How to avoid the "apple tax" when pledging

You may have seen some news going around about how apple going to start imposing a 30% fee on all pledges that happen through the ios app. This change hasn't rolled out yet to everyone, but it is starting to roll out this month.
In Patreon's initial email to creators, they said it would not affect currently pledged members, so it only affects new pledges or (I assume) if you change your pledge.
The update also comes with some other (slightly annoying) changes on the creator end, but I won't get into that here.
Because of these changes, especially the big extra fee, I highly recommend (whether you are pledging on my page or anyone else's) that you do not pledge via the patreon app if you are on an apple device.
Just open a web browser (you can even do this on your mobile), and go to patreon.com/chrissabug (or whatever other creator you are pledging to) and pledge via the website.
If you decide to still pledge via the app, the price of tiers may be higher to compensate for that fee. So to avoid that, hop over to a web browser to pledge.

according to patreon, those that were already subscribed before November wouldn't be affected, but it sounds like you covered your bases just in case!

I freaked out and unsubscribed and then went to the web browser and resubbed over there….hopefully I’m good? 🫶 thanks for the heads up and for being amazing as always!!
