The future of MotH

(Warning, this will be a bit of a long post, please bare with me.)

Hi guys,

My 2 year anniversary on Patreon (and of MotH) is coming next month.
I have always promised to include all of you in the choices I make, so this seems like a good time to talk about the future and ask you your opinions.

First of all, I would like to thank you all for making it possible for me to work full time on my game(s). The last 2 years have been the most fun I had with "work" in my entire life!
I started out with MotH as a "test run" to see if people liked my ideas/games, I never intented (or imagined) for it to get so big, but am very thankful it did!

So that brings me to my the point of this post:
I have several ideas for my next games, some even very detailed concepts/specs (about 4-5).  A poll where you can tell me which ones you like best will follow in the near future.

I am really looking forward to start working on a new project, as I think they have the potential to be great, but mainly because I think I can do much better now, with everything that I have learned over the past 2 years.

MotH was a learning process for me and because of it, there are some "bad" choices I made at the start (mostly models, textures and some gameplay decisions).
These are things that would take up way too much time to change at this point and they limit the level of quality I can reach with MotH.

On the other hand, there is still a lot left for MotH to add and improve.
Which leaves me with the following question:

Which of these applies to you most?

1.)  It's time for something new and I can't wait to find out about your other ideas!
Finish up the current storylines of MotH in about 6-8 versions, but don't add any new storylines for the other girls, then start working on a new project.

2. I'm not even close to being done with MotH!

Keep working on it for much longer, adding more girls/storylines.
You will take the outdated graphics/models here and there for granted, because you enjoy the game as it and don't see any (big) need for improvement.

3. I want both!
Keep working on MotH, but (after v1.0) release an update the first two weeks, then work on the new game for the next two. This way you will get one MotH update a month, plus an earlier development of the new game. Until we feel MotH is done and then switch over to full development of the new game.

4. I am good with any of the above, pick whatever you feel is best!
You guys know I will always do my best to deliver a game that will entertain you and am always open to feedback, so whichever direction we go, that will not change.

5. None of the above!
Please specify in the comment.

Now guys, keep in mind, the poll doesn't necessarily determine anything (yet), I just want to get a feel for what you all prefer and where you would like to see me go in the future.

Thanks for all the support and feedback!

Thank s a lot Robert, I appreciate your feedback and your support a lot!

Faerin

Congratulations on your two year mark. I would have to agree with a lot of the others. I would love to see more of your work, but please don't do it if it'll cause you too much stress. It seems like that you're doing what you love to do. Don't go and push yourself too hard and make it so that you then no longer really like what you do and it starts becoming a chore and you kind of regret it.Also seen a few games that near completion, but seem to get abandoned near the end and the creator starts working on a new game and forgets about the other. Fans can yell and scream about wanting more all they want, but don't give in if it'll cause you any issues. You're work looks great and is well written.

For some reason I had it in my head you’d have a similar time and date system and location system where each girl had a schedule and you meet them there, but transplanted into a fantasy or sci-fi game where you also do some light rpging. Curious on how in depth you’d go on that if whatevs rim talking about it even right lol

Rawk

Hey Gooner, thanks for the feedback and being a long time supporter! I will never completely end MotH, because like you, I'm way too fond of the characters I have spent so much time on!

Faerin

Well done on 2 years mate. I have loved playing this game and very much appreciate the regular updates you have always managed to produce. Nothing beats the first time I played it of course when there was so much content. I don’t think I left my house for the whole weekend. And that’s not a joke either haha ! As much as I love the game though, I’m curious to see what else you can do and what you’ve learned. However, I would ask you not to ever completely end MOTH if that’s possible? Maybe I need to get out more but I’ve become very fond of the characters in this game so I hope you do not kill them off or anything. Perhaps leave it open for some Christmas specials or summer holiday specials (kind of like an extension of Sunday’s at the beach but different places the main characters all go to together). Or even the MC just having fantasies / dreams where foursomes etc. take place that, as they are dreams, don’t have to be part of the storyline? Anyway that’s enough of my own fantasies - I look forward to whatever you decide on. Your taste in busty women is perfect and exactly what I would do if I had any talent. Keep up the good work mate.

Gooner73

Thank you Andrew, for both your feedback and your support!

Faerin

Congrats on two years, and on building a truly remarkable and addicting game. I can't tell you how many sleepy mornings I've had due to the "just on more choice" episodes MoTH has caused. And Oh boy, I would love to see what comes next. However, I also have a lot of emotional investment in the current characters and story lines. I'd love more options for the existing girls. I second the other comments of less frequent updates to MoTH and a new project. However, at the end of the day you have to do what works for you. You have created entertaining and amazing art to this point. Keep doing what is right for you and we will all enjoy your art .

