer through the fourth wall and recognize that they are a cartoon being watched by millions of people... and uses said power to shout encouragements and safety tips to children in need. A bizarre bass boosted combo of Garnet's future vision and Steven's endless positivity. I agree with your notion that what's been explored in this epilogue thus far is more personal in scale than the OG series. I think that's an apt takeaway- and quite frankly, kinda unique to see in fiction. It's not terribly too often anymore that one gets to just enjoy some character dynamics for a while Without a greater outside threat on the horizon. It feels like so many stories these days progress so fast that I don't get time to truly Digest the dynamics therein, so I am always down for silly moments like these. I would join the Onion cult, tbh. I would devote my life to his cause. All hail.
