Date night

The public has spoken!

Next update will introduce the "date feature", a new type of event, where you have to score as high as you can, to guarantee a... successful...ending.

There are different forms of game play, and some elements work better in one form than in another. If you're playing WoW, you wouldn't want to stop the action to watch a cartoon.

That's good, my birthday is on the 17th.

Tao Dude

i for one welcome it. changes the pace. Also, this isnt a game?

Mr.FeelGood

Is there a timeline for how long we will have to wait until you expect the update to be done as an estimation?

Midnight

Any release date?

Very exciting!

OK then I know

Well, because, in the previous version in the bathtub scene, in the text field part English was partly German in.

Nils M.

OMG beautiful angle. Faerin is the MASTER of perfect angles.

Tom G

Yeah, as faerin stated, we update the german translation each release. you have to keep in mind, tho, that the translation we work on is NOT for the most recent Version of MotH, but for one Version behind (in this case for Version 0.6.7)

Maybe I'm just an oddball, but I feel mini-games are good for rpg's but not for VN's or "dating" games. In a VN, a job should take time from the day and provide money for purchases, nothing else. Unless, of course you're trying to date a co-worker or boss. :-) It's not that I don't like them, it's just they are not a good fit for a VN.

I would think it is the trade off between more impactful updates which cannot occur very often, and smaller updates which could happen every two weeks or so.

Less randomization, maybe let the main character make a quick choice on each delivery run. Short cut or no short cut, run a light to save time or not, and have these choices impact the random outcomes?

What if there were changes to the job structure, for both of them and any future jobs?

I made an assumption based on single statement. It was an incorrect and unwarranted assumption. Making choices is what life is about, and makes for a good game element. The type of mini-game used in the job system are a distraction, in my opinion, and would prefer that one or the other job did not have it, but they're JUST a distraction, not really detrimental to the game as a whole. They wouldn't work well in a "date" situation, though.

That's right DrSmith, combined with some other small factors (that I don't want to spoil yet). I think it will be fun and if you guys all don't like it, I'll just remove it again ;)

Faerin

I think it sounds more like the text based choices quest you had with the mail from the good doctor to give Claire the right push.

Apologies of course if Ashley prefers dirty talk and fast food :)

Ever been on a date? I am certain you have been. Take a girl to a nice place with fine wine and good music, and be complimentary and you have a better chance at being invited up for coffee. Take her to a fast food joint and talk about what you would like for her to do to you and your odds may go down. A game uses a scoring system, but this is a part of life. I think such a thing is welcome in this sort of game, you see it often and when well done it adds to the story.

Well you did say "another dumb mini-game", so I assumed you are referring to the jobs (those are the only "minigames" currently in the game)? I'm a bit on the fence about it, I think "manual" minigames as in "click x times within x seconds", really don't work and take away from this kind of game. However adding some game elements, (like with the job system), in my opinion, can add to the game (otherwise it's "just" a visual novel), besides, if you don't like them, you don't have to play them, they are not required to continue the story (at least not up until now). In this case, however, I plan on making it dialog based as all other events, but with some different outcomes, depending on your stats/choices.

Faerin

No insult intended. If you took it that way, I apologize. What I said was "it sounds like", not it is. From your statement "score as many points as possible" it's a reasonable guess. And then I made a general statement. I feel, generally speaking, mini-games go well with rpg's, but not with VN or dating type games. They create a distraction from the mood you're trying to create.

Mars68

Hi nadia, I don't really understand what you mean?

Faerin

Hey nadia, please refer to the walkthrough hint system if you are stuck, this replaces the walkthrough.

Faerin

Yes, language updates are done (mostly) every update.

Faerin

Good evening In this release for a while there has been no difference in the updates but very simple. Thank you very much

Is there a text (German) Updat in the new Updat?

Nils M.

Wow, that's pretty harsh, without knowing what's going to happen...at all...

Faerin

Sounds like another dumb mini-game. Those don't really fit with the type of game you started out to make, in my opinion.

Mars68

Interesting👍
