Completely agree with everything you said. This is a systemic issue based on how Hollywood rewards behaviors of supposed "geniuses." You brought up 30 rock, but I also think of community. There were plenty of jokes that crossed the line into outright racism and of course there was the story that came out about how Harmon harassed Megan Ganz. People have trouble thinking about larger trends. I've seen the same mindset in the comic book fandom. There was a pretty problematic spider-man comic that was released this week and I read an article today written by a woman talking about how the story represented how racism and sexism continue to influence storytelling choices in the industry, and how comic editors and writers still can't seem to listen to/address concerns raised by fans who are women, LGBTQ, people of color, etc. It was a true gut punch to read. Then when I saw some comments about the article on Reddit, there was one towards the top that said "this person just needs to read different comics." They had fundamentally misunderstood the point that the article was trying to make.
