Orc Fortress Build

Thought we would share with you guys the build we just did using this months 'Rising Tides' print 'n' roll set and the 'Orc Panels and Stamps' weekly file from last week. We made a huge metal structure that can hold several squads on top while providing cover.
We first started with a cardboard box that we had revived from an online purchase covered in parcel tape and packed full of packing materials. This was a great place to start, as it meant the box was nice and solid and great to use as the foundation.
We then used the corrugated metal roller from the set to make the roof and then the rusted metal panel roller to make the walls of the building. For corners, we found it was better to have the clay fold around them and then have the panels overlap to remove any hard unnatural edges. Then we sporadically placed the orc stamps on the wall textures to make them have the glyphs we wanted.
The final build step was to glue the metal panels we had printed along with the windows and doors to make it into the final piece.
For painting, we sprayed the whole building silver then gently sprayed brown and bronze over the top. We then drybrushed the whole thing silver and then bright orange to bring out that rusty look.

2023-02-20 13:47:44 +0000 UTCFor drying you can just leave it for several hours, or to speed things up a hairdryer is a good option. For bases and tiles you need to keep them stuck down where you rolled them but here you can see for making buildings like this it is fine to work with wet clay. I get my clay from local craft stores in my townand usually use DAS air dry clay.
