Your thoughts on (the) mini-game(s).

Hey guys,

For those of you who have played the new update already, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the new fighting mini-game.

As many of you know, I enjoy adding some gameplay elements to break up the dialogs a bit.
Some of you enjoy these, but others get frustrated (which is the last thing I want!).

So, did you enjoy the new mini-game (and would you like to see more of it)?
Let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Faerin

Sorry, I missed the poll. I would like to play the game, but I can't win on the first mini-game, so it doesn't let me continue. I'm 71 years old and recently had a stroke. I play a lot of games, but I can't move the mouse like I am supposed to here. Making an option to be able to choose whether to play them would be best for everyone!

The game is still under development ;)

Already mentioned above by others, but this is a sandbox and there's currently not much outside of the main story path. There's a map with other locations but you can't do anything there. Overall, more content such as side activities, whether it's in the form of a minigame or stat building or other side quests or something is needed.

Thanks for the feedback, Gabor. Yeah, I'll improve the mini-game a bit more, adding some more options, so everyone can deal with it one way or another ;)

The minigame is cool I like how it makes you interact with the characters in the game and also it makes MC more helpful, more as the MC is suppose to be, a brother, son, and the so called man of the house. The only think that got me was the minigame was a little tricky with the arrows. I guess I got to get used to the arrows on the keyboard more if you are going to have them used again. LOL. Thanks for the minigame "Faeirn" looking forward to more in the future.

I'm looking forward to it as it develops.

I actually considered a Shoryuken (or a MK style "finish him" at the end) :D

Faerin

I like the style of the minigame. The execution is a bit lacking though. It’s very unforgiving. The SF2 sound effects are hilarious though 😂. Was almost expecting a Shoryuken to be the finisher. Failed it the first time but succeeded the second time.

Like playing hem sometime but like to skip too

I would like the minigame with a skip/avoid feature. If it is tied to $, I am fine with the skip/avoid giving less $ than those who actually play the minigame. The minigame does add a bit of variety to the experience. I would also offer that at this stage, I prefer more content with the women versus taking any meaningful time away from content development to code minigames. We are early enough in the story where I feel like more content is 'King.' Thanks for taking the poll!

I think it depends on how the grind is implemented. It shouldn't be grind for the sake of grind, but having to work for something to gain a reward is one of the fundamentals of game design (if the reward outweighs the work, of course). As for the amount of content. The game is still in early stages. It will take time to make it come more "alive". There will be side activities eventually, but it just takes time to implement it all.

Faerin

People hate grind, but I personally miss the game angle of the stats and choices of Mystwood Manor and Man of the House. Midnight Sin plays well, looks lovely and I like the characters... but once you're up to date with the main story line, literally nothing happens aside from the odd peak into the bathrooms.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks Rawk. Yes the plan was to make this a recurring thing (I have a cool idea for a kind of "fight club" in mind).

My personal take on mini games in visual novel games in general is that they dont fit to the core experience that the games are meant to deliver. If i want to actually "play" something there are plenty of games that focus on that experience and thus deliver much better on it and are much more enjoyable. The unique experience a visual novel (no matter it is sandbox or not) delivers is to create some athmosphere and identification with the main character and all other characters. It is meant to build up a bond and bring emotions to yourself when going through their story and make choices to fit the outcome dependant on your own mentality. So from my personal take the developing time is better spent to use on content itself. For example using the time on little side quests as optional content outside of the main story would make the whole world more rich and gives more to explore and to discover.

I haven't played the update so no clue how hard I'd actually find it, I'd just like to say that I appreciate gameplay in my games. However, I would like to have said gameplay repeat and build throughout the game rather than be a one off, if that makes sense. So like, instead of just one fighting minigame, have more throughout the game. which I guess would jut annoy some people more, but that's where I stand on the issue
