Update!

Hey crew members. <3

So, updates have been a bit sparse lately and I owe an explanation for that, one you'll hopefully forgive me for and mark the end of said sparseness.

I've done what is probably the dumbest thing I could do and quit my job. Development has wrapped up on Children of Zodiarcs and is in the final stages of testing right now, which left me with a few options but I've gone ahead with a decision I made months ago.

The truth is that full-time game development is just not for me. I don't work well during the day, I don't work well with big teams, I don't work well on projects that aren't fueled by my creative visions. I'm very proud of the work I've done on CoZ and I'm excited for all of you to play it; I just need to refocus and dedicate my time to things that are uniquely my creative voice.

I've done this for a number of reasons but the most important is that my mental health was deteriorating pretty severely. I burnt out frequently, I spent most of my PAX East being depressed, I regularly got home late to the point where I'd only get to see my girlfriend for an hour or two before she was off to bed. That last one ate away at me. 

So after mulling over all of this for most of Christmas, I decided at the start of the year that this is what I'd do when development finished. I let my team know and put my all into finishing our game.

Now, it's time for me to do what really matters to me and what really makes me happy. I want to do more art for here, more streams both game and art related, more commission work, more freelance work. The support I've gotten here and elsewhere online has made all the bumps and shunts of development worth it because at the end of the day, I knew there were people who really cared about what I did.

So, thank you. Thank you for being here and reading this and allowing me the opportunity to take my future into my own hands and steer it, finally, where I want it to be.
