The next game...(Patrons)
Added 2019-05-24 21:44:32 +0000 UTCHey guys!
I’m very excited to present you my (personal) top 3 game concepts that I would love to start working on after MotH is further finished (about 3 months from now)!
There are quite some similarities between them and they will all be based on the MotH engine. Each of these games will have it’s own overall story (similar to MotH) with an additional gameplay element, as I really want to make a game that is not “just” a VN, but also has an “actual game” feel to it.
Please keep in mind that all of these are just short summaries of the ideas I have, they will be much more substantial than they may seem right now (but this post is long enough as it is already).
Please open the attached PDF as it too much text to put in here (sorry about that, but I want to give you a clear idea of what I'm planning).
I hope you will find something you like and look forward to your feedback!

Thanks Papak, I'll do my best!

2019-05-30 23:07:41 +0000 UTCHey man! First time writing here, and enjoyed the game for a long time , you've done an absolutely smashing job with it, and a huge thanks for entertaining me for many hours. I voted for the Hotel option - loving the idea of adding more choices in the gameplay! Although I'm most into the story, I find that working a little to achieve a story advancement makes it feel more "earned", and it enhances the gameplay experience. Like you say, some may not enjoy the grind, so adding an option of turning it off, or minimizing it, might be a good idea. That being said, judging by the quality of MotH, I have no doubt this will be another grand slam. Keep up the good work!

2019-05-29 00:51:08 +0000 UTCI voted for both Rogue and Galaxy, but I'm leaning more towards Rogue because I feel like Galaxy could end up being a little too close to Trials in Tainted Space if you're not really careful. But, regardless of which you choose to pursue, I'll be there.
2019-05-29 00:05:12 +0000 UTCI personally liked the Rogue's Quest and Galaxy explorer. Both sound like would be interesting.

2019-05-28 05:25:49 +0000 UTCI love the choice of hotel manager or space explorer with an older MC, not every game needs to be based around a 20-something MC. For me, all sound good, but hotel manager (w/daughters as I am not a 20-something anymore) or space explorer (huge potential for variety here) or the space hotel mashup are my tops. And if you are thinking space explorer, or not, I second the motion that you watch Firefly. It was a great series.
2019-05-27 12:54:42 +0000 UTCI find all concepts totally exciting. It would be unbelievably great, if some things would take place in 3D/Ego-perspective. I love to walk around everywhere and want to see and discover everything. If you really want to do this with collecting -- please don't limit your inventory .... In games I am an extreme collector of everything and anything :)

2019-05-26 17:22:38 +0000 UTCNone of the ideas are bad, but if you go with the hotel manager please stick with a guy in his 40s trying to redeem himself. It's much more appealing than the guy in his 20s which is too similar to the MC in MotH. The Medieval Rogue doesn't appear to allow enough choice to determine the character of the MC. I would rather have the option of whether he became a rogue or a hero.

2019-05-25 21:12:51 +0000 UTCI like all three, the only thing I would like to see is we get to choose the MC whether it be male or female, but I understand that would make game development more time consuming. I agree with some of the other commenters like Olof and Pierogi_warfare. And yes combat system in this case would get repetitive and boring pretty quickly. If this is the case, I would just like to get to sex scenes soon LOL!!

2019-05-25 21:08:28 +0000 UTCI voted for hotel manager, I like the concept and game play and potential of that game the best. The other games sound cool also but I hope they all have family members to interact with as no family was mentioned except in the hotel game! Personally I love the idea of seducing aliens and magical creatures but a good family life is most important to me.

2019-05-25 18:24:16 +0000 UTCI like the idea of a management-game such as the hotel. I am however intrigued about it being set in a spaceship for example. Combat doesnt interest me much, what attracts me is problemsolving, adventuregame elements and RPG elements wrapped in a management style game.

2019-05-25 16:19:59 +0000 UTCSo I guess the hotel will be the next game? Shame, I was real excited for galaxy explorer. But I don’t know how you can “mix” the two like some are suggesting while still having the core ideas of galaxy explorer? It’d just be the hotel game in space which really isn’t what excites me about the space game premise. Maybe you’ll be building a colony or something? Idk, I just don’t think you should mix the two and call it s compromise but that’s just me :p

2019-05-25 15:41:16 +0000 UTCI too went for hotel manager but please mix it with galaxy. I think that could be a winner. Just don't make the hotel too much like Harem Hotel.

2019-05-25 15:21:43 +0000 UTCI went for hotel manager but I think that and galaxy explorer mixed together would be good

2019-05-25 10:39:08 +0000 UTCThanks Eric, this is a concern several people have voices already. I think I could pull it off, having much experience on the coding side (also of similar games). In all honesty, I think coding-/gameplay-wise the hotel manager might actually be a bigger challenge. But I look forward to all three games and think I can manage every one of them, otherwise I wouldn't have suggested them of course! ;)

2019-05-25 08:38:42 +0000 UTCThanks RD, both valid points! Of course, whichever concept wins, I'll do my best to create a fun and rewarding gameplay.

2019-05-25 08:36:37 +0000 UTCI went for the rogue's quest, though can live with all three. For me the world building possibilities and an interesting combat system make the rogue and space one the more interesting choices story wise. As always with any game or story it is the interaction and relations with the characters in the end that will determine if most of us will really love the game.

