BLOOD BITER BEATDOWN 2 - Backstage Blog #2 early access

Hi homies. Here's an early access version of the Backstage Blog post coming up next week:

Hi homies. Here’s a preview/development update thingie about BLOOD BITER BEATDOWN 2

PROGRESS UPDATE

So just to check in on where progress with the game is – I’ve finished designing and drawing the base portraits of the main cast. I still have to do some of the alternate outfits/poses (mostly just for BB), but it’s enough to work with to start putting scenes into the game now, and then I can just come back in and update with expression/pose changes

Unfortunately, because of my work schedule and other projects, I haven’t been able to progress as much as I wanted since the first blog post, so the game is still a ways from being done

I am planning to try and have a lil demo for it by the end of the year (in time for the 3 year anniversary since the first game released hopefully) to hold me over for awhile and give a lil taste of the game, so stay tuned for that

CHARACTER PREVIEWS

Sinec I’m not doing super frequent blog posts like with MOMMY MANHANDLER, I figured I’d just focus these first few occasional posts on giving a lil preview of the characters that’ll be in the game and where they’re at

BB ofc returns as the main character of the game. While it’s been a few months since the first game, she’s still roughly in the same place in life – she’s been juggling taking care of her B&B while also keeping an ear out for any sign of more blood biters cropping up, wherever they may be.

That of course leads to this game’s story, wherein she receives a mysterious message informing her of a recent sighting of a blood biter in a city up north called Bryden. But unlike previous sightings, BB is very, VERY familiar with this blood biter in particular, and it sours her mood even more than usual.

This game will elaborate more on BB’s backstory, in particular covering the origin of her entanglement with the blood biters. The story’ll bring up some bad memories and feelings for her, and have a big impact on her future from this point on…

Also, while in Bryden, she will meet someone who seems to know a little bit more about the strange tiger tattoo on her back…

Bazooka also makes his return as her loyal companion. Like the previous game, he’ll still be a sorta 1-time safety net in case you fuck up in battle and save you by slicing through the blood biters on screen with his sword, but unlike the previous game, there will also be moments where you will have direct control of him in fights like you do with BB. He has some unique moves of his own, and whereas BB sometimes gets a bit sloppy and needlessly risky trying to show off in combat, Bazooka is deathly deliberate and focused solely on defeating his foes.

While Bazooka is usually put in charge of helping guard the B&B, he tags along with BB (against her wishes) as she travels out of town for this latest blood biter hunt. He senses something off about her this time, and does not want to let her out of his sight until he can determine what’s going on with her…

In the past, whenever BB has had to leave town, she’s had to momentarily shut down the B&B, but now that Bonnie has been working there for the past few months, BB feels confident enough to leave it open under her care. In fact, Bonnie’s been doing so well at the B&B, that she’s become quite popular with the regulars, and even has her own little fan club of guests, some of whom even prefer her gentle sweetness to BB’s overbearing personality.

Though the two girls have been doing well running the place together, Bonnie has been fielding the suggestion of maybe hiring another employee or two to BB to help lighten the load. In the past, BB would have completely shut out the idea and stubbornly run the B&B by herself, but she’s seemingly been mellowing out over the past few months, and has not only been considering hiring more employees, she’s also been playing around with the idea of opening a second location, though that idea might still be a pipe dream for now.

Because the game mostly takes place in another city besides Breaker Bay, and Bonnie will stay behind to run the B&B, she won’t have quite as prominent a place in the main story as she did in the first game. She’ll mostly be relegated to some optional bonding scenes wherein BB calls her to check in on her and the B&B in her absence, and maybe even for some small talk and venting.

Since the first game, Bridget has been frequently bugging BB to teach her how to fight, as it seems she’s determined to become capable of helping her battle blood biters. BB has, of course, been adamantly against such a thing, seeing it as far too dangerous for Bridget, and because she seems hellbent on bearing the burden of dealing with the blood biters by herself.

BB has begrudgingly begun teaching Bridget, though she’s mostly been focusing on trying to whip the mechanic into shape first. This has been a significant obstacle, as Bridget realizes that she fucking hates exercising and eating healthy, but despite her numerous complaints, she still shows up for each training session, and has recently even begun working on her own blood biter-slaying weapon – the Blue Bomb Hammer.

When she learns that BB plans to head out to hunt blood biters, Bridget wants to tag along, but is denied, even more harshly than usual. Despite this, there may or may not be a small section in the game where you can put her training to the test…

Anyway, that’s all for now. Again, sorry for the long wait from the initial announcement to this re-started development cycle and the waits in between

Reminder that I won’t be doing regular blog updates like MOMMY MANHANDLER, and will just be doing the occasional drop like this with a general progress update and some new info on the characters that’ll be in the game and whatnot

The next bit you’ll prolly hear about the game will (hopefully) be at the end of next month when I drop a lil demo
