Not to take anything from the next episode, but just one more to go until the season takes a significant turn towards becoming what we know and love about TNG. So many fun and good episodes just around the corner. Excited!

Katrina: "The Patrons can see this, you know."
Paula: "They can... and I hope they like it!"
We do! And as a new Patron I'm pleased to report that I had no idea what I was missing!

Content blocks finally got under my skin enough to subscribe. I would have preferred to do it for more positive reasons (and I meant to) but either way, I'm glad I did.
Anyhow, it's admirable that Katrina is warming up to Pulaski. I'm still not sure I've ever accomplished that.

I haven't seen this episode in about 20 years, but I've never forgotten "to know him is to love him is to know him". So weird...

Have you seen Brent Spiner's impersonation of Patrick Stewart? He does it a con appearances from time to time. (video is safe for all audiences and spoiler free)

Brent Spiner just again proving that he's a terrific physical actor, oh so subtle changes. Take note of the actress who played Lt. Selar, she might show up with more stuff glued to her face. Skype is definitely a plus.

So little trivia, Dr Graves is played by W Morgan Sheppard... he's Mark Sheppard's father (y'know, Crowley, Leverage, Badger from Firefly). The actor is also in an episode of Doctor Who that's coming your way, 6x01.

Same as they all said, great to see a much better picture of you Katrina, this is yet another episode I don’t remember. This could have been a daft episode if it wasn’t for Brent’s acting, keep it up

While this is not the seminal Data episode, that title goes to another in this same season, Schizoid Man is a really solid thematic opener for Data's chief struggles as a character. Data Lore played with it too, but I think this episode did it a bit better.
Also Picard is my captain. Having grown up watching this show as a kid, much of my morals and ethical values come from it and specifically from him. Like I am not exaggerating. This show was basically church for me only I loved it.

Something I loved especially was when she completely innocently asked Worf if he was a Romulan and his reaction 😂 "...HAaaarrdly" (says something about the admirable restraint he has by Klingon standards too)

Katrina I so love your love for Data and your passionate protective nature towards him. I am right there with you, Data being one of my favorite characters and all.

It's great to have a sharp picture of Katrina now. Last week it looked like she was filming from the London fog. I was hoping for another one of her "WHOOSH" fly-bys during the credits, but alas, no luck. :-) It's always great to see W. Morgan Sheppard on a show. He was a staple of sci-fi shows of the 80's and 90's. If I could request one retro show for you two to react to it would be "Max Headroom. Fourteen episodes of cyberpunk goodness. Sheppard plays an aging hacker called Blank Reg.

I feel the same way about Pulaski and Data as Katrina. Data is my favourite character in the Trek universe. So naturally Pulaski's complete disrespect, right from the beginning, of Data as a lifeform had me dislike her. She isn't very likable anyway. I also think it differs from Spock-Bones relationship as there was always an underlying respect there. They just had opposing views most of the time and bickered about like brothers.

I always liked how Ira kind of gives up when faced with how dangerous he was. I actually wish the episode focised a bit more on that. It's so typical for a situation like this to cause the person to go crazy evil and do anything to survive.
But here we have someone faced with the consequences of his actions and realizes how out of control he is. And then can't live with it. There is a lot to mine there.

Yeah, it's framed super weird. They intentionally make it pretty obvious for the viewer by the asking of the off button in the same scene as the computer transfer.
But the framing of the epsiode is that it's a mystery until the episode. It's probably a consequence of the script originally being a mystery and then being changed in rewrites with the tone never being settled.

Although it's pretty strong,I've always felt that this episode's surprise plot device (namely: Is Graves dead? If not...where did he go?) is too easily figured out by the viewer, long before the big reveal. Not helped by the slightly spoiler'ish episode title!

I have some trivia for this episode, but I can't say what it is because it would spoil something else. I'll have to remember to get back to it later.
That's a good point about Pulaski and Data versus McCoy and Spock. Spock is a wise man who understands where McCoy is coming from, so he's readily able to deflect McCoy's jabs. Except for the lack of emotions, Data is nothing like Spock. Data is a fairly innocent being who is still learning about humanity. So yeah, you can't have the same dynamic between Pulaski and Data that you have between McCoy and Spock.

I have literally no recollection of this episode. I must never have seen it oringinally, as I'm pretty sure I'd remember an episode with both W. Morgan Sheppard AND Barbara Alyn Woods in it!
And to echo what others have been saying, Skype does seem to have overall better quality.

I like that they put Tasha's picture in with the psyche test. She was a part of the show, and of Data's life, and I'm glad the writers didn't just forget about her after her character was written out of the show. I could have easily seen her never having any mention again.