Andrew C Doll

Thanks Lance, I appreciate it. For the new game I really would like to include more gameplay elements to make it feel more like an "actual" game, instead of "just" a vn. But it depends on which concepts gets the most votes (more on that later) :)

Faerin

Thans Ed, that's definitely something I have considered. But keep in mind that this can increase both development times as well as cost greatly, so it might be a while.

Faerin

I really hope that you give MoTH a satisfactory conclusion and then move most of your efforts to one of your new ideas, regardless of what the polls say lol. Only thing is that I hope you keep the basic gameplay and story telling to the new game, but we'll see I'm just excited to see what else you've got because you are the best sex game maker I've seen

Rawk

Faerin great job on the game MotH!! Gratz on 2 years. I know it's not easy to get supporters to fund your dream project and you're now working on this full time. The next project I think or I HOPE you can do female voice overs as in female voices incorporated into the game when they're having sex. Keep up the awesome work :)

Ed S.

A valid point Bill, thanks for your feedback!

Faerin

I've seen other developers struggle with output when working on two or more projects at once. As much as I love MotH, I'd rather see it conclude in a purposeful and satisfactory way, then have you move on to another project and give it your full attention. Otherwise you risk splitting your fan base between people who want you to give more attention to one or the other.

Beastman

Thanks Chill-E, I'll do my best and am confident that it will turn out great!

Faerin

Ah, likewise Faerin! And you know me: always happy to lend a hand, and make myself look important! ;)

Crispyking

Hey Faerin, I wanted to vote keep to one story at a time, but I love what you have been doing so much I am always surprised. So I voted that YOU choose. I trust you will always work to bring us something good and I look forward to whatever you do. Thanks again

Chill-E

Hey Crispy! Nice to hear from you again! And thanks for the feedback and support!

Faerin

Hello Faerin! MotH is a truly great game. I think the most important thing is that you choose to switch to a new project whenever you feel like it. That's why MotH became so popular: because you had fun making it, and it showed in your love for detail and thoughtful game design. I think however, that focusing on only one project is a good way to protect yourself from overworking. That's why I imagine that giving MotH a nice and round, but truly clear cut "final" ending, before solely concentrating on your new project would allow for you to have the most fun, and provide us with the best games we could wish for from a truly happy Faerin! ;)

Crispyking

You can always take a break from MotH, work on something new, and come back to it later.

dankdick

Thanks a lot mate!

Faerin

hello Faerin i am realy new here (1 month ) and i like MotH a super game , say i like it , i love it , my choose was 2+ 3, i hope it comes more from MotH many more :) but a new projekt is a good idia too , then i think your work is great stuff and qualiti stuff , in me u have a new fan and i wish u all goods with all your projekts in future

Hey Holly, thanks a lot for your feedback! Actually, this is exactly what I had in mind for the option "both". Maybe I should have clarified that, because I won't be able to release anything at the start of a new development process, as you said, it takes time to get a decent (playable) demo done.

Faerin

Use this poll to get a feel for what people want, but not to decide for you. I only back a few of these games, but MoH is easily one of the best, and I'd love to see characters and situations continue to grow. However, I'd be very excited to see what you have coming..... That said, I'd caution you on releasing anything new for a while. I've seen other creators try to move off of their first project to something new, only to be dragged back months later. They then tried to do this 'release content for both the old and new' schedule, and it just didn't work... I think the biggest problem was how little content there was in the new project just didn't make people that excited or involved in it. So....my suggestion would be this: Start work on your new project, but do NOT release anything yet. Continue to use MoH as your main release, with the announcement (and our understanding) that those updates will be considerably smaller than what we've become used to. Eventually, when there is enough content with your new title, put it out, at which point, you shift the focuses of your releases to that title. I supposed this is the "Work on both" answer, but, the key point being that any new title has to cook a while before being ready for the public.

Holly R

Thanks Eric for both your feedback and your long term support, I appreciate it a lot! And I agree, MotH could carry on for a long time, there's so much stuff that could be added. On the other hand, I always strive for the highest quality I can attain and feel MotH is lacking a bit. So it's a double edged sword.

Faerin

Thanks for the support Dipper and welcome to world of lewd games ;)

Faerin

Thanks TXgamer, I look forward to presenting my ideas to you guys!

Faerin

First off, congratulations on 2 years, and on nearing the end of the main MotH story. My vote was for option #3. You are a talented, creative mind, and I really want to see what your next project turns out to be, but at the same time, I feel like there is so much more potential to be had from the setting, characters, and story in MotH and it would be a shame to see that just go away. I could see a future where there is maybe one update to MotH every other month, with the rest being your new project, allowing that new thing to build and grow at a solid rate but also expanding the story and/or content of the original game to allow for more 'post game' options for fun, both naughty and otherwise (but mostly naughty). The potential for more of a sort of sandbox harem, now that the girls have effectively all been convinced and corrupted thoroughly, or just for more varied single-girl romance options for fun in the wider world. As I'd mentioned a good while back, being able to add additional erotic options to already existing situations as the level of corruption hits the right spot would be a great way to add small bits of new material without making much of a change. For example (and feel free to run with these if you'd like) adding a strip poker or truth or dare option as a game after dinner when the family is all gathered at the table on weeknights extended group play during family yoga time, with options for various combinations of participants, ways to allow other women at the gym to walk in on/join you and Sophia or Veronica. I don't know, just some thoughts.

