Attack on Titan OVA: Ilse's Notebook Reaction

Edit 2: New version up! I shortened the reaction by a few minutes. Hopefully it'll stay up this time. If not I'll figure out a way to upload it to Google Drive or something.

Edit: Video got blocked after a few hours :/ First time that ever happened. I'll be looking into making some adjustments and rerendering asap! Hopefully later today. As soon as it's back up you'll see it here.

As promised, an exclusive extra video for all of you today! Here's my reaction to Ilse's Notebook now that I finished Season 1. I also recorded both parts of No Regrets already, which are now being edited and will be posted on each Wednesday in the coming two weeks. We'll start with Season 2 this Friday!

Note: YouTube is slow today so still processing HD version as I post this. Hopefully it's done processing fast. Thanks for understanding :)

Thx Spud :D Interesting to know how many things people apparently see/learn from watching a second time after finishing

Robin

Thanks for the insight! Yeah I can see your points, enjoyed this one nonetheless though :)

I think the backstory of Hange and the reason for suspicion of the titan origins are somewhat interesting. It might not be that mandatory to watch, it is a welcome addition.

Watching this a second time after watching the later seasons, I've actually learned a couple new things that I missed, or rather didn't understand before. Glad you went ahead with these OVAs!

So, about the relevance of this episode : I'm not sure if I like it or not. It sure does add to the mystery, but I think it does it without enough subtelty, if that makes sense. But the questions it raises will be answered by the show eventually, and it will make for a nice moment when it will all click into place. My biggest grief with it however is that the characters are written a bit caricaturally, with some of their traits exaggerated, like Hange's carelessness or Oruo's cowardice. This is an issue with all OVAs, as they're not directly adapted from the manga, and so they aren't written by the same person. (The exception to this is Lost Girls, which is excellent though it is also written by a different person) But overall I think it's still nice to watch these to give more clues about what's going on, and their flaws don't prevent them from being enjoyable.
