Oooh my goodness! 😃 So excited to finally share this piece!! I worked on it back in the spring/summer for the upcoming release of Keepers of the Lost Cities: Unraveled 📚✨
You can see the author's official post [here]!
For those who haven't read the books, the guy on the left is Keefe (one of the main characters), and the girl on the right is Sophie (the main-main character). The idea of the piece is that they are in two different locations, gazing at the same moon. 🌙💫
Originally, we were going to have the horse stables in the background on the right side, as you can see in the sketches, but we decided it made the piece too busy. So, I changed the background to a Panakes Tree (a very special tree in the book), and I think it works much better! 🌳🌟
And look at this, my first time painting alicorns (the unicorn+pegasus) 🦄✨. Who knew I had it in me? Hehe!
This is one of those larger projects that stacked up on my list and kept me busy during the spring months! 🌸 But I love how it turned out. While it is sometimes challenging, it's fun to do larger pieces like this! 🎨
Some of you may remember the piece Sophie's Bedroom that I did for this same book series in 2022 (I thought this was last year, not 2 years ago! Sheesh!) 🛏️📖
Since this is a commercial commission, I can't include all of the downloadable files that I normally would, but I put together some of the sketch images and iterations so you can see the progress. 📸✏️
Anyhoo, I hope you like it and keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming process video with commentary about the piece and the process!⏳🖌️