Eric Woodard

MoTH was the first of these types of games I ever played, so thank you for introducing me to a whole new world. I went with option 1 because i'm excited to see what else you have in store for us. I don't love option 3 because one of the best qualities you have is how often you produce updates for the game. I think some people may become annoyed at a slower update pace. It is usually the number one complaint I see on any game. Just my two cents, thanks for all your hard work.

Dipper Pines

Totally agree with you.

Dipper Pines

Always exciting to work on a new project and be creative. You always go back MotH if you wanted it have a spin off later. I'm sure you have lots of concepts and ideas that you'd like to try! Would love to see you do your thing buddy!

TXgamer

I say finish out this year with content for moth. Start 2020 with a fresh game that way you can make ending plans for moth and think/plan out a future game at the same time. However I'm fine with whatever you do.

Pierogi_warfare

I went with one, because I want to see what else you can do, but only under the assumption we at least get some group scenes with the three main girls before you move on haha

Rawk

Thanks Andi, I definitely don't want to rush to an ending, I feel MotH deserves better than that! :)

Faerin

Thanks a lot Johnny!

Faerin

i went with 3 because i don't think you can finish the game within 6-8 episodes without the end feeling rushed and there are far too many opportunities you would miss on. That said, at some point you have to come to an end, just maybe not this soon. So i'd say continue on with both until you feel you told everything you wanted to tell in MotH and then switch over completely to the new one.

Andi Raccoon

Hi Faerin, congratulations on your successfully passed “testing run” and thank you for making it such fun for us. I’ve seen a lots of tests in my life already, but noone even close to be such great as yours. :-) You can se the hunger you have ignited... two games at the time seems far better than just one, even it’s a top notch jewel. And this is what we expect from you now - another excellent game. :-) I have no doubts you even exceed such expectation, but please (I beg you), finish MotH (in terms of content) before seriously starting another project. You know, early version issues and pretty long waiting for the content could really harm the potential. Well, the decision is yours and while I voted for finishing MotH first (and I can hardly say I get enough of MotH ever), I’m of course eager to see the next great work of yours, like everybody else from your fans. :-D

Well I went with 4, only you can decide if you have the drive and enthusiasm to continue with MOTH for a longer period or need something new and maybe return to MOTH whenever you feel like adding some parts and how often.

DA22

Thanks! Either way, MotH will get endings for sure. I'm not going to just abandon it after all this time. There will be endings for all the main girls at the very least (and perhaps more). The only question is how soon those endings will come ;)

Faerin

I would really love to see some endibgs in the game or maybe à dlc to get them all pregnant ! =) but you've done à great work so far abd i really love to play your game. If your making a new game, i Will support you !

Alex Spitzer

I chose 5 because you didn't offer a choice of being okay with 1 or 2. Choice 3 is the worst. The reason I say it is because both MotH and whatever the new project is will both suffer from your divided attentions. If you wrap MotH up soon or continue it for as long as you feel the creative juices flowing is entirely up to you. I caution you against heeding the popular vote and trying to do both. That is a bad idea.

JimMorrisonIsAlive1969

Thanks a lot Harry. As for your point about quality, I just made another reply: It basically comes down to spending the same amount of time, but on 2 games. So each game will progress 50% slower, compared to when I work full time on it. So the quality won't suffer, the amount of content would, however.

Faerin

Fair point, to explain that a bit more: It basically comes down to spending the same amount of time, but on 2 games. So each game will progress 50% slower, compared to when I work full time on it. So the quality won't suffer, the amount of content would, however.

Faerin

I can absolutely unterstand the "I want both" Group as your game is wonderful. But to split your work on two games at the same might lead to less quality. It is easy said "I want it both". To do it is another thing. My choice was to go on with MotH, but I'm also fine with finishing it and start something new afterwards. Keep on with your outstanding work and thank you for two great years.

Harry

Congrats on the 2 years! This was a hard choice, but if you wanted honest feedback, I went with option 2. I am loving the stories you have created for MOTH, and really want to see more. That being said, I am curious about what you could do with a new game, so I almost chose 3, but I am not sure how much more work that would put on you, and would be worried the quality of one or the other would suffer.

ddodeadman

It's hard to make a final decision without knowing the scenario of the new game. I would like to see a new game, but I really love the scenario from MotH.
