Roller Toolkit

Hey Miniature Makers!

We had a good idea of the tools we wanted, but we also spoke with the community and included all of the tools that they requested. Everything is made to print in both FDM and in Resin so all you have to do is hit that shiny print button.

You do not need to print all of these tools, but they are there to make your Print 'n' Roll life easier should you so choose.

I will break down what you get, and what each bit is for below:

Base Cutters:

We have made base cutters for every miniature base that we know of, ranging from 20cm square to 160x100cm oval and including multi-hex TTRPG bases.

These are for cutting the bases out of clay for your miniatures. When used on clay rolled over with the Print 'n' Roll set you will get amazing quality textured bases with very little work.

We have included every base size that we use but if you use some that we have not made the cutters for, let us know and we will make them and add them to the pack for everyone!

Rolling Pins:

These are as you would imagine, we have included a 4" and 6" pin so you can print it on any size of printer.

Handles:

The handles are for connecting to any of the rollers including the rolling pins and allow for better grip and movement of the rollers. There are a few different sizes so that you can print ones that connect 0.5" and 1" rollers to larger rollers so you can roll out multi-pattern textures at once. An example of this would be a wooden floor with a tile edge.

Pressure Moderators:

These work in a very similar way to handles, but have a edge that connects to the end of the rollers so that you can see how deep the edge is pressing into the substance you are rolling on, to ensure you are applying even pressure.

Spacers:

There are a range of spacer sizes from 0.25cm up to 2cm. This refers to the distance the spacers stand out from the roller. You use them by connecting them to the rollers using a handle or pressure moderator and they ensure that the clay that you roll out is the exact thickness you require. The one is use most is the 0.325cm spacer which so happens to be the exact depth of most miniature bases.

Connection Rods:

The connection rods are used to connect two or more rollers together. This can be used with the rolling pins to make longer ones or to connect two textured rollers together. The Ground texture rollers in the Print 'n' Roll sets will always be made so that the edges of the rollers can be connected with the pattern continuing seamlessly.

Base Topper Cutters:

The topper cutters are just like the base cutters but they are smaller so that they can be used to cut textured smaller shapes to apply to the top of other bases. Therefore, if you have a set of black plastic 32mm bases for example, you can use these to quickly make the textures to go on top.

Tile Cutters and Grid Presses:

These are for the TTRPG players among you. There is a 4" square cutter and a hex shaped cutter so that you call roll out the clay and cut a perfect tile. There are then the grid presses that press down on top to create a prefect square or hex grid made to the TTRPG standard sizes.

Sabitha Joachim

They will be in your library in the welcome pack on MMF =D

Custom Miniature Maker

And how can I get these?

Salvador Martinez

The Roller Toolkit should be in your MMF library via the "Welcome Pack". Send me a PM if you have any issues there.

Custom Miniature Maker

Where can I find the download link?

Felipe Werlang

I'm in the same boat. Where do I start? Where do I download the base package stuff like this?

Oliver Blackstock

Hey Markus - Great to have you with us, and Totally hear you! We've had this request come up a few times, and we're working on this. We think you'll like the updates we have coming in December :)

Hi there - joined today, and wondering if there are some 'how tos' showing the best way to roll out medium, etc and any tricks to keep clay from sticking to roller, etc. an "Explain it like I'm 5" for the 'right way' to roll out and stamp bases. Thanks!

Markus Irby

Thank you!

Tobias Karlsson

No idea why that vanished from the post, I was checking the link which worked. It is back on here were it belongs for anyone who doesn’t use MMF. Thanks for pointing it out. I check and the vault links was still on there so that should be all the links up.

Just sent you a private message Sergio!

Custom Miniature Maker

Hello! honestly this was the main reason why I subscribed, but I can't find the download link. Can you help me?

Sergio Trujillo

I printed my first roller in 0.08 mm layer hight and can see no trace of that at all on my bases

Tim Treis

It's really going to depend on the quality of the print, but I did one in FDM and it rolls smooth! However; FDM is more flexible and has more give when you push down on it, so resin might be the better option if you have the choice.

Custom Miniature Maker

Do layer lines on an fdm printer show up on the clay when you use the roller? I'm debating printing on my resin or fdm printer but curious if anyone has tried to see the differences

Riley MoMo

Thanks very much!! Happy to hear that :)

Custom Miniature Maker

Simply stunning idea this, it will be so useful.

festa67sworkshop

Hey Maarten, There is no difference in quality between the FDM and resin rollers, and we printed many in FDM ourselves! We put together some recommended Cura profiles for a few different types of pieces of the set, which can be found here (under 'Cura Settings') https://www.patreon.com/posts/print-n-roll-set-68977697/edit Hope that helps!

Custom Miniature Maker

Any difference in quality between the FDM and resin rollers? I have both type of pronteres available, and like the durability of FDM, as long as the quality is good. I print at 0.12mm on my FDM,

Maarten van den Heuvel

and we're excited that you're excited about downloading a rolling pin! :D

Custom Miniature Maker

Never thought I'd be this excited about downloading a rolling pin. The fututre is weird man...

Captain_Kibbles

Hey there! The google drive link can be found near the top of the post to start your download

Custom Miniature Maker

Dion Barker

Thanks for the heads up! We've replaced the MMF for the time being