2019-05-25 08:01:53 +0000 UTCMy vote is the space theme. The hotel concept I feel like I've played before, and something a little more unique has a real appeal. A sci-fi setting leaves plenty of room for high tech fun too (who hasn't wished they had a real holosuite?). The fantasy game is a great concept, but turn based RPGs are territory that is so well staked out I wouldn't want the game to feel pressed to live up to mechanics and 'expected' design mechanisms that we are all used to from turn based rpgs, both AAA, and homebrew. Not that I don't trust your coding, but it is a big ask for a small team. But that's just my 2 cents.

2019-05-25 02:55:34 +0000 UTCI chose the Hotel Manager option as it seems like an interesting balance between strategy and story, and I imagine it will have a more broader and natural appeal to it. I generally have two concerns with the other two options: 1. I'm not into the whole idea seducing aliens or magical creature, just not my cup of tea (and I imagine I am not the only one - although I'm sure some love this concept); 2. I have concerns with the combat system. Its been done before and normally in these type of games the combat is very repetitive with very little variation, which becomes tedious and a chore really quickly. I appreciate that you will provide the option of skipping combat but I feel that this will detract from the overall game experience.
2019-05-25 02:06:51 +0000 UTCI enjoy your story writing style and believe you have the most creative potential with the space exploration. Perhaps it would be the most challenging and lengthy to accomplish, but also will likely garner the most reward when done. I don't think you have to go with the extra terrestrial concept either. The suggestion of using a galaxy model similar to Firefly is a good idea as you would not need to create alien beings. Also check out the anime series "Cowboy Bebop" for inspiration into a none extra terrestrial sci-fi concept.
2019-05-25 01:17:40 +0000 UTCPersonally, I'd like to see the galaxy quest style of game with the story like the hotel one (divorced, 2 D). The first one sounds like Runeys Harem Hotel.
Pierogi_warfare
2019-05-25 00:20:44 +0000 UTCWould love to see hotel manager... whole lot of peeping in on the girls... etc...
Tranquil Chewy
2019-05-24 23:41:50 +0000 UTCJust to clarify: The focus will (still) be on the relationships of the mc and the girls and some of the guests and the mc, not so much (if at all) the guests and the girls. And tentacles...yeah...I don't see myself ever adding that to a game ;)
Faerin
2019-05-24 23:12:29 +0000 UTCI kinda wanne go with the Hotel, but it sounds like we would have to pimp out the girls, and if I like them, I might not want to share (in the game) Galaxy sounds cool, but when I think space, I think aliens, and that leads to tentacles, and we all know where those end up... so maybe Rogue? I really want that RPG, but how good could it be if combat is optional....but it makes me think of Dragon Age and how much I wanted Merrill...yeah, Rogue it is. :)

2019-05-24 23:01:19 +0000 UTCI won't suggest these are the popular opinion of your patrons- only speaking for myself. 1) Very happy if the MC appears *post*-pubescent 2) All characters are strangers who must be introduced to the player, whether or not it is contrived that they're *familiar* to the MC. For all of these settings it seems simpler, more natural, and boundless in creative opportunities to focus on the *unfamiliar* characters. Subtle, I know. Thanks for polling.
Guileless
2019-05-24 22:55:02 +0000 UTCThe first concept has the most potential for that. But it could be included in the other 2 concepts as well, of course.
Faerin
2019-05-24 22:54:07 +0000 UTCAs appealing as the Galaxy Explorer idea is, it also feels extremely ambitious. There's a resource management system, a crew relationship system, a combat system, and a romance system. On top of that, there's constant new world design, non-human character modelling, etc. Yes, it could lead to some rather kinky situations, and provides the widest opportunity, but, again, that can just lead to more work, before even getting to the sexy stuff. I ended up voting for the hotel, because I like the idea of a 'tiered' relationship system, where, at the top level, you've got the daughters (or sisters/mother) as a 'permanent' goal, then you have the employees as 'long term' stories, and finally the hotel guests as 'temporary conquests'.

2019-05-24 22:53:39 +0000 UTCThanks TXgamer, I understand your concern and it's something I thought about a lot as well. Personally, I like a game to have actual gameplay, instead of just a sequence of porn images (effort vs reward and all that), otherwise I might as well watch porn/read an adult comic. So I think, if done right, adding these elements can really take a game to the next level, but I fully appreciate that this is not in everyone's interest. Thanks for the feedback!

2019-05-24 22:52:59 +0000 UTCWill there be "landlady" and "roommate" type of characters in any of these games like in MotH (if you know what I mean ;) )?
JV
2019-05-24 22:52:58 +0000 UTCAll great concepts. I chose the hotel b/c it seemed like I might be able to make a brothel out of it and that would be badass! lol It also has a straightforward feel to it. The combat/turn based concept has been done in gaming for decades and I wouldn't want you having to spend extra time trying to get that part right when, I imagine, most of us are more focused on the more sexy aspects...ahem! Lastly, the space idea is cool and who doesn't LOVE Firefly right?! I've never personally been a big fan of the alien themed adult games, and I imagine that you'd have to spend a lot of time building some of the characters from the ground up. IDK the process so maybe that isn't a concern.

2019-05-24 22:35:50 +0000 UTCI hope galaxy explorer wins! Though probably will be the hotel game though

2019-05-24 22:22:41 +0000 UTCIt's still on my "watch list" as I have been recommended it several times. Thanks for tip, John!

2019-05-24 22:21:00 +0000 UTCI chose the Galaxy explorer because I would love to see someone make a VN based on the Firefly TV series. I contains all the elements you have stated and more, If you have not seen the series I suggest you check it out! You won't be disappointed! But I'm sure whatever you choose will be Great! Kudos!
